This article aims to discuss the activities developed through the Pedagogical Residency Program for literacy of the Pedagogy course at UFF (Universidade Federal Fluminense) at INFES (Northwest Fluminense Institute of Higher Education) located in Santo Antônio de Pádua/Rio de Janeiro/Brazil, which due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, it started to be carried out remotely, in a virtual context, using digital technologies. We will describe the context and activities that were carried out within this new reality.

The paradigm shift has revealed a need among industrial designers to have entrepreneurial capabilities. Being the most effective modality to exercise discipline today. The implementation of this approach requires reviewing the discursive scaffolding that the design has been using to set immovable high standards of complexity and quality, reducing the field of professional action and limiting the intervention alternatives. This article considers the dynamics and trends in people's lifestyles, explores possible strategies and specific content for the entrepreneurial training required by design.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is a global strategy that aims to obtain a more equitable and just world. These objectives are organized in 17 SDGs, which are detailed in 169 targets. Different international institutions have emphasized education's relevance to developing citizens who contribute to the SDGs' achievement for 2030. However, a review focused on Physical Education exclusively has not been performed yet. Therefore, the objective of this work is double. First, to analyze and select the specific goals of the SDGs that can be implemented in the subject of Physical Education. And second, to relate these specific goals to the different models based on Physical Education practices. This review showed how three institutional documents have previously related sport, physical exercise and physical education to the specific goals of the SDGs. Based on the search done, this document selects those goals that could be integrated into the educational context through Physical Education. The bibliographic and narrative analysis carried out in this research shows that of the 169 specific goals proposed in the SDGs, only 24 could be worked on in Physical Education. In addition, after this previous analysis, a proposal for the relationship between the practice-based models and these 24 goals is presented. The contributions made in this paper will allow teachers to establish links between PE sessions and SDGs while raising awareness to develop students who contribute to a more sustainable world.

The aim was to implement a value-promoting program (Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility, TPSR) and to assess its impact on students. Method: The program was applied for 8 months with 257 students from three secondary school centres (151 boys and 106 girls) with a mean of 15.97 years old (SD = 2.31). They were in three groups, 67 students (control group), 90 students receiving at least 60% of the total teaching time the value-promoting program (experimental group for global education, EG-GE) and 100 students (experimental group only for physical education, EG-PE). As main results improvements were found in the EG-GE for responsibility, psychological mediator index, self-determination index, resilience, climate and prosocial behaviours. In the EG-PE improved were observed in the self-determination index, classroom climate and prosocial behaviours. Female students and from EG-GE improve much more than males and from EG-PE. The outcomes in psychological variables can be higher if TPSR is applied to the whole subjects apart from physical education. These results are even more pronounced for female students in personal and social responsibility. It is worth highlighting the importance of coordinating educational institutions to facilitate the involvement of the greatest number of teachers.

This paper explores Augmented Reality (AR) as an innovative active methodology for student assessment in the Higher Education Authority of Arcoverde, proposing an alternative to the traditional assessment model. It investigates how AR can transform the educational process, making assessments more interactive, engaging and effective. The study focuses on three main issues: the impact of AR on student motivation and engagement, its effectiveness in improving content comprehension and retention, and the challenges and limitations of its implementation as an assessment method. Employing dialectical methods, action research and literature reviews, this research documents a 34% increase in students’ content comprehension and a 47% increase in their participation in practical activities. These findings suggest that, despite the technical and curricular integration challenges, AR not only improves assessment methodologies, but also enhances learning, promoting a more dynamic and interactive environment. The overall objective is to demonstrate the ability of AR to replace conventional approaches with a more innovative and efficient practice, highlighting the importance of this technology in advancing pedagogical practices and improving student performance. This study sheds light on the relevance of AR in the educational field, encouraging its adoption to enrich the learning and assessment experience.

Pedagogical translanguaging (PTL) refers to the use of educational techniques which incorporate learners’ entire linguistic repertoire. Recent studies indicate that PTL is efficient in the teaching of morphological awareness to bilingual children. The question remains whether it can successfully be applied in the highly specific context of adult forced migrants' classrooms. This study describes a new protocol developed within the framework of PTL to teach derivational morphology to L2 French and Greek adults. We used questionnaires to assess quantitatively and qualitatively the feasibility of the protocol, teachers' and learners' attitudes, and learners' emotions in the PTL lesson. A total of 141 migrant learners (79 forced migrants) and 13 teachers were involved in 23 2-hour lessons. Teachers and learners gave overall high evaluations of the feasibility of the PTL protocol and of their pleasure to teach and learn using PTL tools. Learners’ ease to learn and learning benefits were positively influenced by their perception of the proximity between their L1 and L2. Learners reported higher positive emotions and lower negative emotions during the PTL lesson, while forced migrants showed globally higher hope and shame than voluntary migrants, as well as higher benefits from PTL on enjoyment. These findings suggest that the use of pedagogical translanguaging in migrants’ classrooms is feasible and develops positive attitudes and emotions, which are more pronounced in forced migrants.

