"Politography" refers to the study or portrayal of political events, figures, and systems. It is used to analyze political trends, to visualize data, and create a data driven narrative. Decision support tools (DST) for policy makers tend to be narrowly defined in terms of specific domain applications. In this work, we describe the design and construction of a DST related to intergroup conflict management and resolution, focused on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It provides a case study that can be generalized to other applications. The DST, labeled T-Politography, integrates over 9000 indicators pertaining to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, in a hierarchical structure that begins with the specific geographical areas influenced by the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. These include geographical areas: A, B, and C in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. The designated areas have distinct legal status specified in the 1993 Oslo Accords between Israel and the Palestinians Authority (PA). The second level of the DST hierarchy consists of three domains that characterize Israeli and Palestinian levels of control, in each one of the geographic areas: security, geo-spatial, and economic. In addition, the T-Politography DST contains contextual data relevant to the Israeli and Palestinian control such as political, diplomatic, social, and legal domains. Each domain is designated as influencing either Israeli or Palestinian Authority (PA) control and is further subdivided into categories. For example, the geo-spatial domain is one of the categories covering Israeli demographics in Area C. Each category is represented by a set of specific indicators, e.g., Israeli birth rates in Area C.

As a coping mechanism to job creation and income poverty reduction, people in the rural areas are engaging in commercial farm activities commonly known as agribusinesses including tree farming. The study assessed the contribution of tree farming by smallholder farmers on livelihood assets in the study area before and after their engagement. Household survey and key informant interviews were used to collect data from 270 respondents randomly selected from 4 Wards of Njombe Distrct to include Ihanga, Iwungilo Kifanya and Lugenge which mostly practice tree farming; and 4 key informants’ interviews were done to the district officers in the Department of Agriculture, Irrigation and Cooperative. Seven out of nine livelihood asset ownerships were found to have significantly improved after farmers’ being engaged in tree farming. A paired sample ttest was conducted to evaluate the possession of assets by respondents and it was found that household assets before tree farming was (M= 1.80, SD= 0.752) and after engaging in tree farming was (M=2.00, SD= 0.199), t (269) = 8.706, p<0.0005(two-tailed). The mean increase score in houses ownership for instance was 0.2 at 95% confidence interval ranging from -0.433 to 0.033. The eta squared statistic of (0.219) indicated a strong effect on tree farmers’ livelihood in the study area and a significant improvement in livelihood assets after engagement in tree farming. It is concluded that, this activity has contributed to income poverty reduction by giving smallholder farmers a good purchasing power for the livelihood assets. It is recommended that; the government should control the market of forest related products and ensure price stability.

This study explores business analytics strategies facilitating successful market integration of nanotechnology innovations in healthcare. A mixed-methods approach combining qualitative expert interviews, quantitative survey analysis, and data-driven modeling is employed.Key findings highlight the critical role of data-driven decision-making, collaborative partnerships, and tailored market segmentation in overcoming adoption hurdles. Specifically, predictive analytics and machine learning algorithms are identified as essential tools for optimizing nanotechnology product development, pricing strategies, and supply chain efficiency. Furthermore, strategic partnerships with healthcare stakeholders and tailored market segmentation enable targeted commercialization and accelerated diffusion.This research contributes to the existing literature by providing actionable insights for nanotechnology firms, policymakers, and healthcare administrators seeking to harness the transformative potential of nanotechnology in healthcare. The proposed business analytics framework offers a valuable roadmap for navigating the complex healthcare landscape and ensuring the sustainable market integration of advanced nanotechnology solutions.

This article examines the complex interactions of the multiplier effect within the realm of tourism, with a specific emphasis on national parks. The main objective is to evaluate the multiplier effect within national parks, specifically focusing on Buiratau State National Nature Park in Kazakh-stan as a case study. The multiplier effect is a fundamental principle in the field of economic analysis. Economic multiplier effect is the term used to describe the occurrence when an initial infusion of spending in a certain industry leads to subsequent rounds of extra and sustainable economic activity. In the context of national parks, this phenomenon arises when visitor expendi-tures result in several favorable consequences, including increased employment, infrastructure advancement, and general economic expansion. The article seeks to measure the multiplier effect of tourism activities in Buiratau State National Nature Park through a thorough assessment. This entails examining several variables and datasets pertaining to visitor expenditure and its influ-ence. The study contributes to the existing literature by examining a recently constructed national park in a developing country. It compares the findings of this park with well-established national parks in other areas, emphasizing the distinct problems and opportunities it presents. Further-more, the research presents a methodological framework for evaluating the multiplier effect of national parks, which may be utilized in comparable contexts. This research ultimately enhances our comprehension of the economic implications of national parks and emphasizes their function as drivers for local and regional growth.

Reeling from the global supply chain crisis created by the COVID-19 pandemic, the maritime industry still faces multifaceted challenges for its sustainable survival. Those challenges include shifts in trade routes, congestion at major seaports, container shortages, volatility in fuel prices, the scarcity of skilled maritime labor, and potential technical glitches stemming from digitized maritime operations. To help the maritime industry handle these challenges, this paper identifies major drivers and deterrents that affect the efficiency of ocean carriers’ performances over time using two different versions of data envelopment analysis (DEA) models and the Malmquist Productivity Index (MPI). After evaluating the operating efficiencies of multinational ocean carriers across the globe over extended periods (pre- and post-pandemic periods), we developed a benchmark standard that can guide best-in-class sustainable maritime practices.

From ancient times to the present, mankind has struggled with infectious diseases that pose a serious threat to people's lives, COVID-19 pandemic has given a huge impact to the human society, which has triggered a lot of thinking. In the future, humans may encounter various unexpected disasters or awful events, therefore, should learn from COVID-19 pandemic incident that need to pay special attention to the emergency supply of manpower and materials, whether a major disaster or not. That is emergency medical management is very important in the event of a sudden outbreak. What’s more, the preparation and scheduling of emergency medical supplies well safeguards people’s lives, health, and safety. However, owing to the sudden onset of an epidemic and given the population trends, the scale of infections and the demand for supplies in the epidemic area are uncertain. The main influencing factors and mechanisms of emergency material demand under the development trend of emergencies can be studied, and materials can be allocated efficiently and effectively, so as to minimize damage. In this study, it improves upon the dynamics model of infectious diseases firstly, by establishing a demand forecasting model for a certain area, taking the Hubei province as an example. Furthermore, this dynamics model is used to predict demand for emergency supplies, such as masks, respirators, and food in the area where the disaster will occur. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and reliability of this prediction model, which supports for the development of emergency material management systems, ulterior, this study provides a framework for the distribution of emergency supplies and a guideline for relief efforts.

The objective of this research is to show the family farms as an energy consumers and producers from renewable sources. It is a possibility for them to reduce operating costs. Time scope of the study covers the period 2014-2022. The data source is the Farm Accountancy Data Network. On the basis of the value of energy output and energy costs the rankings were prepared. After the ranks were awarded, the strong position of the Netherlands and Germany was indicated. It has been shown that the production and consumption of energy depend on the economic size of the farm, and do not depend on the type of production. As such, panel models were built for energy output and costs. The determinants that affect them were indicated. Energy output depends on total inputs – the higher they are, the higher the output. The energy costs are related to utilized agricultural area, total output and family farm income. The results obtained are discussed within the framework of recommendations of the European Commission.

IT strategic planning is a critical driver of performance for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), improving operational efficiency, decision-making, and innovation. This systematic review synthesizes findings from eighty studies, highlighting the varied impacts of IT strategic planning on SME performance. Quantitative analysis was used in 45% of studies, while thematic analysis was applied in 25%, showing the growing preference for data-driven insights. Cloud-based solutions, adopted in 11.25% of cases, and hybrid IT setups (17.5%) were identified as key enablers of flexibility and cost-efficiency. SMEs aligning IT strategies with business goals reported up to 20% reductions in operational costs and 15% improvements in customer satisfaction. However, 60% of studies identified resource constraints as a major challenge to IT adoption. Despite these barriers, 60% of studies demonstrated that effective IT planning enhances long-term sustainability and competitive advantage. This review provides actionable insights and strategic frameworks to guide SMEs in optimizing their IT investments for sustainable growth.

Introduction : In today’s competitive business landscape, organizations strive to maintain a highly committed workforce to enhance productivity, reduce turnover, and achieve long-term success. Organizational commitment, defined as the psychological attachment of employees to their organization, is crucial in fostering employee loyalty and engagement (Meyer & Allen, 1991). However, identifying the factors that influence organizational commitment requires a deep understanding of employee attitudes and behaviors.

With real estate cycles being a subset of business cycles, contraction stages are often perceived as short-term, after which a revival of the property market sets in. The worsening Nigerian economy has further complicated the issues of housing supply and affordability in economic nerves like Lagos. This study examined the fundamental and associated factors contributing to rental housing affordability issues between 2019-2023 in Lagos. This article is produced with the intention of providing a market data update on rental housing price movements for both the mainland and island zones of Lagos, as well as comparing their affordability convenience for income-earners or households based on the rent-income ratio. The study adopted a mixed research design and various data sources were consulted in analyzing the fundamentals, rent and affordability trends. The study discovered that affordability convenience ratios for the various income bands had deteriorated further between 2019 and 2023 in Lagos mainland (8%) and island (9%). 67% and 80% of income earners are paying above the optimal 30% of their personal or household income in meeting their rental demand in Lagos mainland and island respectively. The paper suggested the application of fundamental, institutional and environmental strategies to combating the current phenomenon.

This is a methodological contribution to reference mode development in system dynamics model conceptualization. Existing behavior mode taxonomies-developed for various modeling phases-provide no comprehensive method for mode classification based on an exhaustive set of mutually exclusive modes, and derivation of questions the simulation model should answer. Novice modelers need such guidance. The article proposes a conceptual framework for systemic behavior with a hierarchical taxonomy of elementary, composite, and overlaid modes. A structured method identifies the intervals of each respective mode, orders them into episodes and then condenses the variables’ episodes to systemic episodes. Each transition then gives rise to a fundamental question for the model under development. Three classical cases illustrate the application and contrast the proposed taxonomy to others in the extant literature. The article then discusses some validation criteria referring to reference modes and their link to the dynamic hypothesis, current limitations, and questions for further research.

Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) agonists are gaining attention as a potential treatment for obesity. While studies have shown that these medications greatly impact dietary habits, their relationship to consumer food waste is unexplored. We analyzed data from 505 U.S. consumers who self-report GLP-1 medication use and found that 25% agree that they waste more food since beginning the medication with 61% disagreeing with this statement. Respondents are less likely to agree with this statement if they have been on the medication a longer time and more likely to agree if they report experiencing nausea since beginning the medication. Several dietary changes are also significantly associated with self-reported changes in food waste since starting the medication. With previous literature finding GLP-1’s significant impact on individual food consumption and dietary choices, our findings suggest that the effects of this novel class of anti-obesity medications may cast a significant impact on food waste patterns. With the potential for widespread adoption of these medications, and given that approximately one-third of food in the United States is wasted by consumers, understanding the interaction of these two consumer trends is critical for projecting their joint impact on the food system.

Digital transformation and green innovation are critical to firms’ competitive advantage and, thus, firms desire to make digital transformation enhance green innovation. However, the relationship between the digital transformation on green innovation is unclear. Drawing on digital empowerment, we delineate types of digital transformation and their impacts on green innovation in manufacturing firms. Our empirical results indicate that production digitalization and service digitalization have a significant promoting effect on both of green technological innovation and green management innovation. However, the effect of production digitalization on green management innovation is stronger than that of service digitalization. Moreover, environmental regulation enhances the positive effect of service digitalization on green technological innovation and green management innovation. While it enhances the effect of production digitalization on green management innovation. Peer firms’ green innovation strengthens the effect of service digitalization on both of green technological innovation and green management innovation.

