The two-parameter Wright special function is an interesting mathematical object that arises in the theory of the space and time-fractional diffusion equations. Moreover, many other special functions are particular instantiations of the Wright function. The article demonstrates finite representations of the Wright function in terms of sums of generalized hypergeometric functions, which in turn provide connections with the theory of the Gaussian, Airy, Bessel, and Error functions, etc. The main application of the presented results is envisioned in computer algebra for testing numerical algorithms for the evaluation of the Wright function.

In this paper, we pursue and investigate the solutions for fractional kinetic equations, involving Bessel-Struve function by means of their Sumudu transforms. In the process, one Important special case is then revealed, and analyzed. The results obtained in terms of Bessel-Struve function are rather general in nature and can easily construct various known and new fractional kinetic equations.

In a 2014 paper by C. Fulton, D. Pearson, and S. Pruess, a new characterization of the spectral density function is given for a Sturm-Liouville equation. These authors provide spectral theory showing that the Appell system, a companion linear system of ordinary differential equations, can be utilized to obtain a spectral density function. Though this new method is both elegant for its simplicity and fully viable (as is shown in this work), it has largely been ignored in the literature since its discovery with no citations yet logged in the MathSciNet database. To motivate greater attention towards this 2014 paper, the new spectral theory within it, and its potential applications, work is given here by this author demonstrating a nontrivial example of this new spectral method being applied towards the Bessel Equation in its Liouville-Normal (L-N) form. Validations of results obtained in this paper are also given, showing full agreement with the classical results obtained by E.C. Titchmarsh.

We present a new family of Bessel solutions of the paraxial equation. Such solutions keep their form during propagation due to a quadratic phase factor that makes them scaled propagation invariant fields. The Bessel beams we introduce have the particularity that the topological phase is twice the order of the Bessel function and the argument varies quadratically with the radius

Abstract The modified Bessel function (MBF) of the first kind is a fundamental special function in mathematics with applications in a large number of areas. When the order of this function is integer, it has an integral representation which includes the exponential of the cosine function. Here we generalize this MBF to include a fractional parameter, such that the exponential in the previously mentioned integral is replaced by a Mittag-Leffler function. The necessity for this generalization arises from a problem of communication in networks. We find the power series representation of the fractional MBF of the first kind, as well as some differential properties. We give some examples of its utility in graph/networks analysis and mention some fundamental open problems for further investigation.

Let $(Omega, mu)$ be a measure space and $\{\tau_\alpha\}_{\alpha\in \Omega}$ be a normalized continuous Bessel family for a real Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}$. If the diagonal $\Delta \{(\alpha, \alpha):\alpha \in \Omega\}$ is measurable in the measure space $\Omega\times \Omega$, then we show that \begin{align}\label{CRBA} \sup _{\alpha, \beta \in \Omega, \alpha\neq \beta}\langle \tau_\alpha, \tau_\beta\rangle \geq \frac{-(\mu\times\mu)(\Delta)}{(\mu\times\mu)((\Omega\times\Omega)\setminus\Delta)}. \end{align} We call Inequality (1) as continuous Rankin bound. It improves 76 years old result of Rankin [Ann. of Math., 1947]. It also answers one of the questions asked by K. M. Krishna in the paper [Continuous Welch bounds with applications, Commun. Korean Math. Soc., 2023]. We also derive Banach space version of Inequality (1).

Speckle patterns are formed by random interferences of mutually coherent beams. While speckles are often considered as an unwanted noise in many areas, they also formed the foundation for the development of numerous speckle-based imaging, holography and sensing technologies. In the recent years, artificial speckle patterns have been generated with spatially incoherent sources using static and dynamic optical modulators for advanced imaging applications. In this report, a fundamental study has been carried out with Bessel distribution as the fundamental building block of the speckle pattern: speckle patterns formed by randomly interfering Bessel beams. Indirect computational imaging framework has been applied to study the imaging characteristics. In general, Bessel beams have a long focal depth, which in this scenario is counteracted by the increase in randomness enabling tunability of the axial resolution between the limits of Bessel beam and a Gaussian beam. Three-dimensional computational imaging has been synthetically demonstrated. The presented study will lead to a new generation of incoherent imaging technologies.

We propose a method for creating parallel Bessel-like vortical optical needles with an arbitrary axial intensity distribution via superposition of different cone-angle Bessel vortices. We analyze the interplay between the separation of individual optical vortical needles and their respective lengths and introduce a super-Gaussian function as their axial profile. We also analyze the physical limitations to observe well-separated optic needles, as they are influenced by mutual interference of the individual beams. To verify our theoretical and numerical results, we generate controllable spatial arrays of individual Bessel beams with various numbers and spatial separations by altering the spectrum of the incoming laser beam via the spatial light modulator. We demonstrate experimentally how to implement such beams using a diffractive mask. The presented method facilitates the creation of diverse spatial intensity distributions in three dimensions, potentially finding applications in specific microfabrication tasks or other contexts. These beams may have benefits in laser material processing applications such as nanochannel machining, glass via production, modification of glass refractive indices, and glass dicing.

