This research aims to explore the complex interplay between supply chain resilience (SCR), digital supply chain (DSC), and sustainability, focusing on the moderating influence of supply chain dynamism. The goal is to understand how these elements interact within the framework of contemporary supply chain management and how they collectively contribute to enhancing sustainability outcomes. The sample size is 300 CEOs and managers. The study approach integrates quantitative research methods. Structural equation modeling (SEM) is utilized to quantitatively analyze the direct and indirect effects of SCR and DSC on sustainability. The numerous surveys we conduct among supply chain ecosystem stakeholders provide a rich picture of practical implications and contextual nuances. In sum, our early findings generally support a positive relationship between SCR and sustainability in and of itself decrying the need for more resilient supply networks for sustainability. We further find the beneficial impact of digital technologies in promoting sustainability via enhancing environmental control and controlling for efficiency in supply chains. We also offer evidence to show that supply chain dynamism compounds the positive logic between SCR and DSC and sustainability. As a final word, it must be noted that our work speaks to the burgeoning Supply Chain Dynamism as moderator literature by examining the direct and contingent effects of SCR and DSC on not only performance but sustainability. By shedding light on the moderating role of dynamism, the study provides fresh insights into the multifaceted nature of supply chain management and sustainability practices. The study's findings enhance theoretical understanding by elucidating the synergistic effects of SCR, DSC, and sustainability in dynamic supply chain settings. It augments existing theoretical frameworks by integrating concepts of resilience, digitalization, and sustainability into a comprehensive model. Practical and economical, the research offers actionable guidance for organizations aiming to improve sustainability performance through resilient and digitally advanced supply chains. By acknowledging the role of supply chain dynamism, managers can tailor strategies to manage disruptions effectively and leverage digital innovations. Economically, adopting sustainable practices can result in cost savings and competitive advantages. The research emphasizes the importance of aligning supply chain strategies with sustainability goals to drive long-term value and societal impact.

Procurement plays a central and defining role in the efficiency of supply chains. In recent years, the understanding and practice of procurement management have changed significantly due to increasing emphasis on and demand for agility and sustainability within supply chain management systems. Meanwhile, traditional supply chain systems, characterized by siloed processes, limited visibility, and inefficiencies due to manual interventions, can no longer cope with the current dynamic market conditions. Besides, the increasing requirements of sustainability, ethical sourcing, and environmental impact have intensified, making more responsible, transparent, and traceable procurement practices unnegotiable requirements for modern systems. In this paper, we examine the potential of emerging technologies and innovations such as blockchain, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things (IoT) in filling these gaps within the supply chain systems of enterprises in the US. The study employs a comprehensive review of relevant literature and case studies to discover and provide insights on how these technologies can improve procurement processes, optimize resource allocation and utilization, and improve sustainability. The findings of this study highlight the need for stakeholders to embrace technological advancements to effectively navigate the dynamic landscape of supply chain management.

The global movement of inputs, raw materials, products, and the marketing of products requires the use of supply chains. Green logistics refers to the set of policies and measures aimed at reducing the environmental impacts generated by logistics activities. The traditional supply chain has a certain inability to adapt to the rules agreed in Coop 15. The Green Supply Chain deals with the distribution flows of goods with a view to generating low environmental impact. The Green Supply Chain (GSC) involves aspects of reducing negative impacts throughout the logistics chain, from raw material suppliers, production to the distribution of the product to the customer. In this way, this article seeks to identify the factors that generate negative impacts in the traditional Supply Chain, thus helping to decarbonize it, and create a path for the development of the GSC and thus avoid interruptions in the distribution flow due to not meeting environmental targets. The main problem in decarbonizing the Supply Chain is its difficulty in complying with the rules agreed by the nations in COOP 15. To this end, a systematic literature review was carried out based on the available literature. Based on various articles and books, the parameters that define a Green Supply Chain and the factors that generate environmental impacts in conventional chains were identified. As a result, it was possible to verify a positive relationship between the carbon emission reduction factors that are linked to the supply chain performance factors found in the literature. Of the factors relating to the decarbonization of supply chains, some were more clearly related, such as reducing carbon emissions, reducing environmental risks and the ability to operate using new technologies. Future research could build on the limitations of this study.

This paper applied case study research to design architectures for green-field supply chain integration. The integration design is based on a case study of a supply chain integration of 5 companies, operating in different, but supply chain complimenting industry sectors. The case study research is applied to design and validate the architectures in a real world scenario. The supply chain integration architectures enable the conversion of individual into integrated strategies. The architectures are categorised and the process develops into a conceptual system for identifying the correlations between individual participants’ strategic areas of interest and the integrated supply chain areas of interest. The novelty of this paper is a conceptual system for green-field supply chain integration architectures, which can be applied in real world by supply chain practitioners.

Integrating advanced air mobility (AAM) into the logistics of high-value electronic commodities can enhance efficiency and promote sustainability. The objective of this study is to optimize the logistics network for high-value electronics by integrating AAM solutions, specifically using heavy-lift cargo drones for middle-mile transport and using the mostly rural and small urban U.S. state of North Dakota as a case study. The analysis utilized geographic information system (GIS) and spatial optimization models to strategically assign underutilized airports as multimodal freight hubs to facilitate the shift from long-haul trucks to middle-mile air transport. Key findings demonstrate that electronics, because of their high value-to-weight ratio, are ideally suited for air transport. Comparative analysis shows that transport by drones can reduce the average cost per ton by up to 60% compared to traditional trucking. Optimization results indicate that a small number of strategically placed logistical hubs can reduce average travel distances by more than 13% for last-mile deliveries. Cost analyses demonstrate the viability of drones for middle-mile transport, especially on lower-volume rural routes, highlighting their efficiency and flexibility. The study emphasizes the importance of utilizing existing infrastructure to optimize the logistics network. By replacing truck traffic with drones, AAM can mitigate road congestion, reduce emissions, and extend infrastructure lifespan. These insights have critical implications for supply chain managers, shippers, urban planners, and policymakers, providing a decision support system and a roadmap for integrating AAM into logistics strategies.

The focus of this paper is on supply chain strategy formulation. A conceptual theory approach is used for investigating and identifying the relationship between multiple elements, dimensions, forces and factors that influence and affect the supply chain strategy formulation in Greenfield context, specific to the slate mining industry. The research study involved secondary data review and series of 20 qualitative interviews, followed by 2 group discussions, one with mining and transportation experts external to the supply chain and one group discussion with supply chain internal experts. Through critical analysis, a number of problems emerge and the process of addressing these problems, results in a new framework for evaluating the relationship between business and supply chain strategy, specific to Greenfield project and integration design context.

Green supply chain management (GSCM) is fundamentally growing as a key component of sustainability, owing to its ability to improve supply chain competitiveness and performance within firms. The body of literature on GSCM within the manufacturing sector in developing countries such as South Africa is still limited. The study examined the relationships between GSCM practices, dynamic capabilities, and supply chain performance in the South African manufacturing sector. The study was quantitative, involving a sample of 402 supply chain professionals drawn from the manufacturing sector across the four provinces of the country. Hypotheses were tested using structural equation modelling based on the SMART PLS technique. Eco-design Green distribution and green training impacted positively on dynamic capabilities, the latter of which in turn is linked to improved agility, reliability, and reduced supply chain costs. The study validates the importance of GSCM as a driver of dynamic capabilities and performance in manufacturing environments within developing countries such as South Africa.

Today’s export-based manufacturers face the need to implement green supply chains more efficiently in order to overcome environmental barriers in increasingly competitive export markets and to improve export performance. This study examines the structural relationship between environmental collaboration, green innovation capacity, and performance based on the findings of previous studies in order to identify the factors affecting the green supply chain management (GSCM) performance of Korean export-based manufacturers. The study finds that environmental collaboration in the green supply chain environment is an important driver of green innovation capacity for export-based Korean manufacturers. It also finds that green innovation capacity has a positive effect on export performance through environmental performance. This study establishes a theoretical basis for the systematic study of the structural mechanisms of green supply chains and suggests strategic directions for export-based manufacturing firms’ successful GSCM implementation.

This paper developed a new theory for supply chain architecture, and engineering design that enables integration of the business and supply chain strategies. The architecture starts with individual supply chain participants and derives insights into the complex and abstract concept of green-field integration design. The paper presented a conceptual system for depicting the interactions between business and supply chain strategy engineering. The system examines the decisions made when engineering the business strategy, with regards to the supply chain design. The system derived with a new understanding of how strategies are integrated, and what are the implications for engineering successful strategies. The study revealed that supply chain design is not considered in great detail before architecting the business strategies. Thus, companies consequentially experience supply chain problems that are likely to be detrimental to the growth potentials. The paper also derived with the findings that proactive and pre-emptive involvement of supply chain participants in the strategy engineering process, would lead to a more robust strategic design.