Mega sporting events play a pivotal role in enabling host cities to stimulate urban regeneration and improvement. Numerous studies have examined the impact of mega sporting events from various perspectives; however, studies regarding residents’ perceptions of such events, particularly in the context of a global pandemic, are lacking. Therefore, this study examined the perceived benefits of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games on city image, satisfaction, and loyalty. Data were collected from 868 local residents of Beijing and Zhangjiakou, the venues for the 2022 Beijing Olympics. For data analysis, structural equation modelling was conducted using IBM SPSS 29.0 and AMOS 29.0. The findings revealed a significant impact of economic, environmental, and tourism benefits on city image, in contrast to no impact from perceived sociocultural benefits. Additionally, city image significantly influenced city satisfaction and loyalty. Therefore, in exceptional situations such as the COVID-19 pandemic, host cities should focus on developing economic, environmental, and tourism resources from a long-term perspective.

This paper adopts a systems firm-centered perspective on the environmental assessment of recyclable glass and PET soft drink containers. We employ LCA and discrete-event simulation modelling for the environmental assessment of the two soft drinks packaging alternatives in operational terms, over the entire supply chain, over a period of three years. The assessment is based on real data collected from a large soft-drinks producer and its suppliers. The research and practice contribution of the paper is twofold: first, it introduces a methodological framework for environmental assessment of companies’ packaging environmental impact under different product and operations strategies, and secondly, it provides a holistic environmental assessment of the two packaging materials (PET and glass) taking into account specific operational issues, such as product mix and recycling and reuse options, and activity interdependences and stochasticity. The results of the simulation experiments confirm at system level, for glass, the importance for sustainability, to increase the number of reuse cycles and the percentage of used bottles collected for refilling, whereas for PET, to increase the percentage of recycled PET in new bottles.

Blockchain-based games have introduced novel economic models that blend traditional gaming with decentralized ownership and financial incentives, leading to the rapid emergence of the GameFi sector. However, despite their innovative appeal, these games face significant challenges, particularly in terms of market stability, player retention, and the sustainability of token value. This paper explores the evolution of blockchain games and identifies key shortcomings in current tokenomics models using entropy increase theory. We propose two new models—ServerFi, which emphasizes Privatization through Asset Synthesis, and a model focused on Continuous Rewards for High-Retention Players. These models are formalized into mathematical frameworks and validated through group behavior simulation experiments. Our findings indicate that the ServerFi is particularly effective in maintaining player engagement and ensuring the long-term viability of the gaming ecosystem, offering a promising direction for future blockchain game development.

Generative adversarial networks (GANs) have become a recent and rapidly developing research topic in Machine Learning. Since their inception in 2014, a significant number of variants have been proposed to address various topics across many fields, and has particularly excelled not only in image and language processing, but also in the medical and data science domains. In this paper, we aim to highlight the significance and advance that these GAN models can introduce in the field of Business Economics, where they have yet to be fully developed. To this end, a review of the literature of GANs is presented in general together with a more specific review in the field of Business Economics wherein only a few papers can be found. Furthermore, the most relevant papers are analysed in order to provide an approach the opportunity to research into GANs in the field of Business Economics.

Intuition—as a form of unconscious knowledge—is one of the most important elements in the emergence of disruptive technology, since the new ideas do not work only on the technical level, but also on social, psychological, political, and economic ones. Its origin is influenced by the creators’ background, the current scientific and technical possibilities, and also by deep aspirations, illusions, motivations, and human values of researchers.However, there is an epistemological breakthrough between scientific experience and intuition. Owing to the idea that intuitions are not individual, this article explores the relation between intuition and innovation since different perspectives with the aim to provide researchers more pathways for creating collective disruptive innovations in the future.

This study examines the relationship between Bitcoin market dynamics and user activity on the r/cryptocurrency subreddit. The purpose of this research is to understand how social media activity correlates with Bitcoin price and trading volume, and to explore the sentiment and topical focus of Reddit discussions. We collected data on Bitcoin’s closing price and trading volume from January 2021 to December 2022, alongside the most popular posts and comments from the subreddit during the same period. Our analysis revealed significant correlations between Bitcoin market metrics and Reddit activity, with user discussions often reacting to market changes. Additionally, user activity on Reddit may indirectly influence the market through broader social and economic factors. Sentiment analysis showed that positive comments were more prevalent during price surges, while negative comments increased during downturns. Topic modeling identified four main discussion themes, which varied over time, particularly during market dips. These findings suggest that social media activity on Reddit can provide valuable insights into market trends and investor sentiment. Overall, our study highlights the influential role of online communities in shaping cryptocurrency market dynamics, offering potential tools for market prediction and regulation.

Nowadays, transactions carried out with digital currencies are increasing. Modern societies are asked to respond to growing challenges related to the management of digital currencies in their daily lives. However, due to the lack of digital skills of users, the management of digital currencies hides risks. To the best of our knowledge, the originality of the current research lies in the act of combining the concept of digital skills with the use of digital currencies. After all, the use of digital currencies is constantly increasing, which means that citizens should familiarize themselves with their use, an element that makes this study valuable for digital societies. Digital skills effectively contribute to the development of digital societies because they increase the employment of citizens, facilitate access to information, and contribute to the social inclusion of individuals through digital communication, while also increasing efficiency and productivity in the workplace. Also, the government and banking institutions can more effectively sensitize citizens to digital skills for more effective use of digital currencies. In this way, tax payments will be facilitated, the use of e-wallets will be safer, and e-governance will be greatly promoted, while the quality of banking services will be improved. The methodology of this study was based on the Digital Competence Framework for Modern Societies (DigComp) and was applied through a questionnaire completed by 443 respondents. The main objective was to evaluate their digital skills from the perspective of digital currency use. The analysis of the responses was carried out by using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The most important result from this research reveals that users of digital currencies are significantly capable of developing communication to solve everyday problems. At the same time, users of digital currencies mostly detect digital threats and effectively manage fake news without being affected by them. However, users of digital currencies consider that security issues are important, but only for transactions and not for their supporting functions. The study concludes with suggestions for improving the experience of digital currency users through individual actions, thus having a positive impact on the state and banking institutions.

In scientific research, there is a noticeable lack of specific studies focused on inconclusive results, in contrast to the abundance of studies dedicated to conclusive or positive outcomes. While conclusive results offer definitive answers, inconclusive results, often viewed less favorably, do not provide such clarity. However, they play a vital role in the scientific process by identifying gaps and inspiring future research. This paper introduces the pioneering Integrated Inconclusive Results Framework, a significant development that addresses the challenges associated with inconclusive results. The Framework aims to shift the perception of inconclusive results from setbacks to crucial components of scientific progress, ultimately enhancing scientific inquiry's rigor, transparency, and overall quality. The paper delves into the historical treatment of inconclusive results, causes, and strategies for handling them, offering insights into utilizing them to inspire and guide future research, thereby strengthening the scientific community and instilling confidence and reassurance in the direction of scientific research.

Startups often face uncertainty and the potential Valley of Death. To address these challenges, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can serve as a starting point to identify business opportunities in markets driven by SDG-related issues, which is, in this case, using Virtual Reality (VR) technology as a “painkiller.” This study aims to explore VR use cases and their implications for startup business models and discover a problem-solution fit—defined as the degree to which VR applications effectively address actual problems as “killer applications.” The study employs a customized customer discovery technique, an essential process in the Customer Development methodology. By exploring VR's applicability in various domains such as entertainment, training, education, and tourism, this study unveils compelling use cases that align with SDG aspects, thus validating the hypothesis on startups' potential to harness VR for SDG contributions. Furthermore, the study produces VR business model designs based on solutions to SDG-related problems. Thus, startups can function effectively as “painkillers,” offering solutions that are not only desired but urgently needed (problem-solution fit). The implications of these findings extend globally, underlining VR's role in addressing SDG issues and offering practical insights for startup business model development that are applicable to broader technology adoptions.

This research aims to explore and analyze the critical success factors (CSFs) that increase the likelihood of successful implementation of tourism PPP projects in China. As an important step toward developing such a protocol, this study identifies and examines 22 critical success factors for tourism PPPs based on a systematic research approach, which includes a rigorous literature review, and semi-structured interviews. A questionnaire survey was conducted to evaluate the relative importance of these 22 CSF. The results show that the top three critical success factors for China’s tourism PPPs are: adequate project evaluation and demonstration; political support and stability; clear and stable policy documents on PPP. Factor analysis indicated that the 22 CSFs could be grouped into five principal success factor groups. These insights are expected to profoundly influence the development of policies related to tourism PPPs, providing a structured framework to enhance the efficiency and success of these ventures.

This study considers ways to increase the consumption of sustainable fashion, given the significant environmental and social damages, associated with the industry. A series of experiments were conducted examining the impacts of choice architecture (nudges) under field conditions in collab-oration with one of Israel’s largest shopping centers. The study sought to identify which inter-ventions at the retail level successfully motivate sustainable fashion behavioral change regarding purchases and willingness to pay more, along with agreement with several statements regarding the climate crisis and sustainable fashion. Among the types of nudges examined in this field study were providing information, increasing accessibility to sustainable alternatives and appealing to social identity, in relation to demographics and green self-image. The study found that offering alterna-tives to consumers constitutes the most effective way to “nudge” consumers toward more sus-tainable purchasing behavior. Nonetheless, this does not negate the contribution of providing in-formation and strengthening social norms regarding sustainable fashion. Additionally in all groups, most participants reported that they do not know how to distinguish between sustainable and non-sustainable fashion, nor do they believe that the clothes they purchased were actually sustainable. The findings emphasize the need for policies that will increase the accessibility of sustainable fashion.

Background. The minimum wage has become a standard measure in economic and social policies of countries all over the world and it directly or indirectly affects between 20% and 30% of the labour force. The primary objective of this measure is to guarantee that workers receive a minimum wage that allows them to lead a decent life, thereby reducing inequality and poverty. However, studies on the minimum wage have not focused on assessing the effects on these dimensions, but on employment, anticipating a negative effect (in line with the traditional theory of perfect competition), which they have been unable to substantiate. Objectives and Methods. The objective of this study is to address this research gap by analysing the effects of minimum wage increases on income inequality and poverty. To this end, firstly, a systematic review of the empirical analyses was conducted using the PRISMA methodology, with a view to ensuring that all empirical evidence was available. Secondly, the Spanish case was examined. As the significant increase in minimum wage in Spain in 2019 (21,3% in real terms) presents an invaluable opportunity to utilise this event as a natural experiment to generate new evidence, a difference-in-differences approach was employed to assess the impact of this phenomenon. Results. In relation to the first objective, a number of non-exhaustive and outdated literature reviews have been identified, which have been subjected to a critical review. In addition, a total of 31 articles that empirically analysed this relationship in recent years (2020-2024) have been included. The available evidence indicates a clear inverse relationship between the minimum wage and inequalities and poverty. Regarding the Spanish case, there has been a dearth of scientific studies on this subject, particularly in the context of the significant increase observed in 2019, which makes this article of particular relevance. The results are statistically significant, demonstrating an increase of approximately 18% in annual gross income among low-income households, relative to the control group. Furthermore, there is evidence of a spillover effect and a lighthouse effect towards income groups closer to the treatment group. This suggests that the minimum wage increase has a positive impact on the income of workers earning just above the new minimum and even below it. This result is consistent with the existing literature, which shows that minimum wage increases have a positive effect on the income of workers earning slightly above or below the new minimum. Scientific contribution. In doing so, two new basic scientific contributions were made: a systematic, exhaustive, and up-to-date literature review (up to June 2024), as there is, to our knowledge, no recent systematic review of this relationship (minimum wage vs. inequality). Then, the introduction of new scientific evidence demonstrating that a significant increase in the minimum wage can significantly improve the income of low-wage earners without the adverse effects that would otherwise disrupt this positive effect, thereby reducing income inequality and poverty. As a limitation of the study, it would be desirable to delve deeper into other aspects not analysed here, such as the effects on productivity and consumption. Furthermore, it has not been possible to analyse the medium and long-term effects, due to data limitations. Nevertheless, there is evidence that inequality and poverty are on a downward path.

This study addresses the formidable challenge of solving large-scale Max-Cut problems (MCP). We introduce a rapid computational procedure utilizing a hybrid 1-flip/r-flip local search heuristic. This innovative strategy significantly reduces the computational time required for MCP problems while consistently generating solutions of exceptional quality. The paper presents substantial computational insights, showcasing the effectiveness of our approach on large-scale Max-Cut instances with varying densities. Our proposed heuristic is rigorously evaluated by comparing its performance against a quantum annealing solver, leveraging a multi-start Tabu Search framework. The results underscore the potency of this unique combination as an efficient and effective solution for large-scale QUBO problems. Notably, our hybrid heuristic consistently delivers high-quality solutions within the stringent CPU time limits of 600 seconds, demonstrating its efficacy across Max-Cut instances ranging from 10,000 to 40,000 variables. This research contributes to advancing the state-of-the-art in large-scale QUBO problem-solving, offering a powerful and time-efficient approach with broad applicability.