Sustainable development has become the aspiration of many developing countries, including Ecuador. The introduction of Bachelor of Tourism studies at the Technical University of Manabí aligns with this interest, implying a challenge for teachers regarding the application of integrative and innovative teaching methods that promote the training of professionals with high scientific rigor, both in technical and professional senses. To achieve this, the pedagogical group started from three fundamental principles based on the application of teaching work methods and pro-cedures, as well as the determination of interactions between the various factors that directly and indirectly influence the training process of professionals in the tourism sector. The results of comprehensive evaluation processes considering both the academic performance of the teachers and the level of satisfaction of students taking the course support the application of these teaching–learning methods, as well as highlighting the convenience of extending the experiences and re-search results of the pedagogical team to other vocational training centers for tourism activities.

Background/Objectives: While studies suggest that young children can learn and think about sustainability, most research has focused on children aged three to five, leaving a significant gap in understanding how to engage toddlers (under three) in early childhood education for sustainability (ECEfS). This study aims to address this gap, a crucial and often overlooked area, by investigating early childhood teachers' perceptions of ECEfS and their pedagogical practices for nurturing sustainability in a toddler group in a Swedish preschool. Methods: The study employed a case study approach, incorporating observations, interviews, and document analysis for data collection. Qualitative techniques were used for data analysis. The research was conducted with a strong commitment to ethical considerations, including obtaining participants' consent, ensuring confidentiality and privacy, informing them of their right to withdraw, and maintaining anonymity. Results: The findings of this study bring hope. They indicate that teachers understand education for sustainability and can implement sustainability-related pedagogical practices in a toddler group. They can create suitable learning environments and establish connections between sustainability issues and daily life activities in the classroom, enhancing the children's overall learning experience. Conclusions: The study's findings underscore the pivotal role of educators in shaping the mindsets and behaviors of future generations, thereby supporting the long-term goals of sustainable development. By nurturing toddlers' innate curiosity and harnessing their brain's plasticity, educators can effectively engage toddlers in ECEfS and promote sustainable development from an early age. The study's implications highlight the need to prioritize ECEfS during toddlerhood to realize the full potential of this critical investment in the future of our planet.

Effective communication in English is crucial for marketing professionals in the highly competitive global business landscape. This article emphasizes the importance of English language proficiency and the need for a tailored needs analysis for marketing professionals in the field of Business English. The comprehensive exploration of the needs analysis process outlines its methods and steps, highlighting its relevance in designing targeted language programs. By utilizing surveys, interviews, and observations, trainers and language instructors gain valuable insights into the specific challenges faced by marketing professionals, enabling them to develop customized skill-building approaches. The article also underscores the pedagogical implications of the needs analysis, stressing the significance of a personalized training program that addresses identified language gaps. Recognizing the collaborative nature of the process, the article concludes by discussing the implementation of the training program and the importance of tracking progress, ultimately displaying the tangible benefits of conducting a needs analysis in Business English for marketing professionals in terms of enhancing competitiveness and driving business growth.

Nowadays, it can be observed that all kinds of technology are gradually being incorporated to assist the human being in the performance of their frequent and daily tasks. Technological tools provide means to facilitate, improve, help and support any activity which, in itself, may be complicated, either because of the difficulty involved in carrying it out, or because the person carrying it out has limited capabilities due to the environment not being prepared for their abilities and skills. In this sense, Special Education is currently receiving special attention from researchers, especially those aimed at children. Although the proposals that have appeared recently provide perfect solutions to improve educational processes with ingenious didactic applications, there is still an interesting line of study on how to interact with these younger people in these educational processes. In this sense, haptic technologies can play a very important role, complementing all these solutions by incorporating tools that facilitate direct contact with people, especially in their initial stages, which are the most complicated. This paper aims to provide an overview of haptic technologies and how they present solutions that can be integrated into the aforementioned educational processes.

