Syntactic foam has proven to be a good material with a strong structural strength. Understanding filler particle size variation is important in composite material formation especially in syntactic foam because of their numerous applications such as aerospace, marine and structural purposes. In this present work, the effects of particle variation in different sizes (20-24µm, 25-44µm, 45-49µm, and 50-60µm) on the mechanical properties of the syntactic foam composites with focus on flexural strength, modulus, and fracture surfaces were investigated. The particle sizes were varied into five volume fractions (5, 10, 15, 20, and 25vol%). The results shows that highest flexural strength is 89MPa at 5 vol% fraction of 50-60µm particles size variation which is 69% increase than the neat epoxy. This implies that the incorporation of HGM filler volume fraction and size variation has a strong effect on the flexural strength and bending modulus of syntactic foam. The microstructure of the fracture surfaces and the viscoelastic properties was determined and reported accordingly.

The current investigation presents porous ceramic materials prepared of cenospheres prepared by spark plasma sintering. The impact of sintering temperature, mould diameter (20 and 30 mm diameter) and cenosphere size on the properties of the sintered material was investigated. Shrinkage of the samples during sintering started at 900 °C. Sample shrinkage during sintering increases with increasing temperature and decreases with increasing mould size; increasing sample sintering temperature increases the apparent density of all sample series CS 63-150 µm in 20 mm mould from 0.97 to 2.3 g·cm-3 at 1050 - 1300 °C, in 30 mm mould 0.81 - 1.87 g·cm-3 at 1050 - 1200 °C, in 50 mm mould 0.54 - 0.75 g·cm-3 at 1050 - 1150 °C, while CS 150-250 µm in 20 mm mould 0.93 - 1.96 g·cm-3 at 1050 - 1200 °C. Total porosity decreases from 61.5% to 3.9% with increasing sintering temperature from 1050 to 1250 °C, while open porosity reduces at lower temperatures, with closed porosity being highest in samples sintered at 1150 °C. When the sintering temperature increases from 1050 to 1300 °C, the compressive strength of the CS 63-150 samples produced in a 20 mm mould increases from 11 MPa to 312 MPa. These results correlate with the Rice model, which describes an exponential dependence of compressive strength on material porosity and fully dense material compressive strength.

The evolution of sentence representation learning, especially with parse tree encoders, has shown remarkable progress. Traditional approaches predominantly rely on recursive encoding of tree structures, which impedes parallel processing capabilities. Additionally, these methods often overlook the significance of dependency tree arc labels. To overcome these limitations, we introduce the Syntax-Enhanced Transformer (SET), incorporating a novel dual-attention mechanism that integrates relation-focused attention alongside traditional self-attention. This design effectively encodes both dependency and spatial positional relationships within sentence dependency trees. Our approach innovatively incorporates syntactic information into the Transformer framework without compromising its inherent parallelizability. The SET demonstrates superior or comparable performance to contemporary methods across various sentence representation tasks, significantly enhancing computational efficiency.

This paper introduces a novel graph polynomial approach for differentiating tree structures in dependency grammar. Utilizing this polynomial representation, we develop a metric to assess the similarity in syntax. This approach offers a detailed and inclusive analysis of the dependency structures and relationships in sentence construction. We employ this polynomial method to examine sentence structures across various languages in the Parallel Universal Dependencies treebanks. Our analysis includes comparing the syntax of original sentences and their translated counterparts in diverse languages, alongside a comprehensive study of syntactic typologies within these treebanks. Additionally, we explore the application of our methodology in evaluating the syntactic diversity within language corpora.

Our natural language approach concerns syntactic analysis using a dedicated Javascript library - wink-nlp - and semantic analysis based on Prolog programming language, facilitated by another Javascript library - tau-prolog - that allows defining logical programs, declaring rules and checking for goals inside Javascript language. Firstly, our program splits the original text into sentences, than into tokens and identifies each part of the sentence, dynamically maps entities into Prolog rules, then check the spelling accordingly to the Definite Clause Grammar (DCG) by querying the pre-defined program for initial goals (the sentence itself). Basically, we let the parser infer its own rules from the syntactic point of view, then check the grammar from a semantic perspective against the DCG inside the same work flow or pipeline of steps.The provided article combine the usage of wink-nlp and tau-prolog packages for natural language processing (NLP) and understanding (NLU).