It is axiomatic to underscore that a well-managed education system is deemed globally as one of the crucial prerequisites for not only the growth and development of every society or geopolitical space but also one of the veritable hallmarks of a diversified and functional economy that will, in the long run, culminate in economic emancipation of the people. The education industry faces enormous challenges in several countries in Africa, and Nigeria is not an exception. Even though education remains the bedrock or superstructure on which other societal structures such as politics, culture, religion, economics, etc. are laid; it is quite disheartening that education in Nigeria is not effectively and efficiently managed for economic diversification and emancipation of the recipients of such education. Indeed, the industry faces innumerable challenges, especially in contemporary times than in the pre-colonial era when the education system was essentially functional. The hydra-headed nature of the challenges with Nigeria’s educational system has inevitably resulted in different dimensions of economic quagmires entangling the country and making most of its citizens find it extremely difficult to eke out and or survive. The level of dysfunctionalities in various sections of the education system has made it seemingly intractable to palliate the economic predicaments that have been confronting the country let alone emancipate it from the monoculture of its overdependence on oil. The author of this treatise is diagnostic in his approach to understanding the intricacies of the challenges that frontally battle the Nigerian education system and deprive it of being a veritable tool for a functional economy as well catalyst for the economic emancipation of its people. The paper, through the analyses of relevant literature, amplifies the conceptual and operational dimensions of the identified challenges, offers probable suggestions on the ways by which the challenges can be tackled and finally draws a conclusion.

As is well known, limiting carbon emissions is an important link in mitigating global climate change. Carbon quotas are a widely used policy tool by governments around the world, without increasing the financial burden on the government. To study the impact of carbon quota policies on the clean transformation of the key carbon emitting industry - the power industry, we established a duopoly model and conducted analysis and numerical simulation. Research has found that the effectiveness of carbon quota policies is closely related to the level of competition within the power supply chain, and is also influenced by the market share of clean energy power generation enterprises.Moreover, in some cases, it may have the opposite effect.

There is a growing consensus that the modern food system lies at the centre of the grand challenges facing humanity and requires urgent and profound changes in the way that food is produced, processed, distributed and consumed. This review analyses sustainability transitions within agrifood systems, focusing on the role of firms and industries as defined by the Sustainable Transitions Research Network (STRN). This paper conducts the first systematic literature review using bibliometric analysis to assess the current state of research on this theme. The findings reveal a significant increase in publications related to firms and industries within agrifood sustainability transitions. Furthermore, the current research is geographically concentrated in the European Union. The review identifies four key themes in the literature based on co-occurrence of keywords. These are agriculture, innovation, governance, food systems and agroecology. The review identifies increasing awareness of the role of farmers in driving sustainability transitions at the farm level. Furthermore, there is an increasing awareness of the interrelated characteristics of the agrifood system which acknowledges the need for sustainable innovations to occur at multiple stages of the agrifood system. It also shows that there is growing evidence that innovations can occur through disruptive as well as incremental innovation, and highlights the importance of governance influencing transitions. The literature raises questions about Alternative Food Networks as sustainable innovations, their potential for significant change in the established food system and the validity of their claims to food equity and environmental sustainability. A key theme emerging from the literature is an ecological perspective that identifies the complex biological processes and ecosystems as an integral part of agricultural production. These findings provide a greater understanding of the current literature landscape of agrifood sustainable transitions relating to firms and industries and lay a foundation for future research.

Considering environmental concerns, Electric Vehicles (EVs) spearhead the move towards green mobility. Niti Aayog (Indian Government) has envisaged an “EV only” scenario by 2030. Two wheelers dominate the Indian automobile industry with almost 80% market share. With the transportation sector accounting for 70% of world’s fossil fuels use, the need for a sustainable supply chain which addresses environment, economy and societal issues, has, of late, aroused interest in the business academic community and industries. Sustainability in business decision-making promotes efficiency, controls expenditure, enhances customer delight, increases sales and market share, optimises risk management strategy, and promotes profitability. This study intends to develop a conceptual framework after examining research gaps in sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) and allied topics like sustainability, green supply chain management, and vendor partnerships through collaborative efforts. Even the UN vide Goal 9 of sustainable goals pertaining to industry, highlights the importance of this framework.

Digital transformation provides new drivers for economic performance growth in enterprises, but can it further improve ESG performance and support sustainable development? Based on the perspective of resources and capabilities, this paper uses the relevant data of 1588 listed companies in strategic emerging industries from 2011 to 2021 to study the differential impact of digital transformation on enterprise ESG performance, and further tests the mediating role of absorptive capacity and the moderating role of regional digital level. The research results indicate that: firstly, digital transformation of enterprises can positively promote the improvement of ESG performance; Secondly, there are significant differences in the impact of digital transformation on the ESG performance of enterprises in terms of property rights and industry characteristics. The ESG performance of state-owned enterprises and high-end equipment manufacturing enterprises is more sensitive to digital transformation; Thirdly, absorptive capacity plays a mediating role between digital transformation and corporate ESG performance; Fourthly, the positive regulation of regional digital level promotes the ESG performance of enterprises through digital transformation. The research conclusion is based on a digital perspective, providing relevant insights for improving the ESG performance of strategic emerging industry enterprises and expanding their ESG development paths.

This scientific article outlines the Artificial Intelligence Integrated Energy Education Framework (AI-IEEF), a transformative model designed to revolutionize energy education and management practices. The framework is organized into five distinct layers: Organizational (AI-enhanced administration systems), Financial (dynamic AI financial models), Technology (advanced simulation and modeling), Methodology (AI in curriculum development and personalized learning), and Social (AI for community engagement and impact). An expert panel used the fuzzy Delphi method to achieve consensus on twenty key factors within these layers, establishing a solid foundation for analysis. Following this, the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was employed to calculate precise weights for each layer and their respective factors, providing a quantitative assessment of their relative importance. These weight calculations are crucial, as they guide resource allocation and strategic decision-making to ensure the framework is optimized for the evolving needs of energy management. Furthermore, the article introduces five tailored variants of the AI-IEEF, each addressing specific aspects of energy education and offering a comprehensive approach to navigating the challenges in the field. The five variants include the Smart Campus Energy Education, Global Energy Policy Analysis, Renewable Energy Research and Development, Energy Workforce Development, and Community Engagement and Outreach variants. Each provides a distinct approach to energy education, from transforming campuses into living labs for hands-on learning to fostering international collaborations that explore the global implications of energy policy. These variants emphasize practical skills, policy analysis, and community-focused solutions, ensuring that students are well-prepared to contribute effectively to the energy sector.

The study of innovation in the public sector has attracted increasing interest in the last decade. Contributions of the literature concerning its possible innovation drivers and inhibitors have primarily had a theoretical or documentary perspective; empirical studies are scarce, as are work-team studies in organizations of this sector. The present study therefore focuses on identifying and understanding those variables or factors that induce or inhibit innovative activity in work teams in public organizations in a developing country. The research focus is qualitative, and 16 directors of 13 public Costa Rican institutions were interviewed for the study. A set of coding methods allowed to identify 19 thematic categories of variables linked to the capacity to generate innovations in these work teams.

Oracles have been suggested as a vital piece of infrastructure necessary to allow blockchain-based smart contracts to reach their full potential by interacting with real-world data. This paper begins by providing an approachable entry point to the oracle problem and the current landscape of existing solutions. From there, we provide an overview of published research to narrow down unexplored research directions and derive questions for interviews. Finally, the results of 15 unstructured expert interviews are presented and discussed. The focus here is the industry landscape of oracle projects, opportunities for innovation, and challenges needing to be overcome.

The present paper examines the impact of herding behavior on market capitalization in the Egyptian stock market before and after the disclosure of environmental-social-governance scores (ESG Score Index). This line of thought and research contributes to the literature on the interrelationships between ESG factors and market dynamics. Consequently, the evolving landscape of how to sustain investments in emerging markets like Egypt can be enlightened. Two main hypotheses were tested in the paper. The first hypothesis is on the expected significant impact of herding behaviour on market capitalization. The second hypothesis is on the expected positive impact of ESG on the relationship between herding behaviour and market capitalization. Panel data analysis using data extracted from financial statements of 22 Egyptian EGX 30 companies, over the period 2018-2023 will be used. This is to control for the cross-section and time characteristics of the research sample. The empirical findings reveal a positive significant effect of herding behavior on market capitalization before disclosing ESG scores. Another finding is that after the implementation of mandatory ESG disclosure, the relationship between herding behavior and market capitalization is strengthened. Moreover, it is empirically evident that companies with higher ESG performance attract more investments and higher valuations. The importance of ESG in shaping investment decision-making, enhancing transparency, and market dynamics has important policy implications.

The collaboration of multimodal transport documents is the foundation for conducting multimodal transport operations. Blockchain technology can effectively address trust issues and information sharing difficulties in current multimodal transport document collaboration. However, in current blockchain-based electronic document research, the bottleneck problem lies in the collaboration of multiparty in multimodal transport under the "one-bill coverage system". We design a blockchain platform architecture for multimodal transport, reshaping collaboration processes for different modes of transport based on the blockchain platform. It proposes a collaboration model for multimodal transport under the "one-bill coverage system" and performs model solving and case analysis. The obtained collaboration strategies are embedded into the platform's application layer. Finally, using Solidity language, it writes smart contracts related to multimodal transport under the "one-bill coverage system " and deploys and executes them on the Remix platform.

The paper synthesizes findings related to climate-resilient crop varieties, precision farming, water-use efficiency, and sustainable soil management, highlighting their contributions to reducing post-harvest losses and enhancing overall food security. In addition to summarizing current knowledge, this paper identifies gaps in the literature and proposes avenues for future research. This review serves as a foundation for researchers, policymakers, and practitioners seeking to contribute to the advancement of climate-smart agriculture and the reduction of food losses, paving the way for a more sustainable and resilient global food system.

This paper presents a theoretical framework aimed at improving IoT network cybersecurity by AI-driven anomaly detection in the context of rapid urbanization and the development of smart cities. The framework draws upon the Complex Adaptive Systems Theory, Theory of Planned Behavior, the Technology Acceptance Model, and the Socio-Technical Systems Theory, and intri-cately examines how AI might be integrated into the intricate ecosystem of smart cities to detect and mitigate cyber threats. It emphasizes AI-driven anomaly detection methods as pivotal in-struments that impact cybersecurity enhancement in smart city infrastructures. The proposed framework also highlights the crucial role that human-related factors, including user behavior and adoption, play in determining how effective AI applications are in enhancing cybersecurity in smart cities. It also recognizes the important moderating roles played by outside factors like legislative frameworks, environmental contexts, and technological breakthroughs in the relationship between AI-enabled anomaly detection and enhanced cybersecurity. The goal of this research is to shed light on the interactions between technology and socio-technical dynamics by offering a thorough theoretical understanding of AI's potential in smart city cybersecurity. It highlights the significance of taking into account a variety of contextual aspects when employing AI to strengthen the digital security of urban areas, and provides a strategic direction for future research and practical implementation.

The emergence of Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) in the past decade has challenged our imagination to discover new, innovative and disruptive solutions to problems in domains ranging from finance and healthcare to supply chain and smart cities. However, the enormous energy consumption that has been observed in some of the most successful DLT applications raises the question of their long term sustainability. This article reviews the standardization efforts of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) to provide guidelines to regulators and policy makers for making informed decisions on the applicability and sustainability of DLT architectures from the point of view of energy consumption.