The number of entrepreneurship education programs (EEP) has increased exponentially over the past two decades. However, a systematic review has not yet been carried out to confirm the effectiveness of EEPs and their presence in the current global world. The main objective of this study was to provide a systematic synthesis of EEP, exploring their characteristics and effectiveness. The search was carried out in the following databases: Scopus, Web of Science, ProQuest and ERIC. Twenty-nine articles were included, with programs developed mainly in European (n=15), Asian (n=6) and American (n=5) countries. The programs were mainly aimed at higher education students (n=17), addressing the development of business plans and entrepreneurial skills. However, greater attention is paid to the entrepreneurial skills in both basic and secondary education. The development of the programs under analysis varied between one week and two years. The results of the studies showed the effectiveness of most of these programs in promoting entrepreneurial skills at all levels of education. In turn, there was not a verified increase in the intention to start a business, since this intention is determined by predisposition, namely socio-cultural and family aspects. This systematic review of the EEP points to the need for this type of program to be preferentially developed since the early school years, since it is at that time that predispositions are created for the development of entrepreneurial skills and intentions. This condition is corroborated by the global geography of the EEP, which demonstrates that, where there is currently an entrepreneurial culture, countries have made a long educational journey, with strategic options from the perspective of educational policies defending entrepreneurship among the younger generations.

Global teacher shortage is a serious concern with grave implications for the future of education. This calls for novel ways of addressing teacher roles. The economic benefits of tireless labour inspires the need for teachers who are unlimited by natural human demands, highlighting consideration for the affordances of robotics and Artificial Intelligence in Education (AIED) as currently obtainable in other areas of human life. This however demands designing robotic personalities that can take on independent teacher roles despite strong opinions that robots will not be able to fully replace humans in the classroom of the future. In this paper, we argue for a future classroom with independent robot teachers, highlighting the minimum capabilities required of such personalities in terms of personality, instructional delivery, social interaction and affect. We describe our project on the design of a robot teacher based on these. Possible directions for future system development and studies are highlighted.

In this inclusive review article, the focus is on navigating the dynamic landscape of literature education, particularly the profound pedagogical shifts observed in the aftermath of the pandemic. The article synthesizes global insights, delving into how educators have adapted to hybrid models and embraced digital tools, fundamentally transforming the reading, analysis, and engagement with literary works. Exploring the integration of digital tools in literature education, the review uncovers the transformative impact of technology on traditional pedagogies. It analyzes the challenges and opportunities inherent in adapting literature education to the digital era, emphasizing the need for inclusive practices and adaptability. The article concludes by suggesting future research directions, encompassing AI integration, inclusive practices, cultural variations, long-term effects of hybrid models, and effective pedagogical strategies for technology integration. With a comprehensive approach, this review not only summarizes the current state of literature education but also discusses its implications, offering a holistic understanding of the contemporary educational landscape and setting the stage for future research endeavors.

Education on native tree species using indigenous knowledge systems is crucial in elementary school environmental education because it sensitizes learners on the significant roles played by the native trees and their interconnections with their culture and existence. Unfortunately in Ghana, there is no pedagogical model that would aid elementary school teachers in carrying out such education.This study was aimed at developing, implementing and evaluating an indigenous knowledge inspired pedagogical model for native tree education among elementary school learners in Ghana. The convergent parallel mixed methods design that aimed at collecting quantitative and qualitative datasets on the development and evaluation of the developed pedagogical model. The results show that the pedagogical model was deemed very satisfactory in all its aspects for native tree education among elementary school learners in Ghana. The model was able to assist in developing the sustainability consciousness and competence of elementary school learners toward caring for native trees through tree planting, making of nurseries and gardens, and engaging in native tree conservation campaigns. The study recommends that the Ministry of Education should adopt, improve and widely disseminate the pedagogical model and help in its broader implementation in various elementary schools across the country.

The purpose of this work is to describe and explain the characteristics of pedagogy as a science of education, as an object, concepts and research method. The methodology assumed was the review of the history of pedagogy, especially the classics of pedagogy, those who built it with their experiences in laboratory schools. Here are listed the main concepts of pedagogy, its laws and principles; she establishes the opposition that exists between teaching-learning and education as formation of the personality; she also delimits the fields of the pedagogical method, of didactics or teaching-learning, and the methodology of educational labor that organizes the process and the educational context, the regime and the lifestyle, such as those experienced in the "colonies" or "communes" of children and adolescents, organized and directed by Neill and Makarenko. Since the present article does not derive from a primary source or from field work, as an empirical or experimental research, the results constitute the content of the article, as conclusions.

