The Collatz conjecture (or 3n+1 problem) has been explored for about 86 years. In this article, we prove the Collatz conjecture. We will show that this conjecture holds for all positive integers by applying the Collatz inverse operation to the numbers that satisfy the rules of the Collatz conjecture. Finally, we will prove that there are no positive integers that do not satisfy this conjecture.

This paper presents an analysis of the number of zeros in the binary representation of natural numbers. The primary method of analysis involves the use of the concept of the fractional part of a number, which naturally emerges in the determination of binary representation. This idea is grounded in the fundamental property of the Riemann zeta function, constructed using the fractional part of a number. Understanding that the ratio between the fractional and integer parts of a number, analogous to the Riemann zeta function, reflects the profound laws of numbers becomes the key insight of this work. The findings suggest a new perspective on the interrelation between elementary properties of numbers and more complex mathematical concepts, potentially opening new directions in number theory and analysis.

This paper addresses the Collatz Conjecture, an open question in mathematics that postulates all positive integers will eventually reach one when a pair of specific operations are repeatedly applied. Despite its apparent simplicity, the conjecture lacks a formal proof. To tackle this enigma, we introduce Algebraic Inverse Trees (AITs), data structures that trace inverse operations of the Collatz sequence. This new approach not only elaborates our unique methodology but also sheds light on the underlying complexities of the Collatz Conjecture.

We can analyze the properties of the Collatz Conjecture by using Terras’ Theorem, and computational graphical calculations. To do this, we introduce the concept of “tree" which shows the relationship between the input and output positive integers of the Collatz process. This approach offers a novel way for determining the non-existence of loops and diverge trees through computer simulations.

In this paper, we demonstrate the Collatz conjecture using the mathematical complete induction method. We show that this conjecture is satisfied for the first values of natural numbers, and in analyzing the sequence generated by odd numbers, we can deduce a formula for the general term of the Collatz sequence for any odd natural number n after several iterations. This formula is used in one case that we analyze using the mathematical complete induction method in the process of demonstrating the conjecture.

The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the Collatz conjecture, offering insights into the inherent complexities of its trajectories. This work not only validates the conjecture through binary representation but also provides a probabilistic framework to elucidate the global flow of the sequence, enriching our comprehension of this enduring mathematical mystery.

A proof is given showing the Collatz Conjecture is true for all positive integers. The proof was possible once the perspective of the proof was changed from looking at the pattern of the positive integers to looking at the conjecture rules. The conjecture rule for even numbers organizes all positive integers into unique sets and the rule for odd numbers interconnects the unique sets into dendritic pathways to “1.” Infinite loops, other than the minor 4-2-1 loop after reaching “1,” and pathways to infinity are shown to be mathematically impossible. The proof predicted a general equation that shows all positive integers ultimately reach a final value of “1," and calculates the values and locations of the odd positive integers during the iterations for each tested positive integer.

The Collatz conjecture is a well-known number theory puzzle that states that every positive integer would eventually converge to the trivial cycle of 1, 2, 1, 2,... when repeatedly exposed to a particular transformation. In this transformation, even numbers are divided in half, odd numbers are tripled, and one is added. In this study, we present a new method for creating a directed graph and using it to display and analyze Collatz sequences. Our technique creates what we call a Collatz directed graph by joining an endless number of simple directed graphs, each of which corresponds to a natural number. We show by careful mathematical analysis that all positive integers are included in this Collatz directed graph. Moreover, we give an evidence that verifies the Collatz conjecture by showing that the sole cycle in this graph is the trivial cycle of 1, 2, 1, 2,... We also prove that there is no sequence that diverges to infinity in this graph. Our results provide insights into the fundamental structure of Collatz sequences and further our knowledge of the Collatz conjecture .