Understanding the optimal strategy for a real estate investment and how performance changes based on characteristics is crucial for optimising the achievable return. This is prominent in tourist areas such as Paphos where there is no clear distinction as to whether short or long-term approaches are optimal. The study aimed to develop a model for predicting the optimal rental strategy whilst assessing which model performed best and which property attributes impacted its return the greatest. Short-term data was collected from AirDNA and long-term data was manually collected from real estate agents websites. Furthermore, Random Forest, K-Nearest Neighbour and Multiple Linear Regression models were created to predict the highest and best use for each property. Model accuracy varied between data sets with the best performing model for short-term properties being Random Forest (R-Squared: 0.843), and Distance-Based Multiple Linear Regression for long-term approach (R-Squared: 0.843). The study demonstrated that accurate models could be created to predict the optimal rental strategy with the number of bedrooms being the main driver for rental income, followed by luxury finishes and the presence of a pool. It found that locational characteristics didn’t impact the returns significantly assuming that the property was located within a tourist area.

In the current complex and uncertain macroeconomic situation, improving the inherent resilience of the new energy vehicle industry chain is the key to effectively addressing various risks and challenges, and achieving dynamic balance between high-quality industrial development and industrial chain security. Based on the basic concept of resilience and the actual situation of new energy vehicle industry chain development, this study constructs a comprehensive evaluation index system for the resilience of the new energy vehicle industry chain, which includes four dimensional first-level indicators of coping resistance, adaptive resilience, autonomous control and leading competitiveness. In addition, it is measured by combining the data related to the new energy vehicle industry chain in Changzhou City. Our study shows that the situation on the new energy vehicle industry chain is complicated, and the comprehensive evaluation index system is more favorable for evaluating its resilience level.

The authors present a framework for assessing seasonal events which may influence maritime operations. Most maritime-related research tends to focus on single events, such as a storm, but maritime systems operate within complex systems that have some predictable patterns. These predictable patterns due to natural events, such as weather and water levels, can influence operations, while other factors, such as cargo peaks or cultural activities, could also shape maritime systems. By integrating data from emergency management databases and weather information sources with other inputs, the authors created a matrix of regionally specific predictable events that may occur within a region by time of year. The matrix was vetted with various stakeholder groups to verify the information in the matrix. The main findings were that a seasonal event matrix is helpful as a reference for examining operational patterns in a river for various uses, such as training, operational planning, and emergency response coordination.

This study delves into the critical domain of public procurement, specifically focusing on Sustainable Public Procurement (SPP) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations within the context of South Korea. The aim of this research is to empirically scrutinize the factors influencing the impact index of SPP, with a particular emphasis on services related to labor standards. The investigation spans three years, from January 1, 2019, to July 31, 2021, encompassing state agency orders and post-implementation legal changes. Leveraging the comprehensive Korea On-line E-Procurement Sys-tem(KONEPS) platform, we meticulously collected data, ultimately culminating in 21,573 services meeting our criteria, from which 250 cases underwent an in-depth analysis. The study sheds light on the influence of social responsibility evaluation cri-teria on overall procurement scores, while also uncovering the moderating effects of various factors. The outcomes of this study offer valuable insights into the impact index of social responsibility evaluation criteria within South Korea's public procurement landscape. Factors including procurement year, classification, service period, and estimated price were identified as significant influencers. Moreover, the number and location of evalu-ation criteria items, inclusion of sincerity elements, and the evaluating agency were deemed pivotal determinants of the influence index. These findings hold profound implications for policymakers, procurement practitioners, and researchers and provide a roadmap for optimizing the utilization of social responsibility evaluation criteria to advance responsible and sustainable procurement practices. Future research avenues include conducting further study of additional moderat-ing variables, expanding datasets to encompass a broader spectrum of procurement contexts, and evaluating the long-term repercussions of social responsibility evaluation on procurement outcomes. These endeavors promise to further refine and advance public procurement practices in South Korea and beyond.

This paper investigates the theoretical foundation for developing renewable geothermal resources locally. For this reason, we pay attention to the role of communities in geothermal development. This study presents arguments for a framework that approaches the geothermal resources as an endogenous factor of community development. To analyse it, we create a model that explains the local economic characters of the geothermal exploitation beyond its geological conditions. It aims to conceptualise a community based geothermal development standard referring to the endogeneity principle. Geothermal energy is given attention since the characteristics of this resource determine its use locally. We argue that the role of communities in geothermal exploitation is pivotal in the process of green growth for further expansion of geothermal energy use.

Improving the level of farmers' participation in collective action is an important way to promote rural revitalization and improve the sustainable livelihood level of farmers in underdeveloped areas. Based on 312 questionnaires of farmers in Shanxi Province, this paper investigates the status of farmers' participation in collective action, their sustainable livelihood level and the sustainable livelihood effect of collective action participation. The results show that: farmers' willingness to participate in collective action is strong, and the participation effect is obvious, but the participation frequency is low, and the participation time is less; The farmers' sustainable livelihood level is relatively low, Empirical research shows that the level of collective action participation will have a significant positive impact on Farmers' livelihood risk prevention, livelihood capital accumulation, livelihood mode selection and livelihood income improvement, and the frequency, time and value perception of participation in collective action will have varying degrees of impact on Farmers' sustainable livelihoods. In order to promote farmers' active participation in collective action, it is proposed to strengthen the construction of collective organizations Provide incentives and improve the quality and skills of farmers to enhance the collective concept and other policy recommendations.

Under the double pressure of climate change and human activities, the restrictions of conservation policies and the increasing area of overlap between wildlife conservation areas and community living areas have led to increase conflicts and contradictions between nature reserves and neighboring communities. Effective management of such conflicts is particularly important in order to achieve reconciliation of conservation and development. In this study, we take the Mikumi-Selous region in Tanzania, Africa as an example, and through questionnaire surveys and semi-structured interviews, we sort out the current situation of conflicts between nature reserves and communities in the region, as well as summarize the means of conflict governance. In addition, we focus on identifying the various factors affecting community residents' protection willingness and protection action, and further verify the relationships among residents' family characteristics, protection costs and revenue, protection cognition, willingness and action through empirical analysis methods. The results show that residents' protection cognition has a significant positive effect on their willingness to protect and their actions, meanwhile willingness to protect also positively affects residents' protection action. In addition, it was found that the protection cost inhibits residents' willingness and action. Our study focuses on the willingness to participate and action of core stakeholders towards conflict governance from the perspective of community governance, emphasizing the key role of community participation in achieving coordinated development of biodiversity conservation and community. It provides a new perspective for mitigating conservation and development issues.

The article proposes a mathematical model for creating playlists based on the emotional utility of the consumer, aiming to maintain high user interest in music streaming platforms (Lugos Abarca, 2024). The proposed method follows these steps: first, it calculates the MEEPE of Songs on the digital platform; subsequently, it quantitatively defines the Consumer's MEEPI before exposure to music; then, it operates the MEEPE of the Songs with the consumer's initial MEEPI using the known resolution process (Lugos Abarca, 2023); finally, it employs an emotional utility function to determine possible levels of emotional satisfaction and establish the playback order. This results in the creation of an efficient theoretical model. It is recommended to expand the computational study of the model in future research by using a broader set of songs and considering various initial MEEPI of the consumer. The article's originality lies in its ability to predict, quantitatively and theoretically, the level of satisfaction a music consumer could experience when listening to a playlist.

The objective of this research is to propose a utility function that calculates the possible level of satisfaction that a music consumer would achieve after listening to a song according to the emotional response obtained from a song. Assuming that the consumer's musical preferences are satisfied if the predominant emotions of his current emotional state increase; the probabilistic emotional-musical model (Lugos Abarca, 2023) is used to construct such a utility function. By posing a hypothetical scenario, realistic results were obtained, which guarantee, in principle, its use in theoretical practice. The originality of this research lies in proposing a mathematical tool to study, quantitatively, the decision making of a musical consumer influenced by his emotions. The main conclusion being its importance in the music industry, since the function could predict, theoretically, whether a song will be accepted or rejected by the consumer in comparison with the competition.

The level of development of the innovation factor plays a crucial role in supporting the high-quality development of China's economy. To advance the development of regional innovation factor allocation efficiency along the Belt and Road. This article introduces the super-efficiency SBM-DEA-Malmquist model for the static and dynamic analysis of innovation factor allocation efficiency in 17 provinces along the Belt and Road from 2012 to 2021. The Moran index model analyzes the spatial correlation. The results show that: (1) The overall innovation factor allocation efficiency along the Belt and Road is not high, and there are obvious differences among different regions. The eastern region is the highest compared to other regions. (2) According to the efficiency decomposition results, pure technical efficiency is the main reason for the low innovation factor allocation efficiency. (3) Through the Malmquist index and decomposition index, it is found that pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency are key factors in improving technical efficiency. (4) The analysis of spatial correlation reveals a strong spatial agglomeration feature among the provinces along the Belt and Road. The innovation factor allocation efficiency is mainly manifested in the L-L type. Finally, according to the analysis results, suggestions and policies are put forward to improve the innovation factor allocation efficiency in the regions along the Belt and Road.

Eco-agricultural technology is crucial to alleviating agricultural resource scarcity and environ-mental pressures. However, financial constraint affects its successful promotion. Digital finance has a significant impact on farmers, but existing research lacks an exploration of the impact of digital finance on farmers' adoption of eco-agricultural technology. This study focuses on Rice–Crayfish Co-cultivation Technology as an example. It utilizes survey data from 1,063 households in China. An Endogenous Switching Probit model is employed to solve self-selection bias. The results reveal several key findings. First, the average treatment effect on the treated is 51.5%. This indicates that if farmers who use digital finance were to stop using it, the probability of adopting rice–crayfish co-cultivation technology would decrease by 51.5%. Therefore, digital finance is beneficial for farmers in adopting this technology. Second, heterogeneity analysis reveals that digital finance has a greater promoting effect on older farmers, those with lower education levels, and higher proportions of agricultural income. This suggests a greater reliance on digital financial services among vulnerable groups. Third, digital finance promotes farmers' adoption of rice–crayfish co-cultivation technology by alleviating financial constraints, expanding information channels, and increasing social capital accumulation. Overall, the findings offer valuable insights for for-mulating supportive policies.

This article describes the POTENTIALS project, which aimed to develop business models for the reuse of former industrial and mining sites in different regions. The project focused on the creation of eco-industrial parks as a result to enable sustainable energy production and reduce waste and pollution. A key aspect was the Territorial Impact Assessment (TIA), a new and complex policy assessment tool. Therefore, the TEQUILA (Territorial Efficiency Quality and Identity Layer Assessment) approach is used to describe the TIA and emphasizes its application in assessing the impact of EU policies and projects on territorial cohesion. It underlines the need for a differentiated understanding of the regional characteristics and potential impacts of policies; and stresses the importance of regionalized impact models for the assessment. Furthermore, the process and results of applying the TEQUILA methodology to assess the territorial impact of different scenarios of business models within the POTENTIALS project is given.

This paper focuses on the paradigm that explains the link between energy transitions and financial transformations. In particular, it attempts to shed some light on the following question: How did the transition from wood to coal affect financial development in late 18^th and early 19^th century Britain? The results demonstrate that the energy transition in Britain during the 1^st Industrial Revolution constituted an important moment in the country's financial development and can be used as an example of how an energy innovation can foster the financial development of particular countries or regions.