This study aimed to verify the sex differences in early syntactic development among Cantonese-speaking children by Tse et al. (2002), with the same corpus design but a different Chinese language: Mandarin. The utterances produced during half-hour play activities by 192 Beijing children, ranging from 3 to 6 years, were collected in the Early Child Mandarin Corpus (Li & Tse, 2011) and analyzed for this study. Their syntactic development was measured in terms of mean length of utterance (MLU), sentence type and structure, syntactic complexity, and verb pattern. The statistical analyses indicated significant age differences in MLU, sentence types and structures, and syntactic complexity. However, no sex or age-by-sex differences were found. This negative evidence indicates that sex difference is neither universal nor cross-language. The implications for early childhood education and future studies are discussed.

The realm of natural language processing has always been fascinated by the intricacies of sentence semantics. The emergence of context-aware word representations, especially from pre-trained models like ELMO and BERT, has revolutionized several semantic tasks including but not limited to, question answering, text categorization, and sentiment analysis. Despite these advancements, the integration of supplementary knowledge, particularly syntactic, to augment semantic comprehension in models remains an area ripe for exploration. This paper introduces the Syntactic Enhancement Network (SEN), a pioneering method for synergizing syntactic elements with established pre-trained language models. Our approach encompasses a dual-phase evaluation: initially, we delve into the syntactic augmentation of both RNN-based and Transformer-based language models; subsequently, we test our SEN's proficiency in two specific domains: the task of sentence completion and the extraction of biological relationships. The results are striking, with SEN achieving a stellar 91.2% accuracy in sentence completion—surpassing baseline models by a substantial 37.8%. In the context of biological relation extraction, SEN demonstrates competitive prowess with a 75.1% F1 score.

Present study focuses on the synthesis and characterisation of a lightweight ceramic material with electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding properties, achieved using mullite containing micrometer-sized hollow spheres (cenospheres) and CoFe2O4 nanoparticles. The research explores compositions with varying CoFe2O4 content, ranging from 0 up to 20 wt.%. Сonventional sintering in an air atmosphere is carried out at a temperature between 1100-1300 °C. The addition of ferrite nanoparticles was found to enhance the sintering process of cenospheres, resulting in improved material density and mechanical properties. Furthermore, the study reveals a direct correlation between the concentration of ferrite nanoparticles and the electromagnetic properties of the. By increasing the concentration of ferrite nanoparticles, the electromagnetic shielding effect of the material (saturation magnetization (Ms) and remanent magnetization (Mr)) was observed to strengthen. These findings provide valuable insights into the design and development of lightweight ceramic materials with enhanced electromagnetic shielding capabilities. The synthesized ceramic material holds promise for various applications that require effective electromagnetic shielding, such as in electronics, telecommunications, and aerospace industries.

Recent developments, begun by the ascending spiral of the anticipated endless prospects of ChatGPT, promote artificial intelligence (AI) as an indispensable tool and commodity whose time has come. Yet the sinister specter of a technology that has hidden and unmanageable attributes that might be harmful to society looms in the background. As well as the likelihood that it will never deliver on the purported promise of artificial general intelligence (AGI). Currently the prospects for the development of AI and AGI are more a matter of opinion than based on a consistent methodological approach. Thus the need to take a step back to develop a general framework from which to evaluate current AI efforts, which also permits the determination of the limits to its future prospects as AGI. To gain insight into the development of a general framework, a key question that needs resolution is, what is the connection between human intelligence and machine intelligence? This is the question that needs a response because humans are at the center of AI creation and realize that without an understanding of how we become what we become, we have no chance of finding a solution. This work proposes infoautopoiesis, the self-referential, recursive and interactive process of self-production of information, as the needed general framework. Infoautopoiesis shows how the key ingredient of information is fundamental to an insightful resolution to this crucial question and allows predictions as to the present and future of AGI.