Collatz conjecture (3x+1 problem) is a natural phenomenon in set theory that may be reconstructed using known combinatorics and order theory. Construction begins by selecting a specific order isomorphism with a bijectional order-embedding. Mapping by 3x+1 induces a unique property to only members of the mapped embedding. Under selective congruence from recursive division by two, that complex controls sequence behavior. This demonstration uses an order isomorphism consisting of two linear orders: the (1) odd positive integers and the always odd (2) Rule 50 Jacobsthal numbers, as the embedding. The argument proceeds by cardinality. When the order isomorphism is mapped under 3x+1, all Rule 50 Jacobsthal numbers are mapped to all the powers of four. This one-to-one correspondence guarantees that every odd integer is assigned to a Rule 50 Jacobsthal number, and subsequently, to a power of four. To align this construction with the conjecture, expand the set to all positive integers by showing that: (1) the powers of four embed the powers of two, in a natural way, and (2) the unique factorization of any positive even integer, not congruent to a power of two, is simply an odd integer, once the factorized power of two is divided out. In other words, if the initial choice for a positive integer is not congruent to a power of two, then recursion continues until a Rule 50 Jacobsthal number (guaranteed by cardinality) is attained. Since this value mapped by 3x+1 is always a power of four, repeated division by two will always send the sequence to one. Because this same process occurs for any choice of positive integer, Collatz conjecture is true.

Let the sequence of all the odd integers obtained form an orbit $n, f^1(n) , f^2(n), \ldots, f^k(n), f^{k + 1}(n)$. The $k^{th}$ odd integer is written as $f^k(n) = (3^k + \mathbf{B(k)})/2^{\mathbf{z(k)}}$ where $\mathbf{B(k)}$ is the collection of terms without the coefficient $n$. We show that when $1 - \mathbf{B(k)}/(2^{\mathbf{z(k)}} n) \approx 1$, the condition for unbounded orbit is given by OEIS A022921. Further, if there exists at least one orbit for which $f^{k + 1}(n) = n$ when $(k + 1) < 3$, we show that there exists no orbit with $k + 1 > 3$ for which $f^{k + 1}(n) = n$. The final result is that the odd integers that can violate the Collatz conjecture are smaller than 5.

We define the function $Col: \mathbb{N} \to \mathbb{N}$ as the Collatz function, given by $3n + 1$ if $n$ is odd and $\displaystyle\frac{n}{2}$ if $n$ is even \cite{Lagarias1990}. The conjecture postulates that for any positive integer, at some point, its iteration will reach 1, or equivalently, every orbit will fall into the periodic cycle $\{4, 2, 1\}$. Two conditions would invalidate the conjecture: the existence of a divergent orbit or the presence of another cycle. In 2019 Terence Tao \cite{tao} proved that almost all orbits converge to the trivial cycle of $\{1,4,2\}$, in this work we will prove the non-existence of divergent orbits. The central idea is to decompose the dynamic system $Col$ into a binary dynamic system, generated by different compositions of two functions. This differs from a typical dynamic system, which is generated by the iteration of a single function. We consider the system generated by the functions $\theta, \psi: \mathbb{R} \to \mathbb{R}$, defined as $\displaystyle\theta(x) = \frac{x}{2}$ and $\displaystyle\psi(x) = \frac{3x + 1}{2}$, denoted as $\langle \theta, \psi \rangle$. We examine sequences of functions in $\langle \theta, \psi \rangle$ of the form $S_k(x) = s_k \circ S_{k-1}(x)$ with $s_k \in \{\theta, \psi\}$. We define a function that assigns to each element of these sequences an integer, called the minimum value positive integer or simply the minimum value. This corresponds to the smallest positive integer $n$ such that $S_k(n)$ is an integer. As we will prove later, the minimum value is monotonically increasing, meaning that increasing the terms of the sequence will never result in a value lower than the previous one. Based on this behavior, we distinguish two types of sequences: stable ones, where the minimum value is constant from a certain point, and unstable ones, where the minimum value is divergent. The main result for unstable sequences is that when the slope of the sequence is divergent, the sequence is unstable. From this result, we can prove that there are no divergent orbits for the function $Col$.