The purpose of this study is to assess the solid waste management status and practice in Sendafa town, Oromia regional state residents. In order to achieve this goal, the researcher intends to employ both primary and secondary data from the Sendafa town municipality. With the aid of multi-cluster sampling and a purposive sampling method, the researchers chose a sample size of 398 people and 10 interview responders. To utilize a systematic sampling technique at intervals of residences, individual samples were chosen. Quantitative data was cleaned and analysed using STATA software. A multiple linear regression model and logistic regression other descriptive statistics methods were then used to change the results. The qualitative data were imported, coded, and thematised using ATLAS.ti.9 in order to prepare respondents' interviews for analysis. The findings indicate that residents' poor solid waste management practices are a result of a lack of awareness, low family income transportation issues, issues with waste collectors, a lack of a sense of responsibility and belonging, and a failure to enforce current solid waste management laws. Solid waste accumulates near roads, bridges, and residential areas that are close to landfills, contaminating the area and leading to diseases like TB and Asthma (and other related health issues in children and adults who live there). Thus, researcher recommends that to have sustainable solid waste management the town administrators should have plan to develop awareness creation symposium or panel of discussion, resolve transportation issues, monitor and guide the routine activities of waste collectors, develop sense of belongingness for themselves and for the community, develop integrated solid waste land fill projects and working with all stakeholders like NGO and health institution will minimize the adverse effect of improper solid waste management. Digital transformation has become a strategic priority for the enterprises, the public organizations, and the cities lately since it addresses the adoption of cutting-edge information and communication technologies (ICT) for optimizing their business processes and for generating new types of value to their end users. Although the Covid-19 pandemic is claimed to be over, it appears that organizations and cities changed their digital transformation strategies that had defined before the outbreak. The aim of this paper is to investigate the type of changes that were caused both to enterprises and cities due to the pandemic. It investigates whether and in which directions it caused business changes and how the smart city strategic objectives were affected due to pandemic, especially in cases where digital transformation strategies were defined before the outbreak. This study uses bibliometric analysis to determine the effects of Covid-19 on businesses and cities. Findings specify strategic changes and important trends, like the migration of the production supply chains to nearby territories. Moreover, this article utilizes the European Intelligent Cities Challenge initiative, in which cities had defined their priorities for their digital transformation before the outbreak. From the analysis of the strategic plans of the involved cities, it is attempted to determine whether, which cities and in which directions they changed their strategies due to the pandemic.

Green economy has emerged as a significant pillar of sustainable development in the current global context, and the unpredictability of economic policy has progressively garnered the interest of businesses and government officials as one of the obstacles they must confront. This paper examines how uncertainty in the green economy impacts the green economy's efficacy. The research concentrates on how changes in a particular region can result in geospatial diffusion (spatial spillover), which is a form of spatial spillover wherein the uncertainty of the green economy can impact its efficacy. This paper examines the policy formulation and current state of the green economy across various regions, as well as the diffusion of economic policy uncertainty across geographical areas and the subsequent impact on the green economy's status quo. There is a negative correlation between economic policy uncertainty and green economy efficacy, according to research. There is a spatial spillover effect between economic policy uncertainty and the efficacy of the green economy. Regional variations exist in the impact of economic policy uncertainty on the efficacy of the green economy. The findings indicate that the implementation of AI has a more substantial beneficial effect on carbon emissions. An increase in carbon dioxide emissions poses a growing challenge for the industrial sector in its pursuit of carbon neutrality.

Plantation-based farmer cooperatives play an important role in promoting agricultural modernization and increasing farmer income, and the management of business risks of such cooperatives not only influences the development of the cooperatives themselves, but also concerns the interests of farmers. Based on the survey data of 226 sample cooperatives from Guizhou province, this article uses factor analysis to measure business risks of plantation-based farmer cooperatives and carries out empirical tests on influence factors of business risks through structural equation model. According to the research results, the ordering of business risks of plantation-based farmer cooperative based on their significance is as follows: market risk > policy risk > natural risk > technical risk > management risk. Influence factors including policy environment, economic environment, social service environment, technical environment, resource endowment of the cooperative and manager characteristics have significant positive influence on the cooperative, with economic environment and manager characteristics generating relatively stronger influence and social service environment generating relatively weaker influence. Through this research, several policy implications on driving high-quality development of plantation-based farmer cooperative are made, including specifying supportive policies of plantation-based farmer cooperative, improving economic environment of agricultural market, upgrading agricultural infrastructure, depending reform of land transfer system, and enhancing internal management of the cooperative.

In the broader landscape of cryptocurrency risk management, this study delves into the nuanced estimation of Value at Risk (VaR) for a uniformly weighted portfolio of cryptocurrencies, employing the bivariate Normal Inverse Gaussian distribution renowned for its semi-heavy tails. Utilizing high-frequency data spanning from January 1st, 2017, to October 25th, 2022, with a primary focus on Bitcoin and Ethereum, our research seeks to accentuate the resilience of VaR methodology as a paramount risk assessment tool. The essence of our investigation lies in advancing the comprehension of VaR accuracy by quantitatively comparing observed returns of both cryptocurrencies with their corresponding estimated values, with a central theme being the endorsement of the Normal Inverse Gaussian distribution as a potent model for risk measurement, particularly in the domain of high-frequency data. To bolster the statistical reliability of our results, we adopt a forward test methodology, showcasing not only a contribution to the evolution of risk assessment techniques in Finance but also underscoring the practicality of sophisticated distributional models in econometrics. Our findings not only contribute to the refinement of risk assessment methods but also highlight the applicability of such models in precisely modeling and forecasting financial risk within the dynamic realm of cryptocurrencies, epitomized by the case study of Bitcoin and Ethereum.

This work proposes a simple model to take into account the annual volatility of the mortality level observed on the scale of a country like France in the construction of prospective mortality tables. By assigning a fragility factor to a basic hazard function, we generalize the Lee-Carter model. The impact on prospective life expectancies and capital requirements in the context of a life annuity scheme is analyzed in detail.

This research aims to understand the Cambodian green economy transition and analyze its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT). The research showed that Cambodia has been significantly transitioning its green economy since 2009 as evidenced by the National Green Growth Roadmap. Cambodia also established the National Council for Green Growth in 2012 and upgraded it to the National Council for Sustainable Development in 2015 in alignment with 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development of the United Nations. The members of the Council are from all the government’s ministries and relevant inter-ministerial councils/committees, which are significant for policymaking. All governors of the capital and provincial administrations are also its members, which are significant for supporting and implementing the works at the subnational levels. Under the structure of the Council’s Secretariat, Department of Green Economy is playing an important role in promoting green economic development in Cambodia by looking at national policies and strategic plans, undertaking projects, and mobilizing resources. Through coordination between this Department and UNIDO, Cambodia in 2022 became a Member of the United Nations Partnership for Action on Green Economy. The findings showed that Cambodia is transitioning its green economy at the right time, especially the new government’s Pentagonal Strategy strongly supported this green economy transition with a clear and strong political commitment. The national inter-ministerial council for sustainable development is also very significant for cross sectoral policy-making and implementing levels, inclusively for promoting green economic development.

The growing concern about climate change and global warming has driven greater involvement of international organizations, countries, companies, and society in general in acting and ensur-ing the life of our planet and the sustainability of future generations. Sustainability and finance are two concepts that are intertwined through sustainable finance, serving as an instrument that guides financial resources towards achieving sustainable development. Sustainability allows companies to identify risks and opportunities, being responsible for measuring their social, envi-ronmental, and economic impact under a multi-stakeholder approach. One of the three main cri-teria of sustainability is corporate governance, and the main corporate governance body is the board of directors, where the composition of the board and its supervision and monitoring func-tions improve the ESG performance. A relevant aspect within the board of directors is the ade-quate balance of gender diversity on the board, becoming an aspect regulated by laws and cor-porate governance code. This article develops the main concepts related to sustainability, sus-tainable finance and corporate governance describing the current situation of these topics and their relationship, creating a conceptual framework that allows identifying topics necessary for further empirical research and the implication of regulation in the scope of ESG issues.

Abstract: The establishment of a circular economy in the mining sector, taking advantage of innovations in the exploration and development of hydrocarbon reserves, [ ], their [ ], transportation [ ] and subsequent processing [ ] are significant concerns. The issues surrounding the employment of technology targeted at enhancing environmental safety to increase the productivity of the reproduction process of the natural gas and oil resource base are equally important. The paper discusses the use of green seismic technology of survey to determine the oil and gas potential of the subsoil. A methodological toolkit is proposed for carrying out technical and economic calculations to determine indicators of the environmental and economic efficiency of using innovative resource-saving technology for geological survey in areas densely planted with forests. The purpose of the work is to establish the viability of employing resource-saving technology known as Green Seismic to search for promising hydrocarbon objects in forested areas and determine the expected environmental and economic benefits of geological exploration using the suggested enhanced methodology for their evaluation. The tasks set to achieve the goal were solved using methods of geological and economic assessment of the hydrocarbon raw material potential of territories and water areas, environmental assessment of the negative influence of anthropogenic environmental impact on the natural environment, economic and statistical methods of performing technical and economic calculations to determine performance indicators for the implementation of innovative projects in the field of geological exploration. The novelty of the results obtained lies in the proposed improved algorithm for conducting an environmental and economic assessment of geological exploration for hydrocarbon raw materials, a conceptual description of the Green Seismic technology, systematization of technical, economic, and environmental risks, justification of new regional directions for geological exploration using resource-saving seismic exploration technology.

This paper evaluates the global sustainable competitiveness of three blocks of power (US, China and EU) based on OGT (Organic Growth Theory) structure. In addition, a sensitivity analysis of COVID-19 on three measures of global sustainable competitiveness, economy, environment and social is also presented. OGT is a well-thought-through and standard framework for evaluation of any type of organiza-tion in their pathway to experience truly sustainable growth. GDP (Gross Domestic Product) is used as an economic measure; total carbon emissions equivalent is used as an environmental measure and HMI (Human Development Index) as a social measure. It is concluded that the pandemic has paused the evolution of countries to be truly world centric countries. However, the recovery plans seem to be highly aligned with the OGT scores and it is expected that the scores to improve dramatically.

The Power Theory of Exchange and Money (PTEM) refines the economic neoclassical two-equation model of exchange. PTEM replaces the statistical average condition of exchange, which represents the equality of supply and demand for all transactions in the market, with a more specific equation of the equality of the generalized power of the parties in relation to their objects of exchange. The purpose of the article is to show the application of PTEM for the study of various social phenomena. Along with a brief summary of the main statements of this theory, its integration into the existing corpus of theories and ideas in economics and sociology is considered. The conclusions of power theory are then applied to consider the following topics: the objective motivation of exchange by the desire to increase power, the power nature of market equilibrium, the power nature of money, the accumulation of power through profit, the creation of money as a power act, the role of the state in the creation of money, the measure of power as a possible tool for social and political research.

Municipal Solid Waste Management (MSWM) struggles with significant policy and operational challenges, particularly concerning recyclables collection routes and fleet composition. Within the European Union, phasing out traditional fuel-based vocational vehicles, like garbage trucks, in favor of zero-emission alternatives is mandatory to achieve sustainable development objectives. Integrating electric solid waste collection vehicles into municipal fleets presents challenges due to differences in range, capacity, and noise levels. The emission is even more crucial in the systems where recyclables are collected separately, which requires a greater number of trips to be performed. This study addresses MSWM’s strategic aspect by minimizing the total cost of replacing waste collection vehicles while meeting emission constraints. The Fleet Transition Problem (FTP) was formulated and solved using a MARKAL-based approach. The objective of the FTP and a mixed integer linear program used to solve it is minimizing the overall cost of fleet modernization throughout a multi-phase planning horizon so that the sustainable transition of the fleet can be assured. Computational experiments affirmed the model’s effectiveness in strategizing fleet transition. This research outlines a multi-period model for transitioning to a zero-emission fleet and demonstrates the FTP’s potential for strategic decision-making. Notably, the study observes a consistent reduction in permissible emissions across the planning horizon.

This research identifies the resilience factors of tax centers in Cameroon. To do so, we use binary logistic regression on data collected from tax revenue mobilization centers (TRMC). the results show that the digitization of the tax system and leadership are factors in absorbing the crisis. Access to electricity and staff at the center are the recovery factors for the level of revenue after the crisis. We recommend that public institutions improve the digitalization processes of tax administrations. The transmission channels of digitization such as access to electricity and telecommunications networks must be ensured in the tax centers. Furthermore, we propose to increase the number of tax centers or to build tax kiosks to reduce the distance between taxpayers and their centers of attachment.

In Bangladesh, family businesses play a significant role in the country's business landscape because so few private companies are set up as large-scale, non-family ownership firms. Thus, it is vital to comprehend family businesses in order to comprehend Bangladeshi company dynamics. In this paper, authors attempted to survey the existing research in the area of family business in Bangladesh. It was found that the area as a research is totally an open field and a lot of new research can be done in the said area. Although a good number of studies can be classified as focused on the SME (small and medium enterprise) domain, a major shortcoming of those SME studies is that the SMEs themselves vary greatly in terms of size, scope, and technology. Whereas most of the family businesses can be predominantly put in the SME category, the particular issue of family business and family dynamics is not very common in those studies. This paper suggests that a good amount of research or studies can be done focusing on family business constitution, family members' participation norm, recruitment and promotion norm, family business succession rules and succession planning, training for family business leadership and management, training for board and directorial supervision, and so on.