This paper explores in depth the mechanism of enterprise digital capability effects in supply chain digital development by reconstructing the supply chain cooperation capabilities (digital diffusion capability and digital collaborative capability). We use the questionnaire data covering 272 Chi-nese manufacturing enterprises and apply a structural equation model to test the hypothesis. The results show that enterprise digital capability does not directly have a significant impact on sup-ply chain digitalization, and the supply chain cooperation capabilities play mediation role be-tween enterprise digital capability and supply chain digitalization. The results are robust due to we thoroughly consider the action boundary of enterprise capabilities, and verify the systematic requirements of supply chain digitalization and the high-order of enterprise digital capability. These provide a theoretical basis for enterprises to promote the digital transformation of supply chain through digital technology.

Resilience is a particularly important quality for supply chains in this turbulent environment. Resilience in supply chain is the ability to retain, resume, and recover operations after an intense destructive incident. One of the strategic solutions for managing supply chain disruptions is to establish collaboration and strategic alliances in order to achieve competitive advantage. Therefore, given the increasing publication of articles in areas of strategic alliances and supply chain resilience, it is a good opportunity to review these articles, identify gaps in the current literature, demonstrate links between the two areas, and provide suggestions for future research. For these purposes, a bibliometric analysis has been performed on literature available on the Web of Science database. The distribution of articles based on year and country, influential journals, research areas, authors, affiliations, keywords, citations, and reference co-citation analysis are discussed. Results indicate that studies about strategic alliances, meant to increase resilience, are growing in areas such as “Management”, “Operations research”, “Management science”, and “Business”. Furthermore, the sources could be categorized in five clusters; namely “From knowledge concept to value creation”, “Internal and external relationships”, “Logistics and supply chain performance”, “Intellectual capital and strategic management”, and “Critical success factors and alliances”. This article can be useful for both practitioners and academics who explore the topic of strategic alliances and resilience in supply chain and also offers managers the opportunity to overcome supply chain disruptions and negative consequences of risks by becoming familiar with the key concepts of resilience. The persistence of businesses and supply chains is guaranteed through communicating with partners and even competitors in the light of alliance according to the findings of this research. Managers can pay attention to the integration of the supply chain to improve resilience and increase collaboration between suppliers and customers. Given the research results, strategic alliances can be noted in expanding organizational entrepreneurship, and shaping strategic collaboration networks in light of strategic alliances.

The findings provide valuable insights for business leaders seeking to enhance marketing effectiveness through effective SCC strategies.

This study aims to summarize the literature on sustainable global supply chain management so that researchers and practitioners can see the trends in the area in a single place. Systematic literature review (SLR) or Content analysis is used as a methodology of this literature review, studies that are published within the time frame of 2010 to 2020 are included in this literature. Dimensions to analyze each article includes; year of publications, methodology of research, data collection type, unit of analysis, industry, a country in which data is being collected, respondents’ types, the theory that is used in the study, dimensions of the sustainability and finally the purpose of study either it is to test the already existing theory or building up a new theory. I found that sustainable global supply chain management is an emerging field and there is potential in the area for researchers to explore the area.

One of the most remarkable features in the 20th century was the digitalization of technical progress, which changed the output of companies worldwide and became a defining feature of the century. The growth of information technology systems and the implementation of new technical advances, which enhance the integrity, agility and long-term organizational performance of the supply chain, can distinguish a digital supply chain from other supply chains. For example, the Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled information exchange and Big Data analysis might be used to regulate the mismatch between supply and demand. In order to assess contemporary ideas and concepts in the field of data analysis in the context of supply chain management, this literary investigation has been decided. The research was conducted in the form of a comprehensive literature review. In the SLR investigation, a total of 71 papers from leading journals were used. SLR has found that data analytics integrate into supply chain management can have long-term benefits on supply chain management from the input side, i.e., improved strategic development, management and other areas.

Pharmaceutical companies use crisis management as a vital technique to lessen the effects of catastrophes. In this study, the author highlighted the significance of supply chain management for crisis management in the pharmaceutical industry. The study concludes by discussing the role that supply chain management plays in crisis management and offering pharmaceutical businesses advice on how to run their supply chains in an emergency. We conclude after conducting a thorough analysis of the literature review and regress research. These are actions that pharmaceutical organizations can take to strengthen their supply chain management skills and enhance their crisis readiness: Identifying possible supply chain risks through routine risk evaluations; Creating backup strategies in case the supply chain is disrupted; Establishing procedures to guarantee a smooth and efficient supply of medications in an emergency; and Collaborating with vendors and other stakeholders to increase the resilience of the supply chain. The pharmaceutical industry is critical to healthcare, providing safe and effective medicines to patients. Supply chain management is essential for maintaining the flow of medicines during crises. Proactive risk assessment, backup plans, teamwork, and efficient communication are all critical for crisis management in the pharmaceutical industry, particularly in supply chain management. In India, inadequate transportation infrastructure leads to a significant expense for pharmaceutical businesses. To mitigate negative effects, such as reduced healthcare access and insurance coverage, the study suggests implementing multi-echelon, closed-loop green supply chain models. These strategies aim to minimize total costs and ensure efficient resource management. To improve the resilience of pharmaceutical and consumable medical equipment during crises, policymakers should integrate modern technologies and consider business complexity, economic development, intense competition, and changing customer needs. The relationship between manufacturers, distributors, prescribers, and insurance organizations as purchasers should also be considered.

There are two purposes for this article. The first purpose is to perform a reiew of previous research on global supply chain management (GSCM) principles that can adapt and survive adversity, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. The second purpose is to put forth a conceptual framework for the GSCM that is sustainable in the event of future turbulence similar to that experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic. With regard to the issues raised, the article posits the following questions. Is there, perhaps, a sustainable post-COVID-19 pandemic GSCM? Can the COVID-19 pandemic-related international logistics system (GSC) turbulences be predicted with certainty using these sustainable post-COVID-19 pandemic GSCM concepts? Putting it all together, the paper concludes that, while debatable, sustainable GSCM is feasible and can be accomplished utilizing JIT, supply chain mitigation, and supply chain visibility, as demonstrated by the manufacturing firms referenced in the article.

Sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) represents a critical strategy for the electronics industry to balance economic objectives with environmental and social responsibility across complex global production networks. This multiple case study analysis investigates SSCM integration within leading Korean electronics manufacturers Samsung, LG, and Hyundai. In-depth qualitative data, focus groups, and sustainability report analysis reveals the policies, practices, results and implementation barriers related to incorporating sustainability criteria across procurement, manufacturing, distribution and recycling functions. Findings show sustainability considerations increasingly driven by cost, risk, reputational and regulatory factors, with vertical coordination initiatives helping transfer knowledge to assist suppliers on compliance and emissions reductions. Yet substantial obstacles persist around monitoring, coordination, transparency and technical capabilities, especially amongst lower tiers. The paper discusses how common reporting standards, ethical sourcing certification and partnerships can accelerate electronics supply chain sustainability. By mapping integration achievements and gaps, this study informs managerial best practices and policy reforms toward promoting socially and ecologically responsible models for Korea's vital export industry as it navigates rising stakeholder pressures.

This article makes a general analysis of the supply chain of photovoltaic systems in Colombia, taking as a starting point a conceptual base and the current situation of the country in this sector. This article especially will contemplate the non-interconnected areas (ZNI) to the electricity grid in the national, due to its complexity in the logistics issues. Likewise, the work performs a graphical representation of the stages and processes of the supply chain using a powerful-modeled tool such as the Petri Nets (PNs). Finally, it identifies some of the flaws in the operation and the joint of all the links of the logistic part and from there it is based the importance of the strategy of orientation to the supply chain (SCO) as a possible alternative to improve and to enhance the logistic processes of this type of systems.

In particular, we study the Route Optimization Problem, Demand Forecasting Problem, Risk Assessment and Anomaly Detection, Supplier Section and Procurement Optimization, Inventory Optimization Problem, and Green Supply Chain Problem. The study helps us the expand the use the GNN and gives daily supply chain management a boost.

