Phytopathogenic oomycetes are known to infect a host plant successfully due to their ability to secrete a set of protein effectors. Of interest to many researchers are effectors with the N-terminal RxLR motif (Arginine-any amino acid-Leucine-Arginine). Owing to the genome sequencing, we can now comprehend the high level of diversity among oomycete effectors, and similarly, their conservation within and among species core RxLR effectors (CREs). Currently, there are a couple of putative CREs that have been identified in oomycetes. The functional characterization of these CREs proposes their virulence role with the potential of targeting central cellular processes that are conserved across diverse plant species. This could be harnessed in engineering plants for broad-spectrum and durable resistance.

Ice and snow on roads in winter endanger traffic safety. The existing methods of snow and ice removal have various drawbacks, which need further research. Aiming at solving limitations about high labor intensity, low efficiency, serious environmental pollution of traditional snow and ice removal methods, the anti-icing coating technology of high-voltage conductors is used for reference, and in view of the characteristics of asphalt pavement deicing, an ice-suppressing material that can effectively reduce the adhesion between snow, ice and pavement is successfully developed. As there is no perfect evaluation index and method for ice-suppressing materials at present, this paper further evaluates the performance of ice-suppressing materials from the aspects of deicing performance, durability, adhesion and the impact of ice-suppressing materials on pavement performance. The test results show that the ice-suppressing material can effectively reduce the adhesion between the ice layer and the specimen, making it easier to remove. The ice-suppression material has good slow-release performance, and the specimens still have good deicing performance after 7 cycles of tests.

The research presented in this article is based on a strategic approach to a rural area in the mountainous region of Romania and is underwritten by specialists in the economy of mountainous regions in order to elaborate relevant solutions to complex problems relating to sustainable development. In essence, the research underlines and promotes the particularities of performing research for the identification and valuation of endogenous resources, that is, creating relevant strategic options for the durable development of the mountainous region, centered on the renewal of economic activities related to the existent endogenous resources, by using methods, work techniques, and instruments of strategic analysis. These factors are subordinate to the process of harmonization to the requirements of community development and environmental protection according to the new strategy for the development of the European Union 2020 (European Green Pact). This pact also emphasizes the necessity of involving the different factor categories of local accountability, promotion, activation, and the development of specific economic activities of different local contexts of sustainability. The research methodology used involves a case study whose complexity necessitated the use of quality and quantity research methods in order to underline specific elements of the rural area in the Romanian mountainous region. Specifically, we used a strategic diagnosis of the Romanian mountainous region using the PESTEL and SWOT models. In order to have relevant strategic options available, the continuity of research was achieved through the use of SOR analysis, creating a problem tree and an objectives tree.