Traditional shipping ships abbreviated as Pelra have a different character from conventional ships. Hypothetically, the application of Safety Management System (SMS) on Pelra is influenced by technical and non-technical factors. These factors are control variables and determinants of action priorities if SMS is applied to the safety of traditional shipping, so that it has implications as a basis for formulating and developing safety policies for traditional shipping transportation in an effort to reduce the risk of accidents. This research uses Structural Equation Modeling by analyzing expert opinions. The results of the analysis show that technical and non-technical factors have a direct and interconnected effect on Pelra safety management. The dominant influences are non-technical factors of authority and responsibility of the company and crew as well as the feasibility of ship construction as technical and environmental factors..

Addressing nautical bottlenecks is crucial to optimize the utilization of inland waterways and maximize economic benefits of transports. To maximize economic benefits, a study was conducted to validate a Key Performance Indicator (KPI)-based framework. This framework offers a structured approach to assess the impact of resolved nautical bottlenecks on the economic benefits of inland waterway transport (IWT). To validate the applicability of the KPI framework, interviews with eleven experts were conducted. The goal was to prioritize each KPI based on their insights. The results of the interviews shed light on the relevance and coherence of both the individual KPIs and the overall KPI framework. The experts confirmed the importance of measures related to transportation efficiency, such as reduced transit times, increased vessel throughput, and enhanced reliability. The validated KPI-based framework serves as a valuable tool for policymakers, industry stakeholders, and researchers. It enables the assessment of the effects of resolving nautical bottlenecks in inland waterway systems. Future research should focus on quantifying the multifaceted impacts, making this framework even more useful for decision-making processes concerning investments in infrastructure upgrades and maintenance.

Aiming to investigate the impact of strategic knowledge disclosure on the continuous realization of digital innovation in enterprises, this study examines data from 168 listed companies across three high-tech industries in China from 2012 to 2021. By examining investor trust, consumer trust, worker trust, and rival trust as mediating variables within the market trust dimension, this research explores the impact mechanism of strategic knowledge disclosure on the sustainability of input and output in digital innovation. The findings reveal that strategic knowledge disclosure significantly promotes both input and output sustainability in digital innovation. Specifically, investor trust positively mediates the relationship between strategic knowledge disclosure and the sustainability of digital innovation input. Similarly, consumer trust and worker trust positively mediate the association between strategic knowledge disclosure and both input and output sustainability in digital innovation. However, it is important to note that rival trust negatively mediates the link between strategic knowledge disclosure and both input and output sustainability in digital innovation. The research findings possess significant theoretical value and provide valuable guidance for promoting the sustainable development of digital innovation in enterprises.

Online streaming contents are creating greater service uncertainty, as consumers need to experience such contents before making a decision to continue to purchase them. Few studies have investigated the interaction between eWOM (online word-of-mouth) and online streaming content service characteristics in online streaming contents’ performance and explained the way this interaction can promote service characteristics’ role in service performance or remedy service uncertainty attributable to these characteristics. Thus, this paper examines the interaction between eWOM and service (webtoon) characteristics (i.e., author experience, genre (drama or fantasy), completion, transfer to pay service, and publication time (Wednesday)) on online streaming contents’ service performance measures such as publication period and gamification of contents. Author experience and genre interact with the number of reviews to affect gamification. The transfer to pay service interacts crucially with review ratings and the number of reviews to influence both publication period and gamification. Online streaming contents completion and publication time are interacting factors with review ratings that affected publication period. Service providers need to cope with service uncertainty in furthering online streaming contents service by considering service characteristics as well as customers’ responses through eWOM.

The need of research is often a complex issue. The standardization of methodologies, deeply rooted in the scientific method, has allowed humanity to progress. Since the fashion industry represents one of the most problematic industries globally, it is paramount to investigate the handicaps of fashion research practice. The goal of this systematic review is to outline the most used methodologies in the fashion research field that are being explored to achieve sustainability goals. The findings highlight the fragmentation of the literature in fashion research methodologies in relation to sustainability. Interviews and case studies are the most used methods while other less conventional, like Social Life Cycle Assessment, have been also tried. Finally, it is tested how ChatGPT can discuss and inform future routes to incorporate the findings. Together, this work reveals the handicaps of the fashion research methodologies and show an example on how ChatGPT can be assessed to help the fashion practitioners define research plans to achieve sustainable goals.

Climate change and net zero are expected to have a significant impact on eco-nomic activity in developing countries, and thus, on the financial cash flow of organizations. In this paper, we propose a procedure for assessing the financial impact of climate change on organizational cash flow in developing countries. Our study contributes to the research on scenario-based climate change impact analysis. The applied research design is exploratory and mainly qualitative, constructing financial impact scenarios combined with narratives to determine the impact of climate change on individual cash flow line items. The narra-tives rationalize cash flow variations and enrich the estimates by adding expert knowledge, in the form of financial micro-stories and descriptions to the pro-posed procedure. We present a hypothetical citrus farming company in a de-veloping country to demonstrate the application of the proposed measurement procedure. The results obtained suggest that (1) the procedure is practical be-cause financial cash flows are known and widely used in financial analysis and because they can be implemented in a spreadsheet; that (2) the procedure pro-vides flexibility because it can be adapted to suit the specific needs of different companies, depending on a selected climate change scenario, the company’s exposure to climate change, its resilience and vulnerability; (3) that the prac-tice of thinking in terms of financial worst-case, base-case and best-case sce-narios, which reflect different levels of uncertainty, helps to model the finan-cial impacts of climate change and provides a forward-looking perspective on how much a company’s cash flow could change.

Recently, e-commerce companies have been adopting and continuously enhancing personalized product recommendation systems, and there is active research in this field within academia. However, personalized product recommendations in offline retail stores have not yielded significant outcomes thus far. Especially for small-format offline retail businesses like convenience stores, where customer information might be limited, providing personalized product recommendations poses even greater challenges. To address this issue, this study aimed to find a solution by shifting the perspective on recommendation methods and altering the target of recommendations in existing personalized recommendation models. In this study, recommending products that customers need in an offline store was defined as suggesting products that should be introduced and displayed within the store. In other words, the recommendation focus shifted from individuals to the stores themselves. This recommendation system proposes products that individual stores have not yet introduced but are anticipated to be purchased by customers among the products managed by the headquarters. Building upon this, we devised a store-based product recommendation system. The widely used user-based collaborative filtering model, a common technique in existing recommendation systems, was adapted into a store-based collaborative filtering model. Furthermore, various rules and logic pertinent to store operations and business considerations for convenience stores were integrated to implement this store product recommendation system. The accuracy and effectiveness of the system were demonstrated through its application in actual convenience stores. Results from the pilot implementation of the system showed that 88% of the newly recommended products in individual stores were sold based on one week of sales data, and the sales revenue was 1.75 times higher than the average sales revenue of those products across the entire company. Survey results on business owners' satisfaction yielded a score of 4.2 out of 5, indicating a high level of contentment. Additional observed effects included the expansion of product range and reduction in order lead times. However, 12% of the total recommended SKUs did not sell within one week, and 34% of the SKUs did not meet the overall average sales quantity. This research holds significance in extending the scope of personalized recommendation studies from primarily online platforms to offline retail businesses like convenience stores. It provides tangible methodologies and outcomes that can be implemented in real-world settings through the construction and validation of an actual system. The study also suggests avenues for future research to address some of the identified limitations.

Good health and well-being is one of the essential SDGs that ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all ages and further entails providing substantial medical services to the public at low cost and with minimal adverse effects on the environment. Information and communication technologies (ICTs) have taken on an increasingly important function as significant facilitators of healthcare reform, with the goals of enhancing access to health services, the quality of treatment provided, and the overall productivity of the healthcare system. However, the integration of ever-increasing ICT technologies into the healthcare systems, also referred to as digital transformation, is not a straightforward process, but it comes with different types of challenges from integration level to application design level and security level. Although several studies have been proposed to address the integration of ICT technologies into healthcare systems, there is still a need for a comprehensive research study on the integration and design challenges, security and privacy challenges, application areas, and possible positive and negative impacts. Therefore, this paper contributes as the research literature study covering an important SDG, "Good health and well-being," and its digital transformation, along with summarising our research findings in a detailed and taxonomical way. To start with, firstly, we present a detailed comparison of existing studies on healthcare and well-being, mainly focusing on integrating ICT technologies in healthcare in terms of sustainable aspects, security and privacy challenges, design and integration challenges, E-health-related applications, and future directions. We also present an overview and the need for digital transformation in healthcare, discuss its significant components, highlight E-health's importance and benefits, explore its integration and design challenges, and categorise the security and privacy challenges. Next, we present an in-depth discussion on the role of Blockchain technology as today's leading technology in E-health, discussing Blockchain technology and its characteristics, highlighting its benefits, and describing the possible types of Blockchain-based E-health use cases. Furthermore, we discuss the positive and negative impact of ICT integration along with identifying open issues and challenges of integrating ICT technologies into the healthcare systems and discuss future research directions, which provide the strength for researchers to address the issues in future solutions.

The prevalence of chronic diseases is dramatically increasing demand for emergency healthcare. Existing systems rely on patients self-identifying symptoms, causing dangerous delays. This study develops an AI and IoT-powered “digital twin” solution to enable continuous real-time monitoring and timely prediction of diverse medical emergencies. A digital twin is a virtual representation of an individual, modeled using multidimensional physiological data from wearable sensors. Machine learning techniques analyze patterns in this data to identify anomalies and predict emergencies like heart attacks or falls. A key contribution is an optimized ensemble algorithm combining gradient boosted trees, neural networks, and other techniques to accurately detect emergency events. Evaluation on a dataset of 9158 samples shows the digital twin identifies key emergencies with over 90% recall, enabling prevention and rapid response. It allows risk stratification and personalized interventions based on early warnings, circumventing over 2 million avoidable emergency room visits annually. This study demonstrates the feasibility of an integrated, predictive, patient-centric emergency response system enabled by digital twin technology.

The Internet of Things (IoT) was born from the fusion of virtual and physical space and became the initiator of many scientific fields. Economic sustainability is the key to further development and progress. Today, the need for electronic commerce has become an economic priority in the transition period between Industry 4.0 and Industry 5.0. Unlike mass production in Industry 4.0, customized production in Industry 5.0 should reach its true potential in vertically organized management and decision-making systems. The authors focused their research on e-commerce based on the three-level vertical IoT environment and the edge, fog, and cloud computing. The paper presents hands-on machine learning (ML) algorithms to facilitate the transition from a flat to a vertical e-commerce concept. The authors also propose practical ML algorithms for a few e-commerce types: consumer-consumer relationships and consumer-company-consumer relationships. These algorithms are mainly composed of convolution neural networks (CNN), natural language understanding (NLU) and sequential pattern mining (SPM), reinforcement learning (RL for agent training), algorithms for clicking on the item prediction, consumer behavior learning, etc. All presented concepts, algorithms, and models are described in detail.

The selectin of a demand forecasting method is critical for companies aiming to avoid manufacturing overproduction or shortages in pursuit of sustainable development. Various qualitative and quantitative criteria with different weights must be considered during the evaluation of a forecasting method. The qualitative criteria and criteria weights are usually assessed in linguistic terms. Aggregating these various criteria and linguistic weights for evaluating and selecting demand forecasting methods in sustainable manufacturing is a major challenge. This paper proposes an extension of fuzzy Elimination and Choice Translating Reality (ELECTRE) I to resolve this problem. In the proposed method, fuzzy weighted ratings are defuzzified with the signed distance to develop a crisp ELECTRE I model. Moreover, an extension to ELECTRE I is developed by suggesting an extended modified discordance matrix and a closeness coefficient for ranking alternatives. The proposed extension can overcome the problem of information loss which can lead to incorrect ranking result when using the Hadamard product to combine concordance and modified discordance matrices. A comparison is conducted to show the advantage of the proposed extension. Finally, a numerical example is used to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed method; furthermore, a numerical comparison is made to display the advantage of the proposed method.