Cultural norms and values deeply influence both intra-organizational dynamics and inter-organizational relationships within global supply chains. Organizational culture emerges as a pivotal determinant of supply chain integration success. Cultures characterized by transparency, trust, inclusivity, and a commitment to continuous improvement create environments conducive to effective cross-border collaboration. Conversely, organizations with conflicting or ambiguous cultural norms face challenges in aligning goals, fostering mutual understanding, and maintaining open communication channels with international partners. The study underscores the transformative role of digital technologies in enhancing supply chain management practices. Technologies such as blockchain, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things improve supply chain visibility, optimize operations, and enhance decision-making processes, strengthening resilience against disruptions. The adoption and integration of these technologies depend on organizational readiness, technological capabilities, and cultural acceptance within supply chain networks. Cultural factors influence the adoption pace, implementation strategies, and utilization patterns of digital technologies, emphasizing the need for strategic alignment between technological investments and cultural norms to maximize their potential benefits. Additive manufacturing (AM), commonly known as 3D printing, has emerged as a transformative technology in supply chain management (SCM). This abstract explores how AM influences various aspects of SCM, including inventory management, production processes, and logistics. By enabling on-demand production and reducing reliance on traditional manufacturing methods, AM minimizes inventory costs and enhances customization capabilities. It also facilitates localized production, which can reduce lead times and transportation costs. The integration of AM into SCM fosters greater flexibility and resilience, allowing businesses to respond more swiftly to market changes and disruptions. This study highlights both the opportunities and challenges associated with adopting AM, emphasizing the need for strategic adjustments to fully leverage its potential in modern supply chains.

This study explores the barriers and opportunities faced by women in supply chain leadership, a field traditionally dominated by men. Through in-depth interviews and thematic analysis, it uncovers the pervasive cultural and societal biases that undermine women's perceived competence and suitability for leadership roles. These biases, often rooted in deep-seated stereotypes, influence hiring and promotion decisions, creating significant obstacles for women. Structural and organizational barriers, such as the lack of formal diversity policies, flexible working arrangements, and adequate mentorship, further hinder women's career progression. The dual burden of professional and domestic responsibilities also disproportionately affects women, limiting their availability for work-related travel and extended hours, which are often required in supply chain roles. Despite these challenges, the study identifies several pathways to promote gender diversity in supply chain leadership. Organizational commitment to diversity and inclusion, flexible working policies, and comprehensive mentorship programs are crucial in supporting women's advancement. Education and professional development opportunities are essential in equipping women with the necessary skills for leadership roles. Additionally, fostering an inclusive corporate culture that values diverse perspectives and addresses discrimination is vital for creating a supportive environment. Broader societal and policy-level changes, such as government and industry initiatives promoting gender diversity, are also necessary. The integration of emerging areas like sustainability, entrepreneurship, emotional intelligence, marketing, and supplier relationship management offers new opportunities for women to contribute to the industry's evolution. By addressing these barriers and leveraging the identified opportunities, it is possible to create a more inclusive and equitable supply chain industry, benefiting both the industry and society.

This qualitative research study delves into the intricate dynamics of how organizations adapt to supply chain disruptions during crises, offering profound insights into the strategies, practices, and challenges encountered in enhancing supply chain agility. Through in-depth interviews with supply chain managers across diverse industries, key themes such as proactive risk management, technological integration, collaboration with supply chain partners, and adaptive leadership have emerged as crucial determinants of agility and resilience. Additionally, the study highlights the significance of organizational culture, effective communication, and external factors such as regulatory requirements and market dynamics in shaping supply chain agility. By embracing a holistic approach that integrates these multifaceted factors, organizations can bolster their capacity to anticipate, detect, and respond to disruptions, thereby maintaining or enhancing overall performance even in the face of uncertainty and complexity. The insights gleaned from this research are poised to inform theory development, guide managerial practice, and influence policy-making in the realm of supply chain management, equipping organizations with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate future disruptions successfully.

The present study is to address performance of the dairy supply chain and emphasizes the significance of reliability of the chain as a fundamental and critical attribute for fulfilling the safety requirements. In order to evaluate the performance of the dairy supply chain, the present study utilizes the reliability attribute, which is an essential and informative system performance indicator. The study considers not only the inputs and outputs but also internal activities and relationships between customers, manufacturers, and suppliers. To minimize calculations and resolve uncertainties and vagueness that may be experienced in the performance evaluation process, this study proposes the use of the Fuzzy Inference System (FIS) approach and evaluates the reliability at each level of the supply chain: supply, manufacturing, and distribution. Combining the reliability of different levels, the study finally calculates the reliability of the entire supply chain. The proposed methodology offers a practical approach for evaluating the reliability performance of a dairy supply chain and can be easily extended to other industries as well. To verify the proposed methodology, a real case in the Iranian dairy industry is chosen to be studied. Results indicate that the proposed methodology can effectively identify bottlenecks or weaknesses in the dairy supply chain and help develop effective strategies to address them. Analyzing factors influencing supply chain reliability can optimize operations, reduce costs, and improve the overall quality of dairy product quality delivered to consumers.

The current trend in supply chain development requires the application of new knowledge to meet the challenges posed by new technologies. One such technology is blockchain, which facilitates supply chain solutions through the use of innovative data transfer, storage and verification systems. However, the use of blockchain can be challenging for certain stakeholders, such as small carriers, who may lack the necessary technical expertise or access to the technology. In this paper, we explore the potential for engaging small carriers that provide services within the blockchain supply chain but face technological barriers. We identify the barriers and opportunities for these carriers to participate, focusing on a case study of a small carrier that transports temperature-sensitive cargo. In addition, we introduce in-vehicle temperature measurement for use in cold chains and propose an ecosystem that can benefit different stakeholder groups.

The world is facing an unprecedented socio-economic crisis caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). It is also spreading through the import and export food supply chains. The Chinese authorities have discovered the COVID-19 virus in various imported frozen meat packages. Traceability plays a vital role in food quality and food safety. The Internet of Things (IoT) provides solutions to keep an eye on environmental conditions, product quality, and product traceability. These solutions are traditionally based on the centralized architecture, which does not guarantee tamper-proof data sharing. The blockchain is an emerging technology that provides tamper-proof data sharing in real-time. This article presents Hyperledger Fabric-based blockchain use case and a quick reference guide to develop the blockchain network for tracking and tracing the supply chain to minimize the risk of COVID-19 in the frozen meat supply chain.

The paper's objectives are to identify the main benefits, limitations, and challenges facing using Blockchain technology in the Supply Chain Management (SCM). To explore the factors that affect the adoption and application of Blockchain technology in SCM. The study uses a systematic literature review methodology to analyze and compare selected related articles published between 2016 and 2022 on the usage of Blockchain technology in the SCM. Several studies showed that there are many benefits to using Blockchain technology in SCM such as enhanced security, confidentiality, traceability, transparency, data accuracy, privacy, efficiency, accountability, and trust. At the same time, there are many limitations and challenges like scalability, interoperability, legal (regulatory) issues, high implementation and maintenance costs, standardization and information, lack of trust in technology, high energy consumption, limited awareness, integration with current systems, and privacy. Blockchain technology has the potential to revolutionize various industries, but there are still several issues that need to be addressed to fully realize its potential. Understanding the benefits and difficulties of applying Blockchain technology in different industries, including the SCM, is essential in determining its effectiveness and the different strategies needed to assess its application and implementation.

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a widely recognized tool used to evaluate environmental impacts of a product or process, based on the environmental inventory database and bills of material. Data quality is one of the most significant factors affecting the analysis results. However, currently most datasets in inventory databases are generic i.e., they may represent material and energy flow of a process at market average, instead of a specific process used by a manufacturer. As a result, stockholders are unable to track their supply chain to find out the actual environmental impact from each supplier and to compare the environmental performance of alternative options. In this paper, we developed a new framework i.e., blockchain based LCA (BC-LCA), where block-chain technology is adapted to secure and transmit inventory data from upstream suppliers to downstream manufacturers. With BC-LCA, more specific data can be acquired along the supply chain in a real-time manner. Moreover, the availability, accuracy, privacy, and automatic update of inventory data can be improved. A case study is provided based on an industrial supply chain, to demonstrate the utilization of BC-LCA.

This article aims to serve as a guide for the construction of supply chain simulation models designed with a lean approach, using Promodel software. To achieve this, a supply chain was designed for a fictitious company located in the City of Celaya, Guanajuato and a set of suppliers located in different cities within the same State. It was used as a google tool to define the distances between each of the companies. As a final result, a representative model of a supply chain was obtained, as well as a methodology that allows the construction of lean supply chains regardless of the number of companies that comprise it. The effect of the variability in the delivery times between suppliers was incorporated into the simulation model, as well as an equation that calculates the pollution emissions of the vehicles that integrate the network that moves the products between the companies. With this work it is possible to represent networks of supply chains of real world companies, where the variability and contamination factor is included, to facilitate the decision making regarding the number of vehicles, inventory levels, quantities to be shipped, frequency in the shipments, etc. with the purpose of contaminating as little as possible and at the same time preventing interruptions in the supply chain using the least amount of resources possible.

