AbstractThe emergence of AI-powered deepfakes, manipulatively realistic synthetic media, raises unprecedented challenges for human information processing and decision-making. This paper explores the cognitive and emotional consequences of exposure to deepfakes, delving into how these digitally fabricated experiences can reshape perception, trust, and social interactions. By reviewing existing research and outlining potential methodological approaches, this paper aims to establish a framework for investigating the multifaceted impact of deepfakes on the human brain.BackgroundThe digital age has ushered in an era of unprecedented information abundance and accessibility. Yet, this abundance breeds vulnerability, particularly with the emergence of AI-powered deepfakes. These hyper-realistic synthetic media creations present a potent threat to the fundamental trust and integrity of information sources. Deepfakes have infiltrated various domains, from entertainment and social media to politics and journalism, blurring the lines between truth and fabrication. Consequently, understanding the cognitive and emotional consequences of encountering deepfakes becomes crucial for navigating this increasingly deceptive landscape.ObjectivesThis research aims to: Investigate how exposure to deepfakes impacts various cognitive functions, including perception, attention, memory, and decision-making. Elucidate the emotional responses elicited by deepfakes and their underlying neural mechanisms. Evaluate the role of individual differences, such as susceptibility to deception and emotional sensitivity, in mediating the impact of deepfakes. Develop a comprehensive framework for understanding the multifaceted influence of deepfakes on the human brain. Results (anticipated)This research is expected to yield insights into: The specific cognitive and emotional processes altered by deepfakes, providing evidence for potential mechanisms of deception and manipulation. The neural circuitry involved in detecting and responding to deepfakes, leading to the development of more effective detection methods. The influence of individual differences (e.g., age, cognitive style) on susceptibility to deepfakes, informing targeted interventions and educational efforts.ConclusionBy deciphering the impact of deepfakes on the human brain, this research will offer valuable tools for mitigating the harmful consequences of misinformation and promoting responsible use of this powerful technology. In order to realize the tram's low-floor structure, most of the trams that have been recently introduced adopt an independently rotating wheelset. In the case of trains driving in two regions with different gauges, an independently rotating wheelset may be applied to utilize the variable track technology. Since the independent rotation type wheelset has no rotational restraint of the left and right wheels, the difference in rotational speed between the outer and inner wheels occurs naturally during curved driving, and it is applied to railroad vehicles traveling in steep curve sections because it smoothly drives curved driving. However, the longitudinal creep force and the lateral restoring force are weakened as the left and right rotational constraints disappear. Lack of transverse direction restoring force weakens stability while causing continuous flange contact driving or zigzag phenomenon against disturbance. Under the conditions of driving in a steep curve, these railway vehicles generate excessive wear, noise, and lateral pressure, as well as deterioration of ride comfort and derailment. In order to overcome these drawbacks, a method has been proposed in which the torque of a motor mounted on each wheel is individually controlled to generate lateral restoring force or to improve driving performance through lateral displacement control using a yaw moment. In this paper, development using HILs was performed to check the performance and stability of the individual motor torque control technology before verifying by applying the individual motor torque control to the actual vehicle. HILs were constructed by combining a real-time dynamic analysis model of a railway vehicle with a drive motor to which real individual motor control was applied. Under the conditions of driving the test track where the actual test vehicle was tested, the analysis of the driving characteristics and the control characteristics of the disturbance was performed to confirm the proposed individual motor torque control performance.

Rationale: Genetically modified (GM) foods have the potential to reduce food insecurity and address economic and environmental issues. Despite these benefits, GM foods continue to face significant criticism and there is limited information on public awareness and understanding of their nutritional and environmental health benefits in Nigeria. This study aims to fill this gap by investigating public knowledge and perceptions of GM foods in Victoria Island, Lagos. Methods: A convenience sampling method was used to recruit 369 respondents from Victoria Island, Lagos. Data were gathered using a structured questionnaire. The target population comprised employed adults either residing or working on Victoria Island. Statistical analyses were conducted to examine the relationship between sociodemographic factors and awareness of GM foods. Results: The study found that a majority of respondents (62.9%, n=232) were knowledgeable about GM foods and their associated issues. However, many believed that their community was not well-informed on the topic. Awareness of GM foods was significantly associated with sociodemographic factors such as marital status and education (P<0.01). Most respondents were well-informed about the environmental and health benefits of GM foods, with 61.8% believing that GM food production could sustainably reduce reliance on chemical pesticides, fertilizers, and other energy inputs, thus mitigating their ecological impacts. Additionally, most respondents did not feel that purchasing or consuming GM foods conflicted with their beliefs or would affect their food choices. Conclusion: The study concludes that while individual awareness of GM foods is relatively high, there is a perception that community awareness is low. Sociodemographic factors play a significant role in shaping public awareness and perceptions of GM foods. Recommendations: This includes government should actively educate the public on the ecological and health benefits of GM foods and address any safety concerns; Implement strict border controls and food labeling for GM products to protect consumer rights and preferences for organic foods, provide sufficient technical and financial assistance to farmers who participate in organic seed programs to enhance national food security. Significant Statement: This study highlights the importance of public education on GM foods and underscores the need for government intervention to ensure informed consumer choices and support for sustainable agricultural practices.
