The algorithmic complexity vulnerability (ACV) that may lead to denial of service attacks greatly disrupts the security and availability of applications, and due to the widespread use of third-party libraries, its impact may be amplified through the software supply chain. The existing work in the field is dedicated to abstract loop or iterative patterns and fuzzing the entire application to discover algorithm complexity vulnerabilities, but they still face efficiency and effectiveness issues. Our research focuses on: (1) Proposing a representation and extraction method for code features related to algorithmic complexity vulnerabilities, helping analysts quickly understand program logic; (2) Providing a new ACV detecting model, focusing on the spatial complexity anomalies caused by deep recursion structures, and proposing a new filtering method; (3) Aiming at the difficulty of efficiently generating complex-data-type-related payloads using existing symbol execution techniques, a call-chain-guided payload construction method is proposed. We tested third-party components in the open-source Java Maven Repository, identified many unexposed vulnerabilities and 8 of them received CVE (Common Vulnerabilities & Exposures) identifiers, and demonstrated that our method can discover more algorithmic complexity vulnerabilities compared to existing tools with better performance.

Dredging is a common technique for managing eutrophication problems in waters, reducing the accumulation of pollutants by removing sediments from the bottom of water bodies. However, dredging can cause complex impacts on lake ecosystems, and it is crucial to understand benefits and mechanisms for environments. In this paper, the dredged and undredged areas in the Caohai portion of Dianchi Lake were studied to analyze the effects of dredging on nitrogen-phosphorus transport and conversion and changes in nitrogen-phosphorus morphology content and its mechanisms by comparing the nitrogen-phosphorus morphology content, percentage; nitro-gen-phosphorus ratio, and release contribution of the two areas. It was found that the ratio of sta-bilized nitrogen (SN) to stabilized phosphorus (SP) in the dredged area was lower than that in the non-dredged area; the BD-P and TOC contents had a large turnaround at the 16-20 cm position of the sediment in the dredged area; and the main conclusions were that the dredging would disrupt the internal equilibrium of the lake system for many years, and in particular, it would have the greatest effect on the balance of the BD-P in the phosphorus forms of the sediment, and that the column cores of the dredged area from 0 to 16 cm might be newly accumulated sediments after the dredging project. However, with time, the distribution of nitrogen and phosphorus forms in the newly accumulated sediments will gradually reach a new equilibrium. In addition, dredging will also cause significant changes in the retention efficiency of nitrogen and phosphorus in the sediment, and the stable nitrogen and phosphorus forms will be released and transformed into unstable ni-trogen and phosphorus forms.

Cytosine (C) to uracil (U) RNA editing is one of the most important post-transcriptional processes, however exploring C-to-U editing events efficiently within the crop mitochondrial genome remains a challenge. An improving predictive RNA editor for crop mitochondrial genomes, iPReditor-CMG, was proposed, which was based on SVM, three common crop mitochondrial genomes and self-sequenced tobacco mitochondrial ATPase. After multi-combination feature extracting, high-dimension feature screening and multi-test independent predicting, the results showed that the average accuracy of intraspecific prediction was 0.85, and the highest value even up to 0.91, which outperformed the previous reference models. While the prediction accuracies were 0.78 between dicotyledons and no more than 0.56 between dicotyledons and monocotyledons, implying a possible similarity in C-to-U editing mechanisms among close relatives. The best model was finally identified with an independent test accuracy of 0.91 and an area under the curve of 0.88, and further suggested that five unreported feature sequences TGACA, ACAAC, GTAGA, CCGTT and TAACA were closely associated with the editing phenomenon. Multiple evaluation findings supported that the iPReditor-CMG could be effectively applied to predict crop mitochondrial editing sites, which may contribute to insight into their recognition mechanisms and even other post-transcriptional events in crop mitochondria.