This article presents a novel resolution of the Collatz Conjecture, centered on the concept of Generative Completeness of the inverse Collatz function. We introduce and rigorously prove that for all N ∈ ℕ⁺, there exists a minimal generator m_N = 1 such that all positive integers up to N can be generated through successive applications of the inverse Collatz function G. This key property, which we term "Generative Completeness", forms the cornerstone of our proof. Building upon this foundation, we establish several crucial results: The boundedness of all Collatz sequences The existence and uniqueness of cycles in Collatz sequences The nature of the unique cycle as {1, 4, 2} We then present three distinct approaches to resolving the Collatz Conjecture, all fundamentally rooted in the Generative Completeness property. These diverse methods not only prove the conjecture but also provide deep insights into the structure of Collatz sequences.

In solving the Collatz conjecture, it turns out that if we let all integers k be 6n, 6n+1, 6n+2, 6n+3, 6n+4, 6n+5, then we can solve the Collatz conjecture periodically. The Collatz conjecture states that for any positive integer P (initial value), if n is even, divide n by 2; if n is odd, repeat the rule of multiplying n by 3 and adding 1, which always converges to 1. One open problem has been proved by this paper. The authors hope to contribute to the mathematical community by presenting simple proofs of conjectures in the history of mathematics such as the Collatz conjecture.

The two main strategies used in this study are the binary representation and the decomposition of a natural number into many compound functions of odd function and even function. The Collatz conjecture regarding odd even numbers in number theory can be examined and discussed using them in this way: The sequence created by the finite iterations of the Collatz function becomes the ultimately periodic sequence if any natural number is the beginning value, proving the conjecture that has been held for 85 years.

In this article we have constructed a basic methodology from which important perspectives for both the Collatz conjecture and Beal's conjecture can be derived. We falsified the conjecture we previously developed on Beal's conjecture and made the falsified conjecture usable for Collatz conjecture. In this regard, we have clearly expressed the numbers that can reach 1 in the Collatz conjecture. Then, using this, we created a limit for the numbers that should be considered for the Collatz conjecture. Thanks to the analysis of this limit, we have clearly expressed the recursive Collatz function in an equation. Using this structure, we wrote a function that indicates how many times the Collatz function repeats certain numbers to reach 1.

We use binary string to represent a natural number and show the composite procedure of odd-number and even-number functions, thus we propose full binary directed tree to represent the set of natural numbers and give another partition the natural number set to three sets: pure odd, pure even and mixed number. For the Collatz conjecture we make use of the parity of a natural number to analyse the sequence of iteration (or composite) of Collatz function and reduced Collatz function analog to the inverse function. We give tabular and binary strings to the algebra expression to state the sequence of Collatz, this is the key topic to proof the conjecture: the discrete powers of 2 can be changed to ultimately continuous powers of 2, finally get to pure even number and to the smallest number 1. The sequence created by the infinite iterations of the Collatz function becomes the ultimately periodic sequence if any natural number is the beginning value, proving the conjecture that has been held for 87 years.

We introduce a full binary directed tree structure to represent the set of natural numbers, further categorizing them into three distinct subsets: pure odd numbers, pure even numbers, and mixed numbers. We adopt a binary string representation for natural numbers and elaborate on the composite methodology encompassing odd- and even-number functions. Our analysis focuses on examining the iteration sequence (or composition) of the Collatz function and its reduced variant, which serves as an analog to the inverse function, to scrutinize the validity of the Collatz conjecture. To substantiate this conjecture, we incorporate binary strings into an algebraic formula that captures the essence of the Collatz sequence. By this means, we transform discrete powers of 2 into continuous counterparts, ultimately culminating in the smallest natural number, 1. Consequently, the sequence generated through infinite iterations of the Collatz function emerges as an eventually periodic sequence, thereby validating an enduring 87-year-old conjecture.