However, there is no end to the number of women who leave the workforce after life events such as childbirth or child rearing.　For example, in Fukuoka Prefecture (population 5.1 million) alone, where we are based, it is estimated that there are 43,300 potential female workers. Many of these women have have been employed in the past, but have left the workforce due to childbirth, family care, or other reasons, and still wish to work. However, although this group has potential employment needs, they have not yet engaged in specific job-hunting activities, and thus are on the periphery of the labor market, without access to the current active labor market. There are many promising potential employees there, and support for their career redevelopment and participation in the labor market is required. On the other hand, few studies have been conducted in Japanese prefectures to systematically estimate social value, i.e., to determine the scope of impact on society and the stakeholders. This is an obstacle to the formulation of policies for women's advancement and the establishment of related social projects. This paper is aware of this problem and, based on the support for women seeking to re-enter society (career redevelopment) that the authors are implementing, selects seven prefectures in Kyushu, which is also a wide economic zone, as a support area and estimates the social value to companies and families in these areas by using SROI. As a result, it was derived that if 3,586 individuals were reemployed, the SROI ratio (1:X) X would be 76.1 in the first year of reintegration assistance activities and X would be 313.3 in the fourth year.

This paper examines the Business Model (BM) from a socioeconomic system perspective to discern key factors, and understand its interactions resulting in the Scaling of Social Impact (SSI) in Social Entrepreneurship (SE). Previously, studies have explained the importance of BM in relation to SE. However, there is a lack of empirical studies on how BM’s transitions through participation of various actors result in SSI. This research applies qualitative analysis on a single case study of a Japanese social startup, “mymizu”, the first water refill application platform in Japan. The findings show that collaboration amongst different stakeholders on the initial phase of the BM could increase awareness of responsible consumption, convert into actual users for sustainability, and change their behavior. Secondly, members of the society could take on dual roles, both as users and collaborators in the BM, which results in an exponential scaling effect of the social impact. This paper contributes towards adding a participatory stakeholder (PS) to the ecosystem of SSI and building a “regenerative” BM that is relevant in SE towards sustainability.

In recent years, groups of cyber criminals/hackers have carried out cyber-attacks using various tactics with the goal of destabilizing web services in a specific context for which they are motivated. Predicting these attacks is a critical task that assists in determining what actions should be taken to mitigate the effects of such attacks and to prevent them in the future. Although there are programs to detect security concerns on the internet, there is currently no system that can anticipate or foretell whether the attacks will be successful. This research aims to develop sustain-able strategies to reduce threats, vulnerability, and data manipulation of chatbots, consequently improving cyber security. To achieve this goal, we develop a conversational chatbot, an application that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to communicate, and deploy it on social media sites (e.g., Twitter) for cyber security purposes. Chatbots have the capacity to consume large amounts of information and give an appropriate response in an efficient and timely manner, thus rendering them useful in predicting threats emanating from social media. The research utilizes sentiment analysis strategy by employing chatbots on Twitter (and analyzing Twitter data) for predicting future threats and cyber-attacks. The strategy is based on a daily collection of tweets from two types of users: those who use the platform to voice their opinions on important and relevant subjects, and those who use it to share information on cyber security attacks. The research pro-vides tools and strategies for developing chatbots that can be used for assessing cyber threats on social media through sentiment analysis leading to a global sustainable development of businesses. Future research may utilize and improvise on the tools and strategies suggested in our research to strengthen the knowledge domain of chatbots, cyber security, and social media.

Globally, large numbers of adults remain unbanked and most of them live in rural areas of the Third World. The recent outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has shown us how inequalities in accessing financial services continue to affect us. However, financial inclusion has emerged as an effective tool to tackle socioeconomic ills and drive economic development. In fact, due to these modern technological developments, the number of studies in this area is very limited, especially in the context of developing economies. This study examines the impacts of migrant remittances on digital financial inclusion within households using the Migration and Remittance Household Survey in Bangladesh. To meet the research objectives of this study, a household survey was conducted and interviewed 2,165 households in 2022-2023 in Bangladesh. This study finds that the coefficient of remittance has a positive relationship with the probability of using mobile banking for a household's financial transactions. However, the use of ATM cards by households for financial transactions has not been significantly affected. The article concludes that remittance flows may enhance access to and use of digital financial inclusion by reducing some of the barriers and costs in Bangladesh, which can greatly contribute to the country's economic growth by creating and increasing a strong fund for investment.

In spite of the significant progress towards sustainable cosmetics, mass-produced sustainable packaging has proven to be a challenge. The complexity of environmental, economic, social, technological and policy considerations in conjunction with varying consumer behaviors and corporate goals can make it difficult to select an optimal strategy across heterogeneous supply-chain components spread over the globe; and the cost and effort of developing, testing and validating alternative strategies discourages empirical exploration of potential alternatives. This review discusses the challenges that can be expected in the context of broader sustainability efforts, as well as the experience gained in related fields such as sustainable cosmetics and sustainable packaging, to identify potential pitfalls as well as promising trends towards development of sustainable cosmetics packaging. The findings suggest there may be little to be gained from attempting to induce customers to change their behavior; waiting for a significant increase in global recycling infrastructure; or expecting regulatory constraints to substitute for the lack of technological and business solutions. A research strategy is delineated towards development of sustainable packaging that, with appropriate policy support, could minimize externalities and provide mass-produced packaging that is acceptable to both consumers and producers.

The present study reports a critical review of NIO's business model, considering the evolving landscape of the electric vehicle market and servicing. The objective of this study is to develop a comprehensive framework that facilitates the identification of key elements characterizing a company's business model and highlights ongoing transformations, crucial for adaptation and survival in a rapidly changing environmental context. Focusing on the case study of NIO, a relatively young Chinese original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specializing in high-tech electric cars, the research delves into the challenging scenario of the Chinese electric vehicle market, which has recently faced a bubble in 2023. The market proliferation, supply chain disruptions, and price wars triggered by Tesla have resulted in a survival struggle for numerous automotive startups, leaving larger companies with increasing market shares. Despite facing adversities, NIO managed to secure a promising segment, catering to premium-range battery electric vehicles (BEVs), establishing a competitive advantage through differentiation. By pursuing ambitious investments, the company aims to create economies of scope and achieve cost leadership, venturing into new market sectors and vertically integrating the production chain. Given NIO's agility in adapting to market conditions, aggressive entry into new segments, and a strategic vision for the future, it serves as an excellent candidate for testing and validating the proposed framework. The research sheds light on NIO's trajectory and offers insights into its potential for sustained growth in the dynamic electric vehicle market.

The analysis of the 2002 Prestige tanker accident showed how public misinformation can worsen marine pollution incidents, rendering their management suboptimal as these evolve, raising thus the issue of appropriately informing and educating coastal and island populations at risk. Two decades later, developments in electronic platforms, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), in Automatic Identification System (AIS) for ship signal transmission, and in social media, provide a set of means for public monitoring of such incidents, creating the possibility to antagonize effec-tively erroneous, or malevolent information which can hinder efficient actions for containing ma-rine pollution risks even without active training of populations concerned. The authors, in the framework of development of the Marine Coastal Observatory and Risk Management project “AEGIS+”, have developed E-S.A.V.E., an online platform which: a) meets the needs of different users as revealed by a survey run across groups of them, b) uses a suitable Geographic Infor-mation Systems (GIS) environment, c) cooperates with public authorities, for the reliable update of automated systems, and d) employs an artificial intelligence (AI) supported tool for social me-dia monitoring; the platform also provides educational and information national and interna-tional resources on marine environmental protection and sustainable maritime logistics.

The main purpose is to create a model for managing sustainability in the metro and its entities in Gauteng. Within this context, the study will focus on the issue of measures, outcomes, and impacts in the City of Johannesburg (CoJ). The study will clarify a public sector application in municipal entities of the CoJ because sustainability is not well understood or used in the public sector. This article investigates the sustainability phenomena in a metropolitan setting, including the CoJ and its municipal entities. The purpose is rather two-fold. A focus group discussion was held with CoJ senior executive managers to provide feedback on the sustainability model. The information and insights were used to refine the sustainability model to manage sustainability in Coj and its enti-ties. The data was analysed using thematic analysis to refine the sustainability model. The re-sults indicated that sustainability is a function of having a shared understanding of sustainabil-ity, the ability to mainstream and integrate sustainability thinking into all programmes and ac-tivities, leadership commitment, requisite competencies, and monitoring and evaluation of sus-tainability. The implication for leadership is to ensure the alignment of sustainability to the strategic objec-tives of CoJ and to foreground any planning in CoJ with a sustainability lens. Achieving this focus requires a shared understanding, development of competencies, committed leadership to imple-ment measurement and impact framework, and adjusting plans based on monitoring and evalua-tion outcomes.

Institutional sustainability is a dynamic and multifaceted concept that relies on the contributions of various institutions, including the legal and the scientific system. On the other side, consumers boycotts are an expression of political consumerism by which consumers can use their market power to attain sustainability objectives. This article explores institutional trust on the legal system and trust on scientists as potential drivers for consumers’ boycotts. Using data retrieved from the European Social Survey covering twenty-five countries, the study employs binary logistic regression to assess the importance of institutional trust and other potential drivers of product boycotts in Europe. Results confirm that boycotting behaviour is affected by institutional trust, as well as other individual variables including gender, age and life-cycle effects, education, interest in politics and level of satisfaction with the political system, generalized trust, personal well-being, and consumers’ use and perceptions of information and communication technologies. The results of this study enrich the literature on consumer boycotts and have implications for policymakers involved in sustainability initiatives.

The airline sector is critical in today's globalized society, supporting the efficient movement of people and products worldwide. Airlines are continuously looking for methods to enhance their operational performance to remain competitive in the face of increased competition. This study focuses on the application of Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) techniques to improve low-cost carrier (LCC) also known or low-cost (budget) airlines' ground operational performance. MCDM techniques have gained considerable attention in recent years to address complex decision problems with multiple conflicting goals. This research aims to bridge this gap by proposing a comprehensive framework that combines MCDM techniques to enhance airline operational strategies to increase performance. The study utilizes qualitative and quantitative data, drawing on previously published materials on MCDM techniques in the aviation sector. It utilizes fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and fuzzy Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) methodologies. A case study is conducted to evaluate the ground operational performance of three airline companies based in Türkiye, considering five main criteria and 18 sub-criteria. The findings of this research will contribute to a comprehensive understanding of operational performance in the airline sector. It also highlights the implications and limitations of the research and suggests future research directions.

The objective of the analysis carried out in this paper is to quantify the impact of subsidies on the activity of two vegetable farms, of different sizes in terms of agricultural area under cultivation, 600 ha and 3000 ha, which can constitute a model at macroeconomic level, indicating the ways in which these farms can ensure their income. For the analysis carried out, indicators were taken into account concerning production, net profit and subsidies received over a period of three years for the agricultural crops grown on these farms, identifying their contribution and effects on profitability. Descriptive statistics, visual inspections and basic comparison methods were also used, thus determining the patterns of the impact of subsidies and their variation for each of the existing crops in the vegetable farms studied. The data on which the statistical models are based are extracted from the financial statements of the farms analysed, giving the possibility of a predictive extension of the evolution of income and, very importantly, of their profitability. The conclusions revealed, for the 600 ha vegetable farm, that this farm maintained its area constant during the analysis period, benefiting from annual subsidies, and that the practice of crop diversification (rape, barley, winter wheat, oats, soybean, maize, lucerne), appropriate rotation, conservation farming and crop irrigation on 85.34% of the area, ensured average yields/ha that exceeded those recorded at national and regional level, except for 2020. The economic performance of this farm is oscillating in the period 2018-2021, with the ability to consistently generate profit, but in 2020 it is close to break-even, a year in which subsidy income tipped the balance towards positive but modest financial results. For this farm, the statistical model carried out was inconclusive because the farm optimises its cropping plan every year, depending on agrometeorological predictions, subsidy levels and market trends, changing crops, thus not being able to estimate the extent to which each crop contributes to maintaining the financial balance of the farm. Thus, although subsidies have impacted the level of net income, the extent to which they have done so is unclear. For the 3000 ha farm, the findings revealed that this farm also has a roughly constant area in use over the analysis period and for which it receives subsidies. This farm practices crop diversification (rape, barley, winter wheat, sunflower, soybean, grain maize, late potatoes, sweet potato, carrot and flowers) and adequate crop rotation. The data highlight that subsidies played a significant and sometimes overwhelming role in determining the gross output of each crop to achieve a positive value of this indicator. Modern conservation farming technologies and crop irrigation on 74.14% of the area justify the average yields/ha achieved, which again exceeded those recorded at national, regional and county level, with the exception of 2020. Maize and soybean crops consistently contributed to the farm's income, with a high gross product and net income, despite changes in the average yield per hectare achieved each year. Good and rising economic performance for this farm during the period under review, which justifies the profitability of the business from an economic, financial and commercial point of view. Although there have been fluctuations in the value of yields realized on different crops, net revenues continued to be high and even up significantly in 2021. Thus, the study highlighted and identified trends and patterns in agriculture, patterns that can serve as a source of information for relevant policy decisions, playing a key role in guiding future research and allocating resources efficiently in the agricultural sector.

