General procedure for synthesis of compounds 20-22. Sodium hydride (60% suspension in oil, 88 mg, 2.2 mmol) was added to a suspension of imidazophenazine (1 mmol) in 20 mL of dioxane. The mixture was stirred for 30 min, then 2-chloro-N,N-diethylethan-1-amine (320 mg, 2.4 mmol) was added. The mixture was stirred at reflux for 48 h. After completion of the reaction, the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure, the residue was suspended in a saturated NaCl solution and extracted with dichloromethane (4×100 mL). The organic fractions were combined and dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, after which the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure. The resulting residue was separated by column chromatography on silica gel (eluent CH2Cl2, CH3OH 20:1).