In this paper, I introduce a new concept of representing numbers in base ; in other words, I have found new series for any number similar to series that could be written according to the collatz sequence which is called zi(n) in this article. These series need to end with 1. Then, we use two sets of rules to make a diagram which then proves the existence of such series for any number.In this diagram, by branching numbers into different branches in accordance to the modularity of 4 and continuing branching to the point that their numbers have enough common terms in their collatz series, we could reduce zi(n) to zi(k) so that k<n in any branch by Rule Number One. This diagram shows that zi(n) exists for every number, in other words, this proves the theorem (A) or zi-existence theorem. The proof of zi-existence theorem leads to a proof of the collatz conjecture because the collatz series could be written as a linear combination of such series that all of them end with 1, so the collatz series for any number ends with 1.

In this article, we present solutions for one of the oldest mathematical problems, the Collatz Conjecture, and provide a proof for the Riemann Hypothesis, utilizing a new number theory based on newly discovered number properties, which will also be presented in this paper. This is made possible through the Sophy-Peter mathematical framework, built upon this new number theory. The Collatz Conjecture will be disproven, but as an alternative, the Oscillating Theorem will be introduced, with its correctness proven within this article. Furthermore, we present the general version of the Riemann zeta function, developed based on the new number theory. The correctness of this function is verified by comparing it with existing results of the zeta function. Using this approach and the Sophy-Peter framework, we have successfully proven the Riemann Hypothesis, long considered a millennium problem. Moreover, since the general zeta function is proven, this implies the correctness of the new number theory and the Sophy-Peter framework.

Let an odd integer \(\mathcal{X}\) be expressed as $\left\{\sum\limits_{M > m} b_M 2^M\right\} + 2^m - 1,$ where $b_M \in \{0, 1\}$ and $2^m - 1$ is referred to as the Governor. In Collatz-type functions, a high index Governor is eventually reduced to $2^1 - 1$. For the $3\mathcal{Z} + 1$ sequence, the Governor occurring in the Trivial cycle is $2^1 - 1$, while for the $5\mathcal{Z} + 1$ sequence, the Trivial Governors are $2^2 - 1$ and $2^1 - 1$. Therefore, in these specific sequences, the Collatz function reduces the Governor $2^m - 1$ to the Trivial Governor $2^{\mathcal{T}} - 1$. Once this Trivial Governor is reached, it can evolve to a higher index Governor through interactions with other terms. This feature allows $\mathcal{X}$ to reappear in a Collatz-type sequence, since $2^m - 1 = 2^{m - 1} + \cdots + 2^{\mathcal{T} + 1} + 2^{\mathcal{T}} + (2^{\mathcal{T}} - 1).$ Thus, if $\mathcal{X}$ reappears, at least one odd ancestor of $\left\{\sum\limits_{M > m} b_M 2^M\right\} + 2^{m - 1} + \cdots + 2^{\mathcal{T} + 1} + 2^{\mathcal{T}} + (2^{\mathcal{T}} - 1)$ must have the Governor $2^m - 1$. Ancestor mapping shows that all odd ancestors of $\mathcal{X}$ have the Trivial Governor for the respective Collatz sequence. This implies that odd integers that repeat in the $3\mathcal{Z} + 1$ sequence have the Governor $2^1 - 1$, while those forming a repeating cycle in the $5\mathcal{Z} + 1$ sequence have either $2^2 - 1$ or $2^1 - 1$ as the Governor. Successor mapping for the $3\mathcal{Z} + 1$ sequence further indicates that there are no auxiliary cycles, as the Trivial Governor is always transformed into a different index Governor. Similarly, successor mapping for the $5\mathcal{Z} + 1$ sequence reveals that the smallest odd integers forming an auxiliary cycle are smaller than $2^5$. Finally, attempts to identify integers that diverge for the $3\mathcal{Z} + 1$ sequence suggest that no such integers exist.