A theoretical model to translate the evolution over time, in early stages, of growth and accumulation of biofilm bacterial mass is introduced. The model implies the solution of a system of differential-difference master equations. The application of an algorithm like Miller´s tree term recurrence, already known for Bessel functions of first kind, allows an exact calculation of the solutions of such equations, for a wide range of parameters values and time. For biofilm model a five term recurrence is deduced and applied in a backwards computation. A suitable normalisation condition completes the reach of the solution.

Recently, representation formulae and monotonicity properties of generalized k-Bessel functions, Wk v,c., were established and studied by SR Mondal [24]. In this paper, we pursue and investigate some of their image formulae. We then extract solutions for fractional kinetic equations, involving Wk v,c, by means of their Sumudu transforms. In the process, Important special cases are then revealed, and analyzed.

Current-quark masses are compared to the rest masses allowed by the Helmholtz equation in a polar model. Within the uncertainty of the current u quark mass determination, the current quark mass coincides with the rest mass allowed by the Helmholtz equation in the polar model in accordance with the second root of the zero Neumann function. Current d quark mass coincides with the rest mass calculated in accordance with the third root of the Bessel zero function. On the basis of a comparison of these results with the results obtained earlier for ordinary real particles u and d quarks stability is discussed.

We consider the second order differential equation y'' + ω^(2)ρ(x)y = 0 where ω is a positive parameter. The principal concern here is to find conditions on the function ρ^(−1/2)(x), which ensure that the consecutive differences of sequences constructed from the zeros of a nontrivial solution of the equation are regular in sign for ω sufficiently large. In particular, if c_(νk)(α) denotes the k-th positive zero of the general Bessel (cylinder) function C_(ν)(x; α) = J_(ν)(x) cos α−Y_(ν)(x) sin α of order ν, and if |ν| < 1/2, we prove that (−1)^(m)∆^(m+2)c_(νk)(α) > 0 (m = 0, 1, 2, ...; k = 1, 2, ...), where ∆a_(k) = a_(k+1) − a_(k). This type of inequalities was conjectured by Lorch and Szego in 1963. We also show that the differences of the zeros of various orthogonal polynomials with higher degrees possess the sign-regularity.

In this paper, the transmutation operator method is used to construct an exact solution to the initial boundary value problem for the equation of multidimensional free transverse vibration of a thin elastic plate with a singular Bessel operator acting on geometric variables. We emphasize that multidimensional Erdélyi–Kober operators of fractional order have the property of a transmutation operator, allowing one to transform more complex multidimensional partial differential equations with singular coefficients acting over all variables into simpler ones. If formulas for solutions are known for a simple equation, then we also obtain representations for solutions to the first complex partial differential equation with singular coefficients. In particular, it is successfully applied to the singular differential equations, especially with Bessel-type operators. Using this operator, the considered problem is reduced to a similar problem without the Bessel operator. Based on the solution to the auxiliary problem, an exact solution to the original problem is constructed and analyzed.

The Bessel function of the first kind J_N(kx) is expanded in a Fourier-Legendre series, as is the modified Bessel functions of the first kind I_N(kx) . Known polynomial approximations for the range −3≤x≤3 (having five-digit accuracy) are compared with those arising from this Legendre series and substitute versions are given with twice the number of terms and range (with five-digit accuracy or having fifteen-digit accuracy over −3≤x≤3). It is shown that infinite series of like-powered contributors (involving _2F_3 hypergeometric functions) extracted from the Fourier-Legendre series may be summed, having values that are inverse powers of the first five primes 1/(2^i 3^j 5^k 7^l 11^mm) for powers of order x24.

The study of coherent vortices remains an urgent field of singular optics of vortex beams. In this paper, coherent properties of partially coherent vortex Bessel—Gaussian optical beams propagating through a uniform medium (free space) or a turbulent atmosphere are examined theoretically. The consideration is based on analytical solution of the equation for the transverse second-order mutual coherence function of the field of a partially coherent optical radiation in a turbulent atmosphere. For the partially coherent Bessel—Gaussian beam, the second-order mutual coherence function of the source field is taken as a Gaussian Shell-model. In this approximation, we analyze the behavior of the coherence degree and the integral coherence scale of these beams as a function of the propagation pathlength, propagation conditions, and beam parameters, such as the radius of the Gauss factor of the beam, parameter of the Bessel factor of the beam, topological charge, and correlation width of the source field of partially coherent radiation. In addition, the integral coherence scale of the partially coherent vortex Bessel—Gaussian beam is compared with that of the partially coherent Gaussian beam. It is found that as a partially coherent vortex Bessel—Gaussian beam propagates through a turbulent atmosphere, there appear not two (as might be expected: one due to atmospheric turbulence and another due to partial coherence of the source field), but only one ring dislocation of the coherence degree (due to the simultaneous effect of both these factors on the optical radiation). In addition, it is shown that the dislocation of the coherence degree that affects significantly the beam coherence level is formed only for beams, for which the coherence width of the source field is larger than the diameter of the first Fresnel zone.

Moreover, the authors also collect an probabilistic interpretation and applications in engineering of the Toader–Qi mean.