Embedding representation models characterize each word as a vector of numbers with a fixed length. These models have been used in tasks involving text classification, such as recommen- dation and question-answer systems. Semantic relationships are words with a relationship between them providing a complete idea to a text. Therefore, it is hypothesized that an embedding model involving semantic relationships will provide better performance for tasks that use them. This paper presents three embedding models based on semantic relations extracted fromWikipedia to classify texts. The synonym, hyponym, and hyperonym semantic relationships were the ones considered in this work since previous experiments have shown that they are the ones that provide the most semantic knowledge. Lexical-syntactic patterns present in the literature were implemented and subsequently applied to the Wikipedia corpus to obtain the semantic relationships present in it. Several semantic relationships are used in different models: synonymy, hyponym-hyperonym, and a combination of the first two. A convolutional neural network was trained for text classification to evaluate the performance of each model. The results obtained were evaluated with the metrics of precision, accuracy, recall, and F1-measure. The best values obtained with the second model were accuracy of 0.79 for the 20-Newsgroup corpus. F1-measure and recall of 0.87 respectively for the Reuters corpus.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) may sometimes unexpected loss of life. It affects the heart and blood vessels of body. CVD plays an important factor of life since it may cause death of human. It is necessary to detect early of this disease for securing patients life. In this chpter two exclusively different methods are proposed for detection of heart disease. The first one is Pattern Recognition Approach with grammatical concept and the second one is machine learning approach. In the syntactic pattern recognition approach initially ECG wave from different leads is decomposed into pattern primitive based on diagnostic criteria. These primitives are then used as terminals of the proposed grammar. Pattern primitives are then input to the grammar. The parsing table is created in a tabular form. It finally indicates the patient with any disease or normal. Here five diseases beside normal are considered. Different Machine Learning (ML) approaches may be used for detecting patients with CVD and assisting health care systems also. These are useful for learning and utilizing the patterns discovered from large databases. It applies to a set of information in order to recognize underlying relationship patterns from the information set. It is basically a learning stage. Unknown incoming set of patterns can be tested using these methods. Due to its self-adaptive structure Deep Learning (DL) can process information with minimal processing time. DL exemplifies the use of neural network. A predictive model follows DL techniques for analyzing and assessing patients with heart disease. A hybrid approach based on Convolutional Layer and Gated-Recurrent Unit (GRU) are used in the paper for diagnosing the heart disease.

Most natural language processing (NLP) tasks suffer performance degradation when encountering long complex sentences, such as semantic parsing, syntactic parsing, machine translation, and text summarization. Previous works address the issue with an intuition of decomposing complex sentences and linking simple ones, such as RST-style discourse parsing, split-and-rephrase (SPRP), text simplification (TS), simple-sentence-decomposition (SSD), etc. However, these works are not applicable for semantic parsing like abstract meaning representation (AMR) parsing and semantic dependency parsing due to misalignments to semantic relations and unavailabilities to preserve original semantics. Following the same intuition and avoiding deficiencies of previous works, we propose a novel framework, hierarchical clause annotation (HCA), based on the linguistic research of clause hierarchy. With the HCA framework, we annotate a large HCA corpus to explore the potentialities of integrating HCA structural features into semantic parsing with complex sentences. Moreover, we decompose HCA into two subtasks, i.e., clause segmentation and clause parsing, and provide neural baseline models for more silver annotations.

Converting natural language into machine language that can be recognized by distributed systems is the core challenge of intelligent interactive interfaces and human-machine dialogue systems. The human-machine interface interaction of large distributed SCADA measurement and control system is tedious and the operation and maintenance cost is high, so it is significant to design an intelligent natural language interaction interface for distributed measurement and control system. In this paper, we design the intermediate language format of SCADA system, i.e., Key-value logic form, and then formulate the Text2SCADA framework and propose the TICS algorithm and SDPA algorithm, the former adopts the keyword extraction and cosine similarity optimization algorithm to complete the structured extraction of natural language for basic natural language instructions, and the latter adopts the keyword extraction and cosine similarity optimization algorithm to complete the structured extraction of natural language for relatively The latter one adopts the algorithm of dependent syntactic analysis for the structured representation of natural language instructions with relatively complex natural language instructions. Based on the above algorithms, a lightweight information extraction model based on DGCNN and probabilistic graph ideas is constructed, aiming to enhance the scientific generalization ability of the framework on unknown instruction sets. The experimental results show that the proposed intelligent natural language interface can better solve the human-machine interface interaction problem of distributed SCADA measurement and control system. The average accuracy, recall and F-value of instruction parsing reach 89.27\%, 89.28\% and 89.27\%, respectively. The average response time is 1.593 s. Especially, it provides a more convenient means of interaction for industrial and agricultural information control.