‘‘Sustainable Supply Chain Management’’ (SSCM) has become a hot topic on which eminent researchers are working on every day. However, it is clear that we still observe in this field of research, an artistic vagueness on the fundamental differences between Sustainable Supply Chain Management and Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) Moreover, it is regrettable to note that previous researchers haven't yet thought about having a specific theory which can be applied to SSCM, the use of macro theories still being observed. In addition, we observe a lack of research in the oil and gas industry especially in Developing Countries when we know that this industry is the most lucrative and polluting. Therefore, this paper’s purpose consists to make a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of 38 papers published from 2005 to 2023 especially in oil and gas industry and in Developing Countries, in order to make a clear distinction between SSCM and GSCM while highlighting the practices related to them and at the same time, generating a united theory which will bring together the triple bottom line of the SSCM. As findings, the authors built a Conceptual Framework that applies the triple bottom line of the SSCM in oil and gas industry by demonstrating that GSCM which is more related to environmental issues and is a part of the SSCM. Therefore, in order to be more efficient and to have a great impact on their performances, Oil and gas companies should apply SSCM practices rather than GSCM practices which are very different from what is applied in Developed Countries because of certain barriers and pressures.

Risk modelling along with multi-objective optimization problems have been at theepicenter of attention for supply chain managers. In this paper, we introduce a datasetfor risk modelling in sophisticated supply chain networks based on formal mathematical models. We have discussed the methodology and simulation tools used to synthesize the dataset. Additionally, the underlying mathematical models are discussed in granular details along with providing directions to conducting statistical analyses or neural machine learning models. The simulation is performed using MATLAB ™Simulink and the models are illustrated as well.

This qualitative research investigates how supply chain innovations drive marketing differentiation in consumer goods companies. In a competitive global marketplace, firms are increasingly leveraging advanced supply chain management (SCM) practices to enhance operational efficiency and create distinctive market positions. The study explores five key supply chain innovations—digitalization, sustainability practices, predictive analytics, agile supply chain models, and collaborative partnerships—and their impact on marketing differentiation strategies. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 20 executives and managers from leading consumer goods companies, analyzing themes related to innovation adoption, challenges, and outcomes. Findings indicate that digital technologies such as IoT, AI, and blockchain are pivotal in improving supply chain visibility, optimizing inventory management, and enabling real-time decision-making, thereby supporting personalized customer experiences and agile responses to market dynamics. Sustainability practices, including sustainable sourcing and green logistics, emerge as critical drivers of brand reputation and consumer trust, aligning with growing consumer preferences for eco-friendly products. Predictive analytics facilitate better demand forecasting and pricing strategies, while agile supply chain models enhance flexibility and responsiveness in delivering products faster to market. Despite benefits, challenges include integrating innovations with legacy systems, managing resistance to change, and addressing data security concerns. Strategies for overcoming these barriers include leadership commitment, cross-functional collaboration, talent development, and strategic partnerships. By embracing these strategies and innovations, consumer goods companies can strengthen their competitive positioning, enhance customer satisfaction, and achieve sustainable growth in a rapidly evolving marketplace.

Digital technologies have changed the way supply chain operations are structured. In this article, we conduct systematic syntheses of literature on the impact of new technologies on supply chains and the related cyber risks. A taxonomic/cladistic approach is used for the evaluations of progress in the area of supply chain integration in the Industrial Internet of Things and Industry 4.0, with a specific focus on the mitigation of cyber risks. An analytical framework is presented, based on a critical assessment with respect to issues related to new types of cyber risk and the integration of supply chains with new technologies. This paper identifies a dynamic and self-adapting supply chain system supported with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) and real-time intelligence for predictive cyber risk analytics. The system is integrated into a cognition engine that enables predictive cyber risk analytics with real-time intelligence from IoT networks at the edge. This enhances capacities and assist in the creation of a comprehensive understanding of the opportunities and threats that arise when edge computing nodes are deployed, and when AI/ML technologies are migrated to the periphery of IoT networks.

This qualitative research explores consumer perceptions of supply chain responsiveness and its impact on brand loyalty within the apparel industry. The study investigates how consumers perceive supply chain practices such as reliability, agility, and sustainability, and examines their influence on brand loyalty decisions. Thirty participants, representing diverse demographics and purchasing behaviors, were interviewed to gather insights into their awareness, expectations, and experiences related to supply chain responsiveness. Findings reveal that consumers prioritize supply chain reliability, expecting brands to consistently deliver high-quality products, accurate sizing, and timely responses to market trends. Sustainability practices also emerged as a significant factor, with consumers favoring brands that demonstrate ethical sourcing and environmental responsibility. Technology plays a crucial role in enhancing supply chain responsiveness, as consumers value real-time updates, personalized experiences, and seamless transactions. Moreover, the study underscores the impact of supply chain disruptions on brand trust and loyalty, highlighting the importance of resilience and contingency planning in supply chain management. Brands that effectively navigate disruptions through agile strategies can enhance consumer trust and loyalty, even in challenging circumstances. Overall, this research contributes to understanding the intricate relationship between supply chain dynamics, consumer perceptions, and brand loyalty in the apparel industry. It offers practical implications for apparel brands seeking to enhance consumer satisfaction, differentiate themselves in a competitive market, and foster sustainable growth through strategic supply chain management.

Grain supply is the lifeblood of a country, and the stability of the supply chain is a crucial prerequisite for ensuring national grain security. This paper draws on the definition of resilience in physics and economics. It takes supply chain fracture resilience, impact resilience, and synergy resilience as the secondary indicators. It constructs a comprehensive evaluation indicator system of the grain supply chain resilience, measures the resilience indicator of China's grain supply chain from 1996 to 2021, and analyzes the role of supply, cost, exchange rate, and other external shocks in influencing the resilience of China's grain supply chain on this basis. The study found that the overall level of China's total grain supply chain resilience has been growing year by year and can be divided into three stages: low-level stabilization stage, continuous growth stage, and high-level stabilization stage. Grain supply chain fracture resilience has been growing steadily, grain supply chain impact resilience fluctuation is more obvious, and grain supply chain synergy resilience has been changing more gently. In the inquiry of the impact of external shocks on the resilience of China's grain supply chain, it was found that world grain exports and the RMB exchange rate have a significant positive impact on China's grain supply chain resilience level, while the international oil price has a significant negative impact. Based on this, the paper puts forward suggestions for ensuring stable production and supply in the grain market, improving the structure of foreign trade in grain, and actively coping with international commodity price shocks.

In contrast to its traditional form, in which large, powerful companies were solely and exclusively responsible for supplies, manufacturing, and distribution, the supply chain has undergone substantial change over the past half-century. Today, nearly all supply chain processes are outsourced, thanks to the efforts of innovative, modern companies. The degree of risk associated with contemporary supply chains is greater than the majority of supply chain managers acknowledge, according to an accumulation of studies, analysts, and news outlets. Vulnerabilities within the supply chain remain a significant challenge for numerous organizations. Inadequate management of these risks—which include, but are not limited to, natural disasters, acts of terrorism, cyber assaults, the credit crisis, pandemic scenarios, and war—could lead to significant declines in profitability, productivity, revenue, competitive advantage, and other metrics. Concerns regarding the risk assessment of the supply chain remain unresolved. The objective of this article is to present a risk evaluation framework that can be effectively implemented in the assessment of supply chain risks. This study makes a fundamental contribution to the body of knowledge by providing supply chain managers with a practical instrument for assessing their processes, irrespective of the mathematical underpinnings or the diverse variables employed in risk assessment. A case study from an automotive EMS production is used to compare the outcomes of multiple aggregation methods; the conclusions are then validated by risk and FMEA specialists from the same factory.

