Fractures of the talar neck and body are associated with spine fractures and scoliosis deformity, which affect cosmetic appearance and cause difficulty in ambulation. The implant design for talus surgery is thriving as a functional alternative in case of severe talar destruction, focusing on segmentation and reconstruction of the talus’s shape. However, manual segmentation of the talus is time-consuming and subjective. In this study we exploited the automatic segmentation framework to efficiently train a deep learning-based model to accurately segment the talus based on computed tomography imaging. We developed three model configurations with nnU-Net and investigated their Dice similarity coefficients (DSC) and 95% Hausdorff distances (HD95) for talus segmentation on a CT image dataset. The three configurations performed well (DSC > 0.95, HD95 < 0.6). When tested on the same samples, one of the configurations was more efficient while ensuring higher accuracy. We propose to focus on talus anatomic variations with increasing age based on this framework and apply it to clinical trials at the next stage.

Prestress loss evaluation in prestressed strand is essential for prestressed structures. However, the sensors installed outside the duct can only measure the total prestress loss. The sensors attached on strand inside the duct also have several problems, such as inadequate durability in an aggressive environment, vulnerable damage at tensioning and so on. This paper proposes a new installation method for long-gauge fiber Bragg grating (LFBG) sensor to prevent accidental damage. Then the itemized prestress losses were determined in each stage of the pre-tensioning and post-tensioning according to the LFBG measurements. We verified the applicability of the LFBG sensors for prestress monitoring and the accuracy of the proposed prestress loss calculation method during pre-tensioning and post-tensioning. In the pre-tensioning case, the calculated prestress losses had less deviation from the true losses than those obtained from foil-strain gauges, and the durability of the LFBG sensors was better than foil-strain gauges, whereas in post-tensioning case, the calculated prestress losses were close to those derived from theoretical predictions. Finally, we monitored prestress variation in the strand for 90 days. The itemized prestress losses at each stages of post-tensioning were obtained by the proposed calculation method to show the prospect of the LFBG sensors in practical evaluation.

The extrinsic and intrinsic factors are essential in glioma initiation. Many extrinsic factors (UV, radiation, food, etc.) and intrinsic factors (proteins, hormones, ageing, DNA and RNA damages, etc.) was reported to being responsible for glioma initiation and progression. However, the cell responsible for glioma origin is still unknown. Many research papers have reported that glioma stem cells, senescent cells, injured cells, and death neurons are the cells of glioma origin. However, gene mutation and oncogene protein overexpression doesn’t occur only in cancer but during life evolution. The source of genetic mutations has become a fundamental issue in understanding its role in the initiation of glioma. The glioma is the precise coordination of several distant factors that work together in the initiation and development of glioma. However, the role and effects of the genes (GDNF and SOX1) on cancer cells are well known, but their gene mutation origin is controversial. Several models and theories have been proposed to explain the origins of GDNF and SOX1 genetic mutations and epigenetic modification related to cancer. Our aim in this review is to clear that incertitude about glioma origin (gene mutation and epigenetic modifications) and those factors involved in glioma initiation and recurrence.

Effective detection of isopropyl methylfluorophosphonate (GB, sarin), a type of organophosphine poisoning agent, is an urgent issue to be addressed in maintaining public safety. In this research, a gas-sensitive film material defined as poly (4-hydroxy-4,4-bis trifluoromethyl) - butyl-1-enyl) - si-loxane (SXFA) with the structure of hexafluoroisopropyl (HFIP) functional group was synthesized by using methyl vinylpropyl dichlorosilane and hexafluoroacetone trihydrate as initial materials. Synthesis process products were characterized by FTIR. SXFA was prepared on a 200 MHz shear surface wave delay line with spin coating method for GB detected. Detection limit of ＜ 0.1 mg/m3 was obtained through conditional experiments. Meanwhile, we also obtained the maximum re-sponse of 2.168 mV at 0.1 mg/m3 concentration, which indicting a much lower detection limit of SAW-SXFA sensor. Additionally, the maximum response standard deviation of 0.11 mV with a co-efficient of variation of 0.01, as well as the maximum recovery standard deviation of 0.22 mV with a coefficient of variation of 0.02 were also obtained through 5 repeated experiments. Results showed that the SAW-SXFA sensor has strong selectivity and reproducibility, good selectivity, positive detection ability, high sensitivity, and fast alarm performance for sarin detection.

Solar heating technology is a promising solution to promote China to achieve the “3060 double carbon” target as soon as possible. And seasonal thermal storage (STS) can effectively solve the mismatch problem of solar heating systems between the supply and demand of thermal energy. Due to the instability of solar radiation resources and heat demand, it is necessary to analyze the dynamic response characteristics of the system. Yet, related studies are still scarce. In this study, a solar heating system with a solar tower receiver and STS was introduced in north China. The dynamic performance of the system is analyzed with a dynamic simulated method in a typical day or typical operation modes, and the switch mechanism between multiple operation modes is also revealed. The impact of different heating strategies on system performance was analyzed. Results showed that the solar fraction of the system reached 89.4% in the third year, which was 3.6% higher than the first year. The quality-quantity heating operation strategies can be effective ways to improve the discharge efficiency of STS and the system performance without any heat pump. The electricity consumption of the pump on the heating side could be significantly reduced by 44.6% compared with the quality control.
