In many previous studies, the conclusions for the effects of disturbance and environmental gradients on the diversity was remain controversial due to exclusions of trait-based diversity in their methodology. This study hypothesized trait-based indices are more likely to show monotonic and predictable relations than traditional based species diversity to guide effective restoration of tree species diversity against environmental change and anthropogenic factors. This study therefore, was initiated to access trait based functional diversity of Yayu Coffee Forest Biosphere Reserve (YCFBR), Southwest Ethiopia. Data was collected from 90 proportionally distributed plots along disturbance levels from core, buffer and transitional zones. For functional trait diversity estimation, traits relevant to plant-life strategy, competition and response to disturbances and climate change were selected. Multiple regression model was used to test the response of species diversity and functional diversity to disturbance and environmental gradients. The result revealed that, anthropogenic disturbance and elevational gradients are the most important factors influencing functional diversity in the YCFBR. Overall this study demonstrates that, trait based functional diversity is useful to predict adaptation potentials of species in heterogeneous environments. Species with low specific leaf area & selective seed mass is recommended for the restoration of disturbed ecosystem.

Limnologists often adhere to a discretized view of waterbodies—they classify them, divide them into zones, promote discrete management targets, and use research tools, experimental designs, and statistical analyses focused on discretization. This approach to limnology has profoundly benefited the way we understand, manage, and communicate about waterbodies. But the research questions and the research tools in limnology are changing rapidly with consequences for the relevance of our current discretization schemes. Here, I examine how and why we discretize and argue that selectively rethinking the extent to which we must discretize gives us an exceptional chance to advance limnology in new ways.

Liver is structurally organized into zonation where LSECs endothelial cells play a crucial role during chronic liver injury and early stages of fibrosis. Fibrosis can be reversed if diagnosed early at molecular level in zonation before progressing to advanced stages like bridging fibrosis. This study identified zonation marker genes using scRNA-seq and spatial transcriptomics molecular profiling technologies in normal and diseased fibrotic human liver. DEG analysis is performed over LSECs and identified the top 20 expressed genes in periportal, perivenous, and intermediate acinar zones. Multi-omics and scRNA-seq analysis over Visium images and ECs liver cells figured out OIT3, DNASE1L3, CLEC4G, LYVE1, FCN2, CRHBP as commonly expressed mid-lobular zonation-specific genes. Also, this study detected STAB2, F8, AQP1, TEK, TIMP3, TIE1, CTSL genes as expressed in DILI and NASH ECs populations. The connection between LSECs marker genes in zone 2 and liver fibrosis holds significant promise for advancing our understanding in developing new therapeutic strategies for fibrosis reversal and designing computational molecular biomarkers in NASH and DILI fibrotic liver diseases.

The main goal of this paper is to present results of preliminary archaeological research on the south side of Lake Issyk-Kul in Kyrgyzstan. We test the hypothesis that agropastoral land use changed over four millennia from the Bronze Age through the ethnographic Kirghiz period due to economic, socio-political, and religious changes in the prehistoric and historic societies of this region. Our research objectives are to: (1) describe and analyze survey results from Lower Kizil Suu Valley; (2) discuss the results of radiometric and archaeobotanical samples taken from three stratigraphic profiles from three settlements from the Juuku Valley, including these chronological periods: the Wusun period (200 to 400 CE), the Qarakhanid period (1100 to 1200 CE), and the ethnographic Kirghiz period (1700 to 1900 CE); and (3) conduct preliminary GIS spatial analyses on the Iron Age mortuary remains (Saka and Wusun period). This research emerges out of the first archaeological surveys conducted in 2019 - 2021 and includes the Lower Kizil Suu alluvial fan; it is an initial step toward developing a model for agropastoral land use for upland valleys of the Inner Tian Shan Mountains.

The origin of the man at the Earth is directly associated with the determination of directions of the flow distribution of the ancient man migration to adjacent territories. In such studies traditionally mainly landscape and climatological changes are considered. We suggest that along with the above factors, regional tectonic-geodynamic factors played a dominant role in the character of migration. The considered African-Levantine-Caucasian region is one of the most complex regions of the world, where collisional and spreading processes of geodynamics converge. First is determined an essential influence of the Akchagylian hydrospheric maximum (about 200 m above the mean sea level) limiting the ancient men migration from Africa to Eurasia. We propose that the Levantine Corridor emerged after the end of the Akchagylian transgression and landscape forming in the Eastern Mediterranean. This corridor location was formed by the movements between the Dead Sea Transform and the boundary of the carbonate platform of the Mesozoic Terrane Belt. Further landscape evolution was largely determined by the geodynamic behavior of the deep mantle rotating structure occurring below the central part of the region under study. All the mentioned events around and in the Levantine Corridor have been studied in detail on the basis of the combined geodynamic, paleogeographic, and paleomagnetic analyzes performed in northern Israel (Carmel uplift and Galilee plateau). Careful studies of the Evron quarry geological section indicate that it is a unique one for the dating of the marine and continental archaeological sequences and sheds light on the movement of the ancient man along the Levantine Corridor.