Let an odd integer be represented as $\sum \limits_{n > m} 2^n + 2^m - 1$ for $m \geq 1$. To transform $2^m - 1$ according to the Collatz rules, the $3x + 1$ step is applied, resulting in the even integer $2^{m + 1} + 2^m - 2$. This even integer, being exactly once divisible by 2, becomes the next odd integer $2^m + 2^{m - 1} - 1$. This represents the growth phase, as exactly one even step follows an odd step. However, while the overall value of the integer increases, terms with decreasing indices are generated after each odd-even cycle. After $m$ such cycles, a term $2^{m - m}$ (which equals 1) is generated, canceling the negative 1. Additional even steps are then performed until the integer becomes odd again, which occurs when the next smallest index becomes zero. The positive 1 thus obtained is written as $2^1 - 1$. If uninterrupted, the term $2^1 - 1$ has the trivial cycle $2^1 - 1 \rightarrow 2^2 \rightarrow 2^1 \rightarrow 2^1 - 1$. This represents the shrinkage phase, as two even steps follow an odd step. To interrupt the trivial cycle, a sequence such as $2^1 + 2^2 + \cdots$ must be available to combine with $2^1 - 1$ and produce $2^{\mathcal{M}} - 1$. This starts another growth phase that lasts for $\mathcal{M}$ odd-even cycles. Finally, there is an attempt to craft an integer that can escape the shrinkage phase in the Collatz dynamics.

It has been discovered that representing odd integers as modified binary expressions of the form $\sum \limits_{n > m}2^n + 2^m - 1$ for $m \geq 1$ helps in understanding the dynamics of Collatz-type sequences. Starting with the original Collatz sequence $3x + 1$, it is found that when the odd step is applied to an odd integer $\sum \limits_{n > m}2^n + 2^m - 1$, an even integer $3\left(\sum \limits_{n > m}2^{n}\right) + 2^{m + 1} + 2^m - 2$ is obtained, which is exactly once divisible by 2, unless the lowest index reduces to zero. This implies that the sequence alternates between odd and even steps $m$ times. This governs the dynamics of the Collatz-type sequences because the value of $m$ determines the number of times the integer can be divided by 2 in each even step. A shortcut method is developed based on this dynamics that states that the even integer after $m$ odd-even steps are completed is $\left(\left(\frac{3}{2}\right)^m \sum \limits_{n > m}2^n\right) + 3^m - 1$. A shortcut method of this magnitude has never been utilized anywhere. The shortcut method for the modified Collatz sequence $5x + 1$ is also presented.

In this paper, we convert an integer number from decimal to binary number, and convert the Collatz function to binary function, which is multiplication and division of two binary numbers. Finally the iternation of the Collatz function, eventually reach the integer 1, thus we solve the 3x+1 problem completely.

This short technical note proves some observed novel corollaries of the Collatz Conjecture. For this, a unique ‘Collatz Representation’ of Hailstone numbers has been employed. After that, an extension of this corollary is explained using the fact that only certain differences in the last digit of the ‘Collatz Representation’ gives a whole number difference between numbers. A more general result is obtained. The final proof is for a corollary that some numbers the same number of steps to reach 1 if the Collatz Conjecture is true and all variables are whole numbers.

With this new understanding, we have provided a solid proof confirming the validity of the 3n+1 problem for all positive integers. Our method goes beyond the need for extensive computational confirmation, providing a simple and elegant resolution to a long-standing mathematical mystery.

Collatz conjecture states that an integer $n$ reduces to $1$ when certain simple operations are applied to it. Mathematically, the Collatz function is written as $f^k(n) = \frac{3^kn + C}{2^{z}}$, where $z, k, C \geq 1$. Suppose the integer $n$ violates Collatz conjecture by reappearing as $2^in$, where $i \geq 1$, then the equation modifies to $n \left(1 - \frac{3^k}{2^{z}2^i}\right) = \frac{C}{2^{z}2^i}$. The article takes an elementary approach to this problem by calculating the bounds on the values of $\frac{C}{2^{z}2^i}$ and $1 - \frac{3^k}{2^{z}2^i}$. Correspondingly, an upper limit on the integer $n$ is placed that can re-appear in the sequence. The integer $n$ lies in the $(-\infty, 5)$ range, and the limit on the number of odd steps is $k < 3$. Finally, it is shown that no integer chain exists that does not lead to 1.