This qualitative research explores the integration of sustainability into procurement practices through the perspectives of supply chain practitioners. The study examines key challenges, strategies, and perceived benefits associated with sustainable procurement across diverse industries. Data were collected via semi-structured interviews with purposively sampled participants renowned for their expertise in procurement and sustainability. Thematic analysis revealed that while regulatory compliance, supplier engagement, and cost considerations pose significant challenges, strategies such as collaborative partnerships, embedding sustainability criteria into procurement contracts, and leveraging technology are pivotal in promoting sustainable procurement. Participants highlighted benefits including enhanced brand reputation, improved operational efficiencies, and strengthened stakeholder trust. Leadership commitment and organizational culture emerged as critical drivers of successful sustainable procurement initiatives, influencing employee engagement and organizational resilience. Looking forward, emerging trends such as circular economy principles and the integration of sustainability into corporate strategies are identified as transformative for future procurement practices. The study underscores the strategic importance of sustainability in enhancing organizational resilience, mitigating risks, and creating long-term economic, environmental, and social value. By addressing challenges, leveraging effective strategies, and embracing emerging trends, organizations can position themselves as leaders in sustainable procurement, contributing positively to global sustainability goals and gaining competitive advantage.

In recent years, Blockchain has been favorably adopted in the Supply Chain industry as it provides guaranteed transparency and traceability. The flexibility of Blockchain allows different applications to enable to exchange information; a significant middleweight layer is responsible for information transfer in the Agricultural Sector. The products that are manufactured at a global level in the agriculture industry are improved in safety, validation of some criteria, and quality. In the agriculture industry, the increasing number of complications associated with food safety and impurity risks needs high-level effective traceability solutions that act as necessary quality management tools to make sure satisfactory safety of crops. The agricultural supply chain today has complex ecosystems, consisting of several stockholders to authenticate criteria which are important like crop development stages, monitoring and validation, and compliance with the quality standard. In this proposed research, a systematic literature review will be done that includes smart contracts, Blockchain, and business transactions exclusively for crop production traceability across the agricultural and food supply chain. By using Blockchain in the agriculture sector, productivity, consistency, safety, reliability, and advanced security are increased. All transactions are kept and recorded on the immutable record of Blockchain associates with a decentralized system. Thus, it provides more traceability and clarity in the agriculture system in asafe, trustworthy, and effective way. A systematic literature review is thus enforced to classify the papers which are selected by the following classification: crop traceability, contribution type, research type, and their approach. For this systematic review, the papers which extracted are classified according to defined criteria. The purpose of this study is to fill the gap by collecting and analyzing studies available within the literature aiming to firstly, gain complete insight on the integration of Blockchain in the agriculture sector. Secondly, provide a summary of the present state of research on this area and identify gaps in existing studies. To achieve this aim an SLR was conducted. The findings of this SLR are discussed and researchers were provided with suggestions on possible directions for future research.

Rice is the grain feeds more than half of the world population. It is an important staple food provides twenty percent of the calories consumed worldwide. Food safety affects the health of consumers. Establishing an effective traceability system is one of the primary measures to protect rice quality and food safety. Blockchain-based traceability system has the characteristics of data tamper-proofing, decentralization, and co-governance. This paper proposed a rice traceability scheme based on blockchain technology that selects the critical nodes in the rice industry chain to construct a blockchain network to achieve transparent data sharing. It is meaningful for both enterprises and consumers. It can let enterprises get the real quality information of rice and related raw materials. Consumers can get the true information of rice and rice products to buy safe and healthy food. The scheme is proved feasible by simulating the traceability of the rice supply chain.

The qualitative research on the influence of supply chain risk management (SCRM) on marketing strategies during economic uncertainty explores the complex interplay between these two critical areas. Conducted through in-depth interviews with industry professionals across various sectors, the study examines how organizations manage supply chain risks and adapt their marketing strategies in response to challenges such as natural disasters, geopolitical tensions, economic downturns, and pandemics. The findings reveal that these risks significantly impact marketing efforts by causing supply shortages, delays, increased costs, and demand fluctuations, necessitating rapid adjustments in promotional activities, pricing strategies, and communication with customers. Key strategies for integrating SCRM with marketing include leveraging technology for real-time supply chain monitoring, building strong supplier relationships, diversifying supply sources, and enhancing communication and collaboration between supply chain and marketing teams. These practices enable organizations to enhance their resilience and responsiveness, ensuring that marketing strategies are aligned with the evolving realities of the supply chain. The study also identifies challenges such as organizational silos, lack of cross-functional collaboration, resistance to change, and limited technological capabilities, which can hinder effective integration. Addressing these barriers through fostering collaboration, investing in technology, and promoting change management is essential for achieving successful integration. The outcomes of this integration include improved supply chain resilience, enhanced customer satisfaction, increased marketing agility, and a stronger competitive position. The research underscores the importance of a holistic and adaptive approach to integrating SCRM with marketing strategies, providing valuable insights for organizations seeking to navigate economic uncertainty and sustain their growth in a rapidly changing environment.

The degree of collaboration among supply chain partners and the structure of the network are important determinants of the level of satisfaction customers derive from the products or services. However, the effects of these dimensions on customer satisfaction at the downstream section of the supply chain remain under-researched in Nigeria. This study precisely examined the effects of collaboration and supply chain design on customers’ satisfaction at the downstream end of the chain using Ekiti State as study area. The study employed descriptive survey design with the use of structured Likert scale questionnaire administered to 381 retailers of noodles in Ekiti State. The research hypotheses were analysed using simple linear regression as statistical technique with the aid of SPSS version 22.0. At the end of the study, it was observed that both collaboration and supply chain design were significant predictors of customers’ satisfaction of instant noodles in Ekiti State. However, collaboration among supply chain partners emerged as stronger determinant of customers’ satisfaction than supply chain design. The study concludes that these two practices of supply chain management are highly important criteria any manufacturing firm especially in the noodles industry must pay close attention to in order to satisfy her consumers.

This paper investigates the contribution of business model innovations in improvement of food supply chains. Through a systematic literature review, the notable business model innovations in the food industry are identified, surveyed, and evaluated. Findings reveal that the innovations in value proposition, value creation processes, and value delivery processes of business models are the successful strategies proposed in food industry. It is further disclosed that rural female entrepreneurs, social movements, and also urban conditions are the most important driving forces inducing the farmers to reconsider their business models. In addition, the new technologies and environmental factors are the secondary contributors in business model innovation for the food processors. It is concluded that digitalization has disruptively changed the food distributors models. E-commerce models and internet of things are reported as the essential factors imposing the retailers to innovate their business models. Furthermore, the consumption demand and the product quality are two main factors affecting the business models of all the firms operating in the food supply chain regardless of their positions in the chain. The findings of the current study provide an insight into the food industry to design a sustainable business model to bridge the gap between food supply and food demand.

This qualitative research explores the adoption of blockchain technology in supply chain management, aiming to understand the drivers, barriers, and implications associated with its integration. Through in-depth interviews and thematic analysis, insights are gathered from key stakeholders in the supply chain ecosystem. The findings reveal a complex landscape, with stakeholders recognizing blockchain's potential to enhance transparency, efficiency, and trust while acknowledging challenges related to technical complexities, regulatory uncertainties, and organizational barriers. Despite these challenges, participants express optimism about blockchain's transformative potential, citing opportunities for improved traceability, supply chain resilience, and sustainability. Collaboration, governance, and ecosystem development emerge as critical factors for driving blockchain adoption within supply chains, alongside the need for continuous education and capacity-building initiatives. Overall, the study underscores the importance of addressing challenges and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration to unlock the full potential of blockchain-enabled supply chains.

At present time world is facing from the coronavirus disease known as Covid-19. The first case of the coronavirus was reported in the December, 2019 in the Wuhan city of China which is known as the major transportation hub of China. After the spread of Covid-19 many countries have shut down their sea ports and airports. They have banned the import and export activities. Also, China is the major distributor of the raw materials which affect the manufacturing activities across the globe due to lockdowns. India is the developing country due to the Covid-19 spread the cases reported in the India government has lockdown the country for 41 days which affected the manufacturing activities and majorly it affects the supply chains and economy of the country. In the present paper we have discussed the effect of Covid-19 on Indian economy and on supply chains in India. There are total of 18 critical barriers are found out which affected the supply chains in the India. It is expected that this study will helpful the researchers to develop the conceptual models to overcome from this issue.

The concept of supply chain leadership strategy has garnered increasing interest from policymakers and experts, because it is among the most dependable practices to sustainable innovation and competitiveness for large firms across developing economies. Effective implementation of supply chain leadership strategic actions at each level in the company can create sustainable innovative and competitiveness. The study collected statistical data using an online Survey- Monkey questionnaire from 46 of top 100 JSE-listed companies with the intention to discover supply chain leadership strategic actions that drive sustainable innovation and competitiveness in the company. The findings expose a significant empirical insight for companies to understand and leverage supply chain leadership strategic actions to influence sustainable innovative position in a developing economy. These results suggest that firms operating within emerging markets should embrace and acknowledge the importance of sustainable innovation in business practices in the provision of goods and services. This study therefore delivers major contributions to the literature to assist in planning sustainable innovation and supply chain practices in a developing economy to survive in a competitive global environment. The paper also offers a vigorous awareness and knowledge of the common characteristics and strategies for supply chain management that needs to be prioritized by the JSE-listed companies.