The notion of information and complexity are important concepts in many scientific fields such as molecular biology, evolutionary theory, and exobiology. Many measures of these quantities, either rely on a statistical notion of information, are difficult to compute, or can only be applied to strings. Based on assembly theory, we propose the notion of a \textit{ladderpath}, which describes how an object can be decomposed into a hierarchical structure using repetitive elements. From the ladderpath two measures naturally emerge: the ladderpath-index and the order-index, which represent two axes of complexity. We show how the ladderpath approach can be applied to both strings and spatial patterns and argue that all systems that undergo evolution can be described as ladderpaths. Further, we discuss possible applications to human language and the origins of life. The ladderpath approach provides a novel characterization of the information that is contained in a single object (or a system) and could aid in our understanding of evolving systems and the origin of life in particular.

Understanding the structural intricacies of RNA molecules is essential for deciphering numerous biological processes. Traditionally, scientists have relied on experimental methods to gain insights and draw conclusions. However, the recent advent of advanced computational techniques has significantly accelerated and refined the accuracy of research results in several areas. A particularly challenging aspect of RNA analysis is the prediction of its secondary structure, which is crucial for elucidating its functional role in biological systems. This paper deals with the prediction of pseudoknots in RNA, focusing on two types of pseudoknots: K-type and M-type pseudoknots. Pseudoknots are complex RNA formations in which nucleotides in a loop form base pairs with nucleotides outside the loop and thus contribute to essential biological functions. Accurate prediction of these structures is crucial for understanding RNA dynamics and interactions. Building on our previous work in which we developed a framework for the recognition of H- and L-type pseudoknots, an extended grammar-based framework tailored to the prediction of K- and M-type pseudoknots is proposed. This approach uses syntactic pattern recognition techniques and provides a systematic method to identify and characterize these complex RNA structures. Our framework uses context-free grammars (CFGs) to model RNA sequences and predict the occurrence of pseudoknots. By formulating specific grammatical rules for type K and type M pseudoknots, we enable efficient parsing of RNA sequences to recognize potential pseudoknot configurations. This method ensures an exhaustive exploration of possible pseudoknot structures within a reasonable time frame. In addition, the proposed method incorporates essential concepts of biology, such as base pairing optimization and free energy reduction, to improve the accuracy of pseudoknot prediction. These principles are crucial to ensure that the predicted structures are biologically plausible. By embedding these principles into our grammar-based framework, we aim to predict RNA conformations that are both theoretically sound and biologically relevant.

The Semantic-Enhanced Tree-LSTM (SeT-LSTM) network, a novel advancement in the realm of linguistic modeling, marks a significant step forward from traditional Tree-based Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) networks. By intricately weaving in the nuances of typed grammatical dependencies, SeT-LSTMs offer a more nuanced understanding of language semantics. Traditional models often overlook the semantic shift caused by variations in word or phrase roles, a gap this paper aims to fill by focusing on the types of grammatical connections, or typed dependencies, within sentences. Our proposed architecture, dubbed the Semantic Relationship-Guided LSTM (SRG-LSTM), leverages a control mechanism to model the interplay between sequence elements. Additionally, we present a novel Tree-LSTM variant, the Semantic Dependency Tree-LSTM (SDT-LSTM), which integrates dependency parse structures with dependency types for more robust sentence embedding. The SDT-LSTM demonstrates superior performance in Semantic Relatedness Scoring and Sentiment Analysis compared to its predecessors. Qualitatively, it shows resilience to changes in sentence voice and heightened sensitivity to nominal alterations, aligning well with human intuition. This research underlines the pivotal role of grammatical relationships in sentence understanding and paves the way for further exploration in this domain.

We have studied the very large amount of literary works written by the Italian mystic Maria Valtorta to assess similarities and differences in her writings because she claims that most of them are due to mystical visions. We have used mathematical and statistical tools developed for specifically studying deep linguistic aspects of texts. The general trend indicates that the literary works explicitly attributable to Maria Valtorta differ significantly from her other literary works, that she claims are attributable to the alleged characters Jesus and Mary. Mathematically, they seem to have been written by different authors. The comparison with the Italian literature is very striking. A single author, namely Maria Valtorta, seems to be able to write texts so diverse to cover the entire mathematical range (suitable defined) of the Italian literature of seven centuries.