In this empirical article, we argue that, while emergency remote teaching (ERT) may have achieved its goal of saving the academic years during the COVID-19 pandemic, it also constructed unintended pedagogical consequences that were possibly overlooked at the time of advocating it. The research question that the article attempted to answer is, what unintended pedagogical consequences did students and lecturers suffer because of the move to ERT at rural-based universities (RBUs) in South Africa? Drawing on students' and lecturers’ lived experiences of ERT, this article foregrounds unintended pedagogical consequences that arose at one RBU in South Africa during the transition from face-to-face teaching to ERT. Underpinned by the tenets of critical realism philosophy, as well as student integration theory, in-depth interviews with three lecturers and six students were conducted. The findings of the study indicate that home conditions, individual characteristics, pre-COVID-19 blended learning experiences, university training and support, and teaching, learning, and assessment practices and policies altogether contributed to the construction of unintended pedagogical consequences of ERT presented in this article. These consequences include (1) exclusion of low-income students in active teaching and learning, (2) equipping middle-class students with better chances of success than working-class students. (3) distressing female students and lecturers more than their male counterparts, and (4) unproductive assessment practices. This study may be beneficial to academics and policymakers from similar contexts in their plight to continue with remote teaching and assessment (RTA) beyond the pandemic.

The research identified challenges faced by teachers, suggested effective pedagogical strategies, and proposed practical recommendations to mitigate the negative impacts of ChatGPT in higher education. These strategies promote the ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence, ensuring academic integrity. The article deeply analyzes pedagogical strategies to prevent plagiarism and promote academic integrity, offering a practical guide for educators on how to ethically integrate AI into their pedagogical practices. By filling a gap in the literature, the study contributes to the discussion on the ethical use of AI in education, offering evidence-based recommendations and fostering critical reflection on the impact of emerging technologies in the academic environment. The research highlights effective pedagogical strategies to mitigate the negative effects of ChatGPT, promoting an educational approach that prevents plagiarism and encourages the ethical use of AI. Through documentary analysis of scientific articles and data coding according to Bardin's methodology, patterns and trends were identified for the development of innovative pedagogical practices. The qualitative approach included a literature review and content analysis of articles published in the last five years. The results indicated that, although ChatGPT can personalize teaching and support content development, it also increases the risk of plagiarism and reduces students’ critical engagement. To combat these challenges, it is suggested to create personalized assessments, promote critical thinking, and use plagiarism detection tools. Continuous teacher training and the development of clear policies on the ethical use of AI are essential to ensure academic integrity and quality of learning.

Background: Learning arrangements in health care profession education are increasingly taking place in digital environments. VR in nursing education, as one of the digital elements, is the subject of controversial debate. On the one hand it supports the authenticity of case studies by adding realistic perspectives and information. On the other hand, the costs of developing and maintaining software and hardware hinder long-term implementation. Methods: In this paper, we describe our findings and insights from two different research projects focused on the incorporation of digital tools, particularly virtual reality (VR), into nursing education. Based on the German context, our aim is to promote the adoption of innovative digital methods in nursing education and to offer invaluable experiences from the field. Results: Starting with a brief recapitulation of the projects, we then elucidate the pedagogical strategies for embedding VR-driven scenarios in nursing education. Based on our experiences during the projects we identify various positive aspects, such as change of perspective and simulating acute situations. Key findings: Although potential drawbacks remain, we advocate long-term implementation and specific use of VR at the interface between theory and practice. Nevertheless it is crucial to establish regular evaluation observing the value of digitalisation, especially VR; for nursing education.

Functional health literacy is the ability to read, write, and speak about health. Functional health literacy events can nudge the development of children’s health identity when using valid and reliable reading materials that portray the “what, where, when, why, and with whom” to eat nutritious foods and be physically active. Children who lack social role models for healthy eating and physical activity may also lack development in language and motor skills. Therefore, literacy-rich environments are needed when developing cognitive-motor language skills with children. Children with obesogenic body frames can gain from the production of childcentric health narratives that draw upon the Habits of Mind and Habits of Health© Model to produce Electronic Texts for Health Literacy©. When health professionals plan and implement functional health literacy events so children can read, write, and speak about their own health, new behavioral patterns and routines emerge into performances of understanding. Constructivist pedagogical approaches can help children to create health narratives using multimodal language while practicing health literacy skills as a foundational impetus to health behaviors. Children who struggle with obesity can also gain social agency when writing with peer partners who serve as supportive collaborators when developing interactive health literacy.