This study investigates the adoption of blockchain technology in supply chain management, focusing on its transformative potential, challenges, and strategic implications. Blockchain, characterized by its decentralized and immutable ledger, offers significant benefits in enhancing transparency, efficiency, and trust among supply chain stakeholders. It enables accurate tracking of products, verification of provenance, and streamlined processes through smart contracts, which reduce the need for intermediaries and minimize operational costs. The research explores various sectors, highlighting how blockchain can address issues of counterfeiting, compliance, and sustainability by providing verifiable information about products' origins and handling. However, the adoption of blockchain is not without challenges. The technological complexity involved in integrating blockchain with existing systems, the need for specialized skills, and concerns over data privacy and security pose significant barriers. Additionally, the lack of regulatory clarity and the high initial costs associated with blockchain infrastructure present further obstacles, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises. The study emphasizes the necessity of a cultural shift towards greater openness and collaboration among stakeholders to fully leverage the potential of blockchain. Furthermore, it discusses the environmental impact of blockchain technologies, particularly their energy consumption, and the need for sustainable solutions. The findings suggest that while blockchain holds great promise for transforming supply chain management, careful consideration of the associated challenges is crucial. Future research and industry dialogue will be essential in overcoming these hurdles and achieving widespread blockchain adoption.

This study investigates the impact of information sharing on supply chain resilience by exploring the experiences and insights of supply chain professionals through qualitative research. Information sharing has become increasingly recognized as a vital component in enhancing the ability of supply chains to anticipate, respond to, and recover from disruptions. Through semi-structured interviews with 22 supply chain professionals across various industries, the study delves into the mechanisms through which information sharing influences supply chain resilience, the challenges faced, and the role of enabling factors such as technology and organizational culture. The findings reveal that effective information sharing enhances supply chain visibility, coordination, and adaptability. Enhanced visibility allows supply chain partners to monitor real-time operational data, facilitating early detection of potential disruptions. Improved coordination enables better alignment of activities, reducing inefficiencies and mitigating the bullwhip effect. Adaptability is bolstered through the timely exchange of information, allowing for rapid adjustments to changing conditions. However, the study also identifies significant barriers to effective information sharing, including concerns about data security, competitive advantage, and trust among partners. Trust and strong relationships emerge as critical factors for successful information sharing, highlighting the need to build and maintain trust to facilitate open communication. The role of technology is emphasized, with digital platforms, blockchain, and the Internet of Things (IoT) identified as key enablers of efficient and secure information exchange. The study concludes that fostering a supportive organizational culture and leadership commitment to transparency and collaboration, along with tailoring information-sharing strategies to specific supply chain contexts, is essential for enhancing supply chain resilience. This research contributes to the understanding of the impact of information sharing on supply chain resilience and provides practical insights for organizations aiming to strengthen their resilience in an increasingly complex global business environment.

The Covid-19 pandemic strained global supply chains, and companies faced numerous produc-tion, logistics, or material management problems. It is claimed that the digitalization of supply chains can have the potential to make supply chains more resilient to interruptions and disrup-tions. This article focuses on describing the experiences of three large Austrian family-owned business during the supply chain disruptions caused by the pandemic and the Ukraine war. This assessment is done from the perspective of the supply chain leaders in the organization. We provide insights on what worked and what did not for these firms and what we can take away from their experiences.

The textile industry plays a vital role in the global economy and faces increasing pressures related to sustainability and efficiency. Given the industry's significant environmental impact and the need for improved operational strategies, our review addresses the critical intersection of decision-making methodologies and sustainable practices. Specifically, This review aims to explore the applications of Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) techniques within the textile supply chain to enhance operational performance and decision-making processes. Utilizing a systematic literature review method, we analyzed articles from Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar, focusing on those that address MCDM applications in the textile supply chain. The findings reveal a strong emphasis on supplier selection and evaluation as determinants of competitive advantage, with significant trends toward integrating fuzzy set theory and advanced MCDM methodologies to address uncertainties. Additionally, Sustainability emerges as a core theme, emphasizing the necessity for firms to incorporate green practices into decision frameworks. The insights suggest that by adopting innovative analytical techniques, organizations can improve supplier relationships and operational efficiency.

Purpose: This study aims to investigate the role of blockchain technology in enhancing supply chain transparency in Italy.Design/Methodology/Approach: A quantitative research approach was employed, with data collected through a structured questionnaire distributed to 240 companies across various industries in Italy. The questionnaire focused on assessing blockchain adoption rates, interoperability standards, stakeholder collaboration, regulatory support, cost considerations, and perceived impacts on supply chain transparency.Findings: The findings reveal high levels of blockchain adoption among surveyed companies, with strong positive correlations observed between blockchain adoption and interoperability standards, stakeholder collaboration, and regulatory support. However, challenges such as cost considerations and potential trade-offs between interoperability and transparency were also identified. Overall, blockchain technology shows promise in improving supply chain transparency in Italy.Research Limitations/Implications: This study is limited by its focus on a specific geographical context (Italy) and the use of self-reported data. This qualitative study explores the relationship between supply chain responsiveness (SCR) and customer loyalty within the e-commerce sector. E-commerce has revolutionized global commerce, driven by technological advancements and shifting consumer behaviors. Central to e-commerce success is the ability to meet customer expectations swiftly and reliably, necessitating agile supply chain management (SCM) practices. SCR in e-commerce encompasses the capacity to adapt to dynamic market demands, minimize disruptions, and enhance customer satisfaction through efficient logistics, inventory management, and last-mile delivery. Through in-depth interviews with customers, e-commerce platform managers, and supply chain practitioners, this study investigates key themes, challenges, strategies, and impacts associated with SCR and customer loyalty. Findings reveal that customers prioritize fast order fulfillment, reliable service quality, personalized experiences, and trustworthy interactions, all of which significantly influence their loyalty and advocacy behaviors. Challenges identified include inventory management complexities, logistical hurdles in last-mile delivery, and the need for effective supplier communication. Strategic approaches to enhance SCR include leveraging data analytics for demand forecasting, adopting agile SCM practices, integrating customer feedback into service improvements, and fostering collaborative relationships with suppliers. These strategies not only optimize operational efficiency but also cultivate enduring customer relationships based on satisfaction, trust, and loyalty. The study concludes that improved SCR practices lead to increased customer satisfaction, repeat purchases, and positive word-of-mouth, thereby strengthening competitive advantage and sustainability in the e-commerce marketplace.

This study explores the multifaceted role of culture in supply chain collaboration, focusing on how cultural differences shape communication, trust-building, negotiation, conflict resolution, risk management, and ethical standards. Utilizing a qualitative methodology, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 25 supply chain professionals from diverse cultural backgrounds and industries. The findings reveal that high-context cultures favor indirect communication and nuanced information exchange, which can lead to misunderstandings with partners from low-context cultures who prefer direct and explicit communication. Trust-building practices vary significantly, with high uncertainty avoidance cultures emphasizing formal agreements and procedural rigor, while low uncertainty avoidance cultures prioritize personal relationships and demonstrated reliability. Negotiation strategies also diverge, reflecting the underlying values of collectivism versus individualism, impacting the tactics and outcomes of supply chain negotiations. Conflict resolution approaches differ, with high power distance cultures favoring hierarchical and mediated solutions, and low power distance cultures preferring direct and egalitarian methods. The study highlights the need for adaptability to cultural changes and the development of cultural intelligence as essential competencies for managing cross-cultural supply chains. Additionally, cultural differences in risk management approaches and governance mechanisms affect the coordination and resilience of supply chains, while varying ethical standards influenced by cultural norms necessitate culturally sensitive strategies for promoting corporate social responsibility. The insights gained from this research underscore the importance of understanding and leveraging cultural differences to build stronger, more productive supply chain relationships, contributing to the broader literature on culture and supply chain management and offering practical implications for enhancing global supply chain collaboration.

