Abstract

Dissemination of new ideas of research leading to innovation has a decisive impact on the development of an innovative cluster, in terms of both its performance and for the re-engineering of the innovative system in order to increase its competitiveness. The relevant usefulness of social network analysis for the knowledge spillovers and spread of innovative ideas is ensured by clarifying, counseling and management support of decision-making structures of innovative clusters. Social Network Analysis (SNA) , clarifies the structural relationships of the innovation network, such as delimiting the position and the role that groups of competence play in ensuring the success of activities the innovative cluster performs. The analysis carried out in this paper is based on a study of the project ‚’’Smart Cities’’, proposed by an innovative cluster from Romania .The academic members of the cluster are analysed as groups of competence, who can establish the Center of knowledge transfer-which will be an new structure within the cluster fostering ‘’Smart Cities’’ Concept in the innovation cluster.
