Scientists observe, discover, justify and eventually share their findings with the scientific community. Dissemination is an integral aspect of scientific discovery since discoveries which go unnoticed have no or little impact on science. Today, peer-review is part of this process of scientific dissemination as it contributes proactively to the quality of a scientific article. As the numbers of scientific journals and scientific articles published therein are increasing steady, processes such as the single-blind or double-blind peer review are facing a near collapse situation. In fact, these traditional forms of reviewing have reached their limits and, because of this, are also increasingly considered as unfair, sloppy, superficial and even biased. In this manuscript we propose forms of Post Publication Public Peer Review (P4R) as valuable alternatives to the traditional blind peer review system. We describe how the journal Sci has explored such an approach and provide first empirical evidence of the benefits and also challenges such a P4R approach is facing.

We have studied Juniperus oxycedrus subsp. badia in the central and southern Iberian Peninsula. Here, the macrobioclimate ranges from Mediterranean-pluviseasonal-oceanic and Mediterranean-pluviseasonal-continental, thermotype from thermomediterranean and supramediterranean. The relevés were taken following the Braun-Blanquet phytosociological methodology. A statistical treatment was applied to establish a separation among Juniperus communities. To understand the presence of Juniperus communities in territories dominated by species of the genus Quercus, we applied the formula of Thornthwaite to calculate potential evapotranspiration. The general cluster analysis clearly separates two groups of plant communities and separates the different associations in each group. All plant communities growing on rocky crests and in steeply extreme sloping areas are significantly influenced by the soil. The Ombroclimatic Index does not explain the presence of plant communities influenced by substrate: so, we propose a new Ombroedaphoxeric Index which explains the presence of the Juniperus communities in territories with a thermotype ranging from the thermo to the supramediterranean belt. The areas of distribution of Juniperus species are expanding due to the spread of rocky areas: this phenomenon causes a rise in edaphoxerophilous areas and a decrease in climatophilous one. We propose four new plant associations and with this update on their structures and floristic compositions, it is possible to make an efficient form of conservation in both territories studied (Spain and Portugal) with specific cross-border-cooperation projects.

The aim of this article is to shed some light on ‘black open access’ model, that still remains poorly understood and largely neglected in the literature, despite being widely adopted in practice. I give an overview of the historical development of black OA and its most important projects: Sci-Hub and Library Genesis. Arguments are provided for why the term ‘black OA’ is misleading and the term ‘RGB OA’ (red, green and blue) would better describe a diverse landscape of open access projects that emerged after 2001. While practical approaches towards OA evolved dramatically in the past 20 years, theoretical discussion is still operating the same two-color scheme of ‘green’ and ‘gold’ open access from BOAI declaration of 2001: novel approaches are either not recognized as OA at all or are neglected as ‘black’. A new and more inclusive OA declaration might be needed to account for greater diversity of approaches.

Fatal motorcycle accidents on- and off-road continue to be overlooked in the literature. Research is scant on morbidity and mortality due to neck injury, which leaves patients and their families debilitated chronically. Great Lakes EMS Inc. conducted a 10-year retrospective case study, which highlighted that motocross riders who do not wear a neck brace are at an 89% higher risk of a critical cervical spine injury; highly unstable cervical spinal fractures have a sustainably higher risk of morbidity and mortality. Proposed mechanisms of motocross neck braces displace the forces on the neck onto the helmet of the rider to provide a smooth distribution of forces, whereas lack of neck brace use places riders at risk for upper cervical spine fractures such as Jefferson fractures, Hangman's fractures, and Odontoid fractures. Further, evidence suggests the use of back protectors may increase the risk of thoracic and upper spine injuries during a motorcycle crash. The limited data on this topic continues to be a challenge, as there is a lack of understanding of the nature of these injuries, which are likely preventable with proper neck protection.

Spondyloptosis is a condition where there is complete dislocation of L5 over sacrum. It is a form of spinal dislocation in which one spinal segment is lodged in the anterior or posterior space of another or advanced spondylolisthesis [1]. Treatment is usually spinal fusion depending on the level of lesion [2]. This clinical case is of a 15 year old male with a history of fall from auto-rickshaw followed by a blunt trauma from a heavy iron rod falling over his abdomen. There was no history of loss of consciousness, but the patient had an excruciating pain over back immediately after the incident. Patient is now paraplegic with loss of sensation below L5 along with loss bladder and bowel control since the time of injury. The T1 weighted MRI of spine revealed grade 5 anterior lysthesis of L5 over S1 level with complete spinal cord transaction. The patient was operated to restore the vertebral alignment with pedicle screws and rods. After 3 months, patient is now treated for neuro-musculoskeletal , genitourinary and genitointestinal function with biofeedback, pelvic floor exercises and timed voiding [3]. When a patient has issues with urine retention, Valsalva manoeuvres, Crede's method, suprapubic tapping, and anal stretching are employed to help them void more effortlessly [4].

It scrutinizes the prevailing state of foreign language instruction within the academic curriculum, positing strategic interventions and recommendations for the development of a robust agricultural foreign language talent cultivation framework. The treatise accentuates the criticality of cultivating a multifaceted agricultural talent pool proficient in foreign languages, advocating for a "professional+foreign language" model that facilitates international dialog within China's Agri-Sci-Tech industry and bolsters the creation of globally recognized brands. Moreover, the cultivation of a "foreign language+professional" composite talent model is posited as a transformative solution to the existing impasse in foreign language education in China, offering a novel pathway for educational innovation and global competitiveness within the agricultural domain.