In the current business environment, firms are eager to adopt new technology as they witness and perceive more and more successful business applications of new technologies, e.g., Big Data, Artificial Intelligence (A.I.), Cloud Computing, etc. As one of the disruptive technologies, Blockchain technology (BCT) is now drawing public attention owing to the cryptocurrency phenomenon (e.g., Bitcoin), for which Blockchain serves as the backbone technology. Given certain innovative features of BCT, especially its transparency, traceability, security, efficiency, confidentiality, and immutability, BCT holds out the promise of impacting supply chain operational and financial efficiencies. Recently, the burgeoning of Metaverse and Non-Fungible Token (NFT) has boosted the BCT as state-of-the-art technology to another notch. Motivated by the proliferating adoption of BCT, we conduct a holistic literature review with a focus on the status of research on BCT in the context of Supply Chain Management (SCM). In particular, this Blockchain-centered research reviews the research up to date on the Blockchain application in SCM. It provides holistic review in terms of (1) the functionality of BCT and its salient features; (2) the prevailing and potential applications of BCT; (3) and the business benefits and impact of BCT in SCM. Finally, we substantiate and highlight a variety of research directions.

The study investigates the influence of power dynamics on supply chain decision-making processes through a qualitative lens, aiming to understand how various forms of power impact interactions, relationships, and strategic outcomes within supply chains. Using semi-structured interviews with supply chain managers and executives from diverse industries, the research explores the multifaceted nature of power, identifying key sources such as economic leverage, expertise, resource control, and network centrality. Findings reveal that power dynamics significantly shape decision-making by determining negotiation outcomes, governance structures, and operational efficiencies. Economic power, often exercised by larger firms, enables them to dominate negotiations and impose favorable terms, creating pressures on smaller partners and potentially leading to conflicts. Expertise and resource control allow firms with specialized knowledge or unique inputs to influence product development and process innovation, further dictating supply chain configurations. The study differentiates between coercive and non-coercive power strategies, showing that while coercive power enforces compliance, it can erode trust and collaboration. Non-coercive power, on the other hand, promotes positive relationships through incentives and collaborative approaches, fostering trust and alignment of supply chain objectives. Governance structures imposed by dominant firms often reflect their strategic priorities but can burden less powerful partners, highlighting the need for balanced oversight. Distributed Manufacturing (DM) is becoming increasingly important in operations management due to its potential to support sustainability goals, reduce risks in global supply chains, and boost local economies. However, previous analyses of the advantages and disadvantages of DM have mainly focused on operations, overlooking additional benefits across the supply chain. For example, DM can enable local sourcing, better serve end-users, and tackle reverse supply chain challenges. While economies of scale are essential for reducing costs and improving productivity, highly centralised manufacturing can increase transportation costs, vulnerability, and supply chain disruptions, particularly during pandemics or other times of restricted transportation. To address these challenges, this study introduces a Multi-attribute Decision Support System (MADSS) and assessment process that considers impacts across the supply chain and guides stakeholders, academics, and decision-makers. The MADSS handles quantitative and qualitative information, missing data, and uncertainty, and a team of experts from academia and industry in New Zealand has developed the evaluation. The MADSS was used to analyse DM and traditional construction alternatives from economic, social, environmental, and resilience perspectives in New Zealand. The research contributes to a better understanding of the impacts of DM across the entire supply chain. Also, it proposes a flexible decision-making framework to engage with stakeholders and support decision-making in other industries and regions.

Employing a qualitative research methodology, this study gathers in-depth insights from semi-structured interviews with supply chain managers, industry experts, and executives. The findings underscore the necessity of proactive risk identification and comprehensive assessment processes. Advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and blockchain, are highlighted as crucial tools for enhancing visibility and responsiveness within supply chains. Strategies such as diversifying suppliers and maintaining safety stock emerge as vital components of risk mitigation, ensuring supply continuity in the face of disruptions. Strong relationships with suppliers are pivotal, facilitating better information sharing and collaborative problem-solving. Leadership commitment to risk management and fostering a culture of resilience within organizations is also critical. Training programs and simulation exercises are identified as effective means of preparing employees to handle disruptions. Furthermore, adherence to regulatory compliance and a focus on sustainability are integral to maintaining long-term stability and reducing the risk of future disruptions.

The lean supply chain of construction engineering projects is to achieve the maximum satisfaction of the owners' needs in order to effectively achieve the goal of supply chain management. This paper explores an effective method of lean supply chain cost management for construction engineering projects with target cost management, so that each participating unit on the supply chain node can fully utilizes its core competencies to minimize internal consumption and waste, and achieve the optimal overall efficiency of the supply chain. According to the requirements of the goal planning theory of the construction project company, establish a lean supply chain cost planning system for the construction project, realize the basic model of the lean supply chain cost management of the construction project, and set the target cost from the lean project of the construction project. The technical decomposition is established by the process of cost decomposition and cost pressure transmission and sub-target cost planning.

The present article proposes a complete framework for Supply Chain Strategy (SCS) analysis that is adapted to the specific characteristics of the agrifood chain, thereby facilitating management of the former. As a specific case of analysis, the horticultural supply chain, originating in Spain and ending with the European consumer, is analyzed, taking as a reference the marketing companies at origin (mainly social economy companies, i.e.; cooperatives). In addition, a survey of marketing companies is conducted to possibly determine which explicit cooperative growth strategies may include horizontal and vertical collaboration relationships with other members of the chain. The aim is to analyze with whom the cooperative collaborates within the supply chain and the key points of such collaboration. A model analyzing the influence of collaboration on company performance is also considered. The results reveal that, in recent years, aspects related to quality and health have been surpassed and replaced by the concept of sustainability within a framework of collaboration with customers. In any case, it becomes evident that there is a need to expand collaboration within the chain by incorporating the supplier of the supplier, with the aim of making the chain more profitable.

Regulatory frameworks play a crucial role, yet inconsistencies across jurisdictions create compliance challenges, underscoring the need for harmonized standards. Collaboration and partnerships are essential, providing platforms for sharing best practices and developing common standards. Enhanced transparency can lead to operational efficiencies, improved consumer trust, and stronger market positioning. Integrating sustainability into supply chain practices is fundamental, aligning with the increasing emphasis on ESG criteria among investors and stakeholders. Education and capacity-building, particularly for suppliers in developing countries, are vital for promoting transparency. Leadership and corporate culture are critical in driving these efforts, with strong commitment from the top necessary to implement effective practices. This study contributes valuable insights for stakeholders in the renewable energy sector, offering a foundation for future research and policy development aimed at advancing sustainable and ethical supply chain practices. The findings highlight the need for a holistic approach that integrates transparency and traceability into broader sustainability and business strategies.

Nowadays, frameworks and models are critical to enabling organizations to identify their current sustainability integration into business and to follow up on these initiatives over time. In this context, the maturity models offer a structured way of analyzing how a supply chain meets specific sustainability requirements and which areas demand attention to reach maturity levels. This study proposes a five-level maturity model to help supply chains identify their level of engagement with sustainability practices combining three perspectives: intra and inter-organizational sustainability practices, triple-bottom-line approach and critical areas for sustainability. All the steps followed in constructing the maturity model were based on a literature review, and case studies supported its improvement, application, and testing. The proposed model presents many advantages, such as being used as a self-assessment tool, a roadmap for sustainability behaviour improvement, and a benchmarking tool to evaluate and compare standards and best practices among organizations and supply chains.

The implementation of waste management strategies informed by supply chain management methodologies may present a viable solution for the effective handling of waste, as exemplified by the waste management challenges observed in Indonesia. The waste management characteristics exhibited by each nation are inherently diverse, as they are influenced by various factors including supply chain management frameworks, the methodologies and technologies employed in waste processing, the cultural practices and behaviours of the populace regarding waste disposal, as well as the unique geographic conditions pertinent to each country. This study seeks to formulate a waste management supply chain framework that incorporates moderating factors influencing the relationship between sustainable macro ergonomic processes and waste management practices. The research methodology employed was purposive convenience sampling, encompassing a total of 224 participants engaged in waste management within the Semarang region of Central Java, Indonesia. The empirical results indicate that H2—TT exerts a statistically significant influence on RPPS (0.02 < 0.05), H3—TP demonstrates a significant impact on RPPS (0.001 < 0.005), H4—MGE displays a significant effect on RPPS (0.00 < 0.05), H5—seasonal floods (BM) reveal a significant effect on RPPS (0.001 > 0.05), and H6—cultural society (CC) manifests no significant impact on RPPS (0.755 > 0.05). The innovative aspect of this study lies in the finding that cultural society has not exerted an influence on waste management, whereas other macro ergonomic factors have shown a significant effect on this domain.

