We show that if the quadratic twist family of a given elliptic curve over F_q[t] with char(F_q) > 5 has an element whose Neron model has a multiplicative reduction away from infinity, then the average p-Selmer rank is p+1 in large q-limit for almost all primes p.

The annual demand for fibres continues to rise worldwide. Consequently, more and more fibres must be produced to meet this demand, most of which are melt-spun polymeric man-made fibres. [1] Smooth filaments made of polymers are mainly used for technical applications in industry. For use in clothing or home textiles, for example, a texturing process is used to give the filaments a crimp and thus a feel like that of natural fibres. In this state, they can be processed together with natural fibres and used in textiles. Partially oriented yarns (POY) are of great importance in tex-turing. The yarns are mainly crimped with the help of the so-called false-twist texturing process (FTTP). [2] Since POY accounts for about 60 % of the melt-spun filament yarn produced world-wide, the FTTP is the most important texturing process in the textile industry [3]. In this paper, the main components of false-twist texturing (FTT) machines are explained along with the state of the art and research for each component and its influence on the process. Relevant patents are dis-cussed as well as process optimisation techniques, innovative polymers and yarn types recently used in FTT, followed by a conclusion and an outlook for the process.

This letter solves an open question of paper spring risen by Yoneda (2019). Universal scaling laws of a paper spring are proposed by using both dimensional analysis and data fitting. It is found that spring force obeys power square law of spring extension, however strong nonlinear to the total twist angle. Without doing any additional works, we have successfully generalize the scaling laws for Poisson ratio 0.3 to the materials with an arbitrary Poisson's ratio with the help of dimensional analysis.

Bending pipe is a common component of long distance pipeline. Accurately understanding the flow law of hydrate particles in elbow pipe is of great significance for optimizing pipeline design, improving production efficiency of gas transmission pipeline and ensuring pipeline safety. Taking the flow of hydrate particles in a Bending pipe as the object of study, the spiral flow attenuation and hydrate particle deposition under different bending pipe angles, different rate of bending pipe to diameter, different Reynolds number and different torsion were studied by numerical simulation method. The results show that the larger the swirl number, the higher the spiral flow intensity. When the fluid enters the bending pipe, the Angle of the bending pipe is larger, the torsional rate is smaller, and the Reynolds number is larger, the swirl number is larger, the intensity of the swirl flow is stronger, and the swirl number is larger at the same position. However, the larger the bending pipe to diameter ratio, the greater the change of the total swirl number and the weaker the strength at outflow, but the slower the change of swirl number, indicating that the spiral flow attenuation is slower. The larger the bending pipe Angle, the larger the bending pipe diameter rate, the smaller the torsion rate and the larger the Reynolds number, the smaller the deposition rate of the particles after flowing through the pipe. The results show that the spiral flow strength can be maintained in a proper way to reduce the deposition and ensure the safety of the conveying process.

We consider open non-twist Hamiltonian systems represented by an area-preserving two-dimensional map describing incompressible planar flows in the reference frame of a propagating wave, and possessing exits through which map orbits can escape. The corresponding escape basins have a fractal nature that can be revealed by the so-called basin entropy, a novel concept developed to quantify final-state uncertainty in dynamical systems. Since the map considered violates locally the twist condition, there is a shearless barrier that prevents global chaotic transport. In this paper we show that it is possible to determine the shearless barrier breakup by considering the variation of the escape basin entropy with a tunable parameter.

This paper reports the overall thermal performance of a cylindrical parabolic concentrating solar water heater (CPCSWH) with inserting nail type twisted tape (NTT) in the copper absorber tube for the nail twist pitch ratios 4.787, 6.914 and 9.042 respectively. The experiments are conducted for a constant volumetric water flow rate and during the time period 9:00 h to 15:00 h. The useful heat gain, hourly solar energy collected and hourly solar energy stored of this solar water heater are found higher for nail twist pitch ratio 4.787. The above said parameters are found to be a peak at noon and observed to follow the path of variation of solar intensity. At the starting of the experiment, the value of charging efficiency is observed to be maximum. Whereas the maximum value of instantaneous efficiency and overall thermal efficiency are observed at noon. The key finding is that the nail twist pitch ratio enhances the overall thermal performance of the CPCSWH.

The global textile sector, pivotal to economic development, significantly contributes to environmental degradation, prompting a shift towards sustainable raw material sources. Embracing circular economy principles, this industry is exploring the valorization of agricultural by-products. This study introduces an innovative approach to repurposing mango waste into valuable textile fibers, a byproduct of the fruit processing industry, predominantly generated during juice and jam production. The focus is on the lignocellulosic constituents of mango waste, specifically the peel, seed, and fibrous material, traditionally considered as refuse. Previous research has predominantly utilized mango peel in pectin extraction for food applications, whereas the potential of seed and fibrous content remains underexplored. This investigation endeavors to transform these fibrous by-products into high-value materials suitable for textile manufacturing. The process involved washing, drying, and comprehensive physicochemical characterization of mango fibers, emphasizing lignin quantification, revealing a composition of 12.2% lignin. An experimental design was employed to elucidate the impact of variables such as liquid-to-solid ratio, reaction duration, and sodium hydroxide concentration on lignin dissolution through alkaline hydrolysis. Optimal conditions—10% NaOH concentration, 30 mL/g liquid-to-solid ratio over six hours—achieved an 83% reduction in lignin content. The resulting fibers exhibited properties akin to conventional natural fibers, including a favorable aspect ratio indicative of their suitability for textile applications. A subsequent softening process using propylene glycol enhanced the fibers' spinability, producing a durable, textured fabric ideal for eco-conscious fashion applications, including bags, footwear, and accessories. This research demonstrates the feasibility of converting mango waste into a textile-worthy material and underscores the importance of waste revalorization in promoting sustainability within the circular economy framework.