In the context of "dual carbon", with the continuous deepening of the power system reform, the application of high proportion renewable energy is becoming increasingly widespread. All sectors of society have put forward higher requirements for electricity sales packages, which can guide the behavior of power users, promote energy conservation and emission reduction, and finally promote low-carbon operation of the power market economy.Therefore, the requirements of power users and power selling companies for the power selling package are increasing, which puts forward higher requirements to the power selling package recommended by the power selling company . However, the existing recommendation methods are unable to make appropriate recommendations for the users with lack of preference information. Therefore, this paper proposes a two-sided matching decision-making method of electricity sales package based on disappointment theory. First of all, according to the incomplete fuzzy preference relationship provided by the power user and the electricity sales package, the respective priority weight vector is obtained, and then the subjective satisfaction matrix of the power user and the electricity sales package to each other is obtained; Next, the adjusted satisfaction matrix is calculated by adding the influence of the theory of joy and disappointment; Then, based on the adjusted satisfaction matrix, an optimization model aiming at maximizing the total satisfaction of power users and electricity sales packages is established, and the optimal stable matching model of power users and electricity sales packages is obtained; Finally, taking an industrial park in Zhejiang Province as an example, by using the bilateral matching method proposed in this article, the optimal matching schemes for 5 power users and 6 electricity sales packages are obtained, which shows the effectiveness and rationality of the two-sided matching decision-making method of electricity sales package based on the disappointment theory proposed in this paper.

In the context of economic development and international economic integration, the logistics industry in Vietnam is developing to meet the market demand for the transportation of goods; thus, many logistics enterprises have been formulated and grown up in recent years. This research aims to measure the efficiency of logistics enterprises and recommend a feasible solution to improve their future performance by integrating the Super Slacked-based Measure model (Super-SBM) in Data Envelopment Analysis and Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Processes (Fuzzy AHP) in multi-criteria decision-making. The super-SBM model was utilized to conduct the efficiency scores of logistics enterprises from 2016 to 2022 based on calculating the ratio between input and output variables; the empirical result determined each enterprise's effectiveness and ineffectiveness. Next, the Fuzzy AHP method evaluated and ranked criteria that directly impacted the operational process of logistics enterprises based on experts' opinions; the examined result suggested a feasible direction to improve their business efficiency in the future. The proposed hybrid models are a helpful solution for efficiency determination and development direction for logistics enterprises. An overall picture of the logistics enterprises was also drawn to describe their operational business process.

To realize sustainable capture fisheries management, Nizam Zachman as an ocean fishing port in practice has taken action to regulate fishing vessels and large pelagic purse seine fishing gear which is a form of control on the application of fishing vessel seaworthiness in an effort to ensure compliance with provisions on safety aspects and the seaworthiness of fishing activities. This study aims to examine and determine the priority strategy of Nizam Zachman ocean fishing port in implementing the seaworthiness of large pelagic purse seine vessels. The analytical method used is descriptive statistics using SWOT and AHP analysis. The results showed that the SWOT analysis based on internal and external factors in the IFAS and EFAS matrices obtained factor values of 0.36 and -0.1 which were located in quadrant IV or the S-T strategy, which mean by strengthening the role of Nizam Zachman ocean fishing port in complying with rules for purse seine owners large pelagic with good supervision in supporting the sustainability of fishery resources. The results of the AHP analysis of prioritising the four implementation aspects of the fishing vessel seaworthiness policy are on the communication aspect (0.346) by means of holding regular outreach; the disposition aspect (0.242) by systematically assessing seaworthiness and the need for evaluation; the resource aspect (0.234) by increasing the number and capacity of fishing vessel seaworthiness inspectors, and on the bureaucratic aspect (0.177), by applying the rules of supervision with prevention through assistance to large pelagic purse seine owners.

Digitalization technologies have been identified as enablers for the adoption of Circular Economy practices. The machinery value chain, addressed in this study, is affected by the introduction of digital technologies that enable real-time monitoring data on product condition and control optimization deploying predictive analytics techniques, as well as the offerings of circular-based services. Machinery lifetime extension can be digitally enabled on both old and new machines. The research objectives were to investigate how digital technologies enable the adoption of circular economy-based business models in manufacturing companies and provide an answer about i) what Life Cycle Extension Strategy is suitable for digital circular business model adoption and ii) how digitalization of machines enables manufacturing companies to innovate their business model. The correlation matrix is the tool developed from the proposed approach; it aims at supporting manufacturers in the very first contact with circular business models. In the context of the European RECLAIM project, two manufacturers apply the approach, proving its validity and wide applicability. The next steps are expected to introduce quantitative indicators to define thresholds for the steps toward circularity, without replacing the qualitative approach, as it guarantees the wide applicability of the approach in context that never considered circularity yet.

The mobile payment has been emerging as an alternative to cash and credit cards and is rapidly evolving around the world. This study integrated the general model of innovation diffusion theory (IDT) with the technology acceptance model (TAM) to examine the impact of near-field-communication (NFC) mobile payment environment on the restaurant operating performance (ROP). This paper used convenience sampling to distribute questionnaires to restaurant owners and managers in order to investigate the impact of NFC mobile payment environment on ROP. A total of 279 valid questionnaires were collected. The empirical results show that sales growth, cost saving, flexibility, accessibility and trust &amp; safety had significantly positive impacts on ROP. After considering the restaurant size as a moderator for analysis, there are only two constructs- accessibility and trust &amp; safety had significant impacts on ROP. This empirical finding could provide restaurateurs with a reference to improve ROP by increasing the mobile payment environment.

E-commerce platforms created to meet the needs of digital consumers, who are the leading actors of digital-oriented consumption, are increasing rapidly. Revolutionizing our daily lives by offering the digital equivalent of real-world experiences, e-commerce now offers a comfortable shopping experience that transcends the limitations of time and space. This phenomenon has been embraced by individuals spanning all age groups, from young children to the elderly. Structural equation modeling was used in this study, in which the factors affecting online shopping addiction were determined. In this direction, the causal and correlational relationships between the variables of fear of missing out (FoMO), cognitive load, personality types, some socio-demographic characteristics (gender and monthly shopping amount) and online shopping addiction in online shopping were revealed structurally. Since the purposive sampling was used, the study was carried out on 488 people. The goodness-of-fit indices included in the created model were found at an “acceptable” level (χ2/df= 2.248, p=0.000; RMSEA=0.051; GFI=0.878; AGFI=0.856; CFI=0.950; NFI=0.914). These results show that the final version of the model meets the necessary criteria for a good fit, its validity and accuracy. The study revealed the causal and correlational relationship between online shopping addiction and cognitive load, personality types, FoMO, gender, and monthly online shopping amount.

Flexibility is perceived as a primary reason for working as a gig worker. However, there are not enough studies that investigate gig workers' motivations. Hence, this study aims to examine the motivation of white-collar gig workers using a sample size of 327 gig workers in Mongolia, a developing country’s labor market. The purpose of this study is to investigate intrinsic and extrinsic motivation factors for white-collar gig workers and their impact on behavioral intentions such as those of remote workers, freelancers, and any representatives of digital gig workers, not location-based gig workers. The primary data used in this study were collected through questionnaires from an online platform that attracts white-collar gig workers. The characteristics of this group are analyzed using Smart PLS4.0 software through the PLS-SEM technique to test the hypothesized relationships. Overall, the study contributes to an extension of current literature by understanding the white-collar digital gig workforce’s motivations and reasons behind it.

Background: Smart transport plays a crucial role in urban planning and the transition from traditional to smart cities in developing countries with sustainability requirements.Traditional cities in developing countries often suffer from traffic congestion,air pollution, and inadequate public transportation systems,which can impede economic growth and negatively impact the quality of life for residents. Smart transport solutions can address these challenges by providing more efficient, sustainable.Here is a possible business model for an ITS system in a high-potential city in Iran,Based on IoT analysis, Mashhad city in Iran selected as a high-potential city to be changed to a smart city in the transportation sector.In the localization business model,the Uber smart transportation business model as a successful world experience is considered the base model. Methods: Based on the literature review,various criteria and sub-criteria were identified and determined in designing a new localized transportation business model.A questionnaire was prepared and filled with the help of 11 experts,method IAHP technique; Results:The present study showed the possibility of monthly payments for customers,software development, and the addition of luxury cars are among the most important sub-criteria with high weights;Conclusions: Working with transport companies,schools and universities as key partners solves reaching a strong and sustainable smart transportation system.

The contemporary discourse focuses on the fourth industrial revolution and its impact on compa-nies. An explicative, quantitative, questionnaire survey was conducted with managers of 101 companies in Hungary and 54 in Austria. Our study focused on assessing their preparedness for Industry 4.0 and the key factors they take into account when implementing Industry 4.0 initiatives. We also examined whether there is a correlation between the areas in which companies have made improvements to support Industry 4.0. To complement our quantitative analysis, we conducted a series of four semi-structured interviews with two Hungarian and two Austrian companies. The aim of the interviews was to further investigate the digital readiness of companies and to formulate recommendations for companies venturing into the field of digitalisation. A particular focus was put on comparing the digital maturity of these two neighbouring Central European countries, given the significant differences in their digital maturity as shown by the macro indicators of the Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI). Therefore, we conducted a micro-level analysis to investigate the extent to which DESI scores correspond to the digital performance of companies at the orga-nisational level.

Forest resources are an important material basis for ecological protection and economic devel-opment, and are responsible for the dual mission of guaranteeing national ecological safety and grain safety. Forest land is an important carrier of forest resources, and forest landowner is a direct component of forest land management. Forest landowners’ willingness to engage in forest man-agement affects whether the important value function of forest resources can be implemented. Are there differences in the willingness and behavior of forest management between ethnic minority foresters and ordinary foresters? How to stimulate the forest management willingness and behavior of forest farmers in ethnic minority areas?These questions will be about the realization of the value of forest resources. Through the analysis of 185 questionnaires in Yunnan Province, this paper clarifies the current situation of forest management of forest farmers in minority areas. Then, using the Sustainable Livelihoods Framework, we select three indicators including the socio-economic at-tributes of individual farmers, the cognition and experience of forest landowners, and policy guidance. And we use the binary logistic regression model to analyze the factors affecting the willingness of forester to participate in forest management. Through the above analysis, we find that: (1) Forest landowners' willingness to engage in forest management in minority regions is relatively high, at 71.98%. (2) Individual farmers’ socioeconomic attributes have the most significant degree of influence on willingness to engage in forest management, while forest landowners' cognitive and related experiences, policy guidance and other related variables influence willingness to engage in forest management at the macro level. (3) Literacy has a significant positive contribution to man-agement intentions, while forest land area, living standard, whether they are compensated by public welfare forest, and whether they participate in the project of returning farmland to forest and grass have a significant negative effect on management intentions. (4) There are significant differences between forest landowners' willingness to engage in forest management and the influencing factors between minority regions and non-minority regions. Finally, we suggest to improve the willingness to engage in forest management and forestry industry development in minority regions through innovative management methods, concentrated and continuous large-scale management, en-couraging capital investment and driving forest landowners to "nearby employment", optimizing the logging quota system and raising the compensation standard for public welfare forests. This study has important practical significance for promoting the realization of forest ecological products value, consolidating the achievement of poverty alleviation in forest areas and realizing rural re-vitalization in China.