The 3x+1 problem is a problem of continuous iteration for integers. According to the basic theorem of arithmetic and the way of iteration, we derive a general formula for continuous iteration for odd integers. Through this formula, we can construct a loop iteration equation and obtain the result of the equation: the equation has only one positive integer solution. In addition, this general formula can be converted into a linear indeterminate equation. The process of solving this equation shows that the relationship between the iteration result and the odd number being iterated is linear. Extending this result to all positive even numbers, we get the answer to the 3x + 1 question.

This study focuses on one of the most famous open problems in mathematics, namely the Collatz conjecture. The conjecture is that this process will eventually reach the number 1, regardless of which positive integer is chosen initially. In this paper, we present a simple proof for the Collatz conjecture.

We propose Reduced Collatz Conjecture that is equivalent to Collatz Conjecture, which states that every positive integer can return to an integer less than it, instead of 1. Reduced Collatz Conjecture should be easier because some properties are presented in reduced dynamics, rather than in original dynamics (e.g., ratio and period). Reduced dynamics is a computation sequence from starting integer to the first integer less than it, and original dynamics is a computation sequence from starting integer to 1. Reduced dynamics is a component of original dynamics. We denote dynamics of x as a sequence of either computations in terms of ``I'' that represents (3*x+1)/2 and ``O'' that represents x/2. Here 3*x+1 and x/2 are combined together, because 3*x+1 is always even and followed by x/2. We formally prove that all positive integers are partitioned into two halves and either presents ``I'' or ``O'' in next ongoing computation. More specifically, (1) if any positive integer x that is i module $2^t$ (i is an odd integer) is given, then the first t computations (each one is either ``I'' or ``O'' corresponding to whether current integer is odd or even) will be identical with that of i. (2) If current integer after t computations (in terms of ``I'' or ``O'') is less than x, then reduced dynamics of x is available. Otherwise, the residue class of x (namely, i module $2^t$) can be partitioned into two halves (namely, i module $2^{t+1}$ and $i+2^t$ module $2^{t+1}$), and either half presents ``I'' or ``O'' in intermediately forthcoming (t+1)-th computation.

A new proof-of-work is introduced which seems to be the first number theoretic proof-of-work unrelated to primes: it is based on a new metric associated to the Collatz algorithm whose natural generalization is algorithmically undecidable: the inflation propensity is defined as the cardinality of new maxima in a developing Collatz orbit. It is numerically verified that the distribution of inflation propensity slowly converges to a geometric distribution of parameter $0.714 \approx \frac{(\pi - 1)}{3}$ as the sample size increases. This pseudo-randomness opens the door to a new class of proofs-of-work based on congruential graphs.

Using assembly theory, we investigate the assembly pathways of fixed-length binary strings formed by joining the individual bits present in the assembly pool and the strings that entered the pool as a result of previous joining operations. We show that the string assembly index is bounded from below and above, and we conjecture about the form of the upper bound. We show that a string having the smallest assembly index can be assembled by an elegant trivial program of length equal to this index, if the length of the string is expressible as a product of Fibonacci numbers. We conjecture that there is no binary program that has a length shorter than the length of the string having the largest assembly index that could assemble this string. We conjecture that a black hole surface is defined by a balanced distinct string that satisfies the upper bound of a distinct string assembly index. The results confirm that four Planck areas provide a minimum information capacity that provides a minimum thermodynamic (Bekenstein-Hawking) entropy. Knowing that the problem of determining the assembly index is at least NP-complete, we conjecture that the problem of determining the assembly index of a given binary string is NP-complete, while the problem of creating the string so that it would have a predetermined maximum assembly index is NP-hard. Therefore, once the new information is assembled by a dissipative structure or by a human, increasing the information entropy according to the second law of infodynamics, it is subject to the second law of thermodynamics, and nature seeks to optimize its assembly pathway.