Indonesia has emerged as one of the leading producers and exporters of palm oil, as supported by data from the Central Bureau of Statistics in 2021, which indicate that Indonesian palm oil exports reached an impressive value of US$ 18.44 billion, or IDR 258 trillion, in 2020, marking an 18.43 percent growth compared to the previous year. Furthermore, the domestic market for palm oil and palm kernel oil remains substantial, despite improvements in export quantities. Various industries, including cooking oil refineries, specialty fats, shortening, margarine, bath soaps, and oleochemicals, present potential markets for palm oil (CPO) and palm kernel oil (PKO). The palm oil industry encompasses four related sub-sectors, namely growers, millers, refiners, and oleochemicals, forming an integrated value chain from upstream to downstream. The current focus on environmental, economic, and social sustainability is driving companies to adopt internal green activities and expand their efforts into sustainability supply chain management (SSCM). Implementing SSCM practices is often seen as economically beneficial, as research has demonstrated their positive impact on firm performance from a resource perspective. Within the palm oil industry, a wide range of green management applications are being utilized. This study aims to examine and highlight the existing sustainable management practices across the entire palm oil supply chain, with a particular emphasis on producing high-quality palm oil. To achieve this objective, the paper utilizes a systematic review methodology, The number of papers analyzed were 62 articles published which involves an extensive review of relevant literature to identify research trends, gaps, and issues. The study seeks to contribute to the body of knowledge by expanding the theory of organizational readiness in preparing globally competitive palm oil products. The research findings hold practical significance for practitioners and academics, providing a comprehensive roadmap for implementing green management applications at the organizational level in the palm oil industry's upstream-to-downstream chain.

The solar cell industry is a part of the green energy sector, and effectively combining the patents of various manufacturers within the supply chain to collectively create sustainable patent market value is of paramount importance. This study aimed to establish a business strategy framework for Project-based licensing through the analysis of solar cell patents and the integration of supply chain manufacturers' patents, with the goal of collectively creating market value for patents sustainably. The research methodology included literature analysis and focus group discussions. Initially, the study analyzed solar cell industry patents from the past decade using the WIPS Global Patent database to identify projects with the highest patent count. Subsequently, through the use of focus group discussions, the feasibility of a patent pool strategy within the supply chain was explored. Finally, a strategy framework was proposed for Project-based patent pool licensing, focusing on the top 15 projects with the highest count of 5,579 patents. The results indicated that adopting this strategy framework for supply chain manufacturer patents can result in higher commercial patent value.

This study investigates optimal decisions in a green supply chain consisting of a manufacturer and a leading retailer considering the green marketing and fairness preferences of member firms. Four Stackelberg game decision models are constructed in which the manufacturer and the re-tailer engage in green marketing separately when the manufacturer has no and has fairness preferences. The impacts of fairness preferences and green marketing on the optimal decision in the green supply chain are comparatively analyzed. The study finds that member firms perform green marketing regardless of the presence or absence of fairness preferences and that such be-havior increases the wholesale price, retail price, and market demand of low-carbon products as well as the profits of member firms and the supply chain. A more interesting finding is that the profit growth of member firms and the supply chain due to the manufacturer’s green marketing is more pronounced than that due to the retailer’s green marketing. When the retailer and the manufacturer engage in conduct green marketing, the manufacturer's fairness preferences have different effects on the wholesale price, retail price, market demand, level of green marketing efforts, member enterprises and profits of supply chain. Therefore, firms should consider the impact of green marketing and fairness preferences to make pricing and performance decisions, so as to achieve efficient operation of the whole supply chain and avoid double marginal effects. Finally, the above conclusions are verified through numerical simulation, providing a reference for the decision-making of member firms in the green supply chain.

When the need for medical supplies became urgent and global distribution was disrupted, companies faced the consequences of needing the technology, systems, and plans in place to correctly predict the onslaught. One report shows that about 94 percent of Fortune 1000 companies reported supply chain disruptions due to the COVID-19 global outbreak. Existing studies have discussed supply chain issues and the importance of AI in addressing these challenges. AI, like Industry 4.0 in the healthcare supply chain, is proving to be a game-changer. This paper aims to review and present the various aspects of SSCM and industry 4.0 applications to get a comprehensive literature review, which contains the analysis of multiple articles published from 2010-2020. In addition, the various challenges SSCM and industry 4.0 applications face are identified and discussed. Also, the impact of Industry 4.0 and sustainable practices brings together the healthcare supply chain. This study will help in getting a good understanding of the different industry 4.0 technologies that are important for setting up SSCM.

This study explores the implementation and impact of predictive maintenance within the retail sector, focusing on its benefits, challenges, technological tools, and future directions. The findings indicate that predictive maintenance enables a proactive approach to equipment management, leading to substantial reductions in downtime and maintenance costs, extended equipment lifespan, and enhanced sustainability through reduced energy consumption and waste. However, the adoption of these technologies is not without challenges. High initial costs, the need for specialized skills in data analytics and IoT, issues with data quality and reliability, organizational resistance, and cybersecurity concerns present significant barriers to successful implementation. Technological tools such as IoT sensors, data analytics platforms, machine learning algorithms, and digital twins are crucial for the effective functioning of predictive maintenance systems, providing real-time data monitoring and analysis that improve decision-making and maintenance planning. Geopolitical situations, such as the Ukraine–Russia war, the Israel–Hamas war, and pandemics, can disrupt supply chains, such as the rerouting of oil tankers via South Africa to avoid the impact of the Israel–Hamas conflict. These events will probably occur again, but they are black swan events and difficult to predict. How can firms manage these events to minimise disruption to their supply chains? This paper proposes that a blockchain architecture has the potential to build resilience in supply chains and give them the flexibility to withstand the challenges of black swan events. The decentralisation ability of blockchain technology enables separation of the discrete elements of a sustainable supply chain so contagion does not impact the overall sustainable supply chain. To achieve flexibility in a sustainable supply chain ecosystem requires governance, leadership, and management. Also, artificial intelligence (AI), in conjunction with blockchain, is a technology that can enhance the flexibility and resilience of the supply chain. Thus, AI can act as a controller, co-ordinator, and an integrator in sustainable supply chain systems.

As traditional supply chains face increasingly severe environmental issues and countries promote green development and sustainable development policy concepts, cultivating green supply chain operation models is gradually being highly valued by current governments and enterprises. Generally speaking, the production of green products incurs higher additional costs and thus their total production costs also increase. In this work, the product green level is related to the random demand. Under the green supply chain buy-back contract with the green product R&D cost sharing between the manufacturer and the retailer, both the product green level and the order quantity need to be decided to maximize the channel profit. In order to coordinate the green supply chain, the manufacturer needs to share both the risk of good salvage and the green product R&D cost with the retailer. We find that both the wholesale price and buy-back price increase in the manufacturer’s proposition of the green product R&D cost, but decrease in emission reduction efficiency coefficient or carbon trading price. In addition, the product green level, the optimal order quantity and the channel profit increase in emission reduction efficiency coefficient, but decrease in the R&D cost coefficient of the product green level. Interestingly, we find that if the carbon trading price is low, the manufacturer will set a low product green level and the product carbon emission trading is a cost for the supply chain. The increment of the carbon trading price leads to a higher cost such that the channel profit is decreased. However, if the carbon trading price is high, the manufacturer will set a high product green level and the product carbon emission trading is a revenue for the supply chain. The increment of the carbon trading price leads to a higher revenue such that the channel profit is increased.

In recent years supply chains have evolved into huge ecosystems, demanding trust, provenance, and data privacy. Since blockchain technology (BCT) allows for the development of a distributed environment, it is ideal for supply chain management (SCM) applications. However, concerns regarding data privacy have impeded the development of blockchains. Despite the fact that some blockchains can restrict participants to read and write data, the blockchain’s transparency makes protecting sensitive data challenging. To solve the data privacy challenge, this paper proposes a framework, AccessChain, that is an SCM access control framework based on an attribute-based access control (ABAC) model that restricts access to competing parties while allowing for network scalability. This proposed AccessChain model has two types of ledgers in the system: local and global. Local ledgers are used to store business contracts between stakeholders and the ABAC model management, whereas the global ledger is used to record transaction data. AccessChain can enable decentralized, fine-grained and dynamic access control management in SCM when combined with the ABAC model and BCT. This paper’s experimental results illustrate that high throughput can be achieved in a large-scale request environment while maintaining data privacy and sustaining a scalable network.

The purposes of this study are to introduce the concept of Service Quality (SQ) in E-Supply Chain Management (E-SCM) and its impact on increasing Customer Satisfaction (CS) and provide insightful enhancements to the literature. In addition, the paper also examines the influence of SQ of E-SCM on CS in online shopping. After a comprehensive literature review, four key factors for measuring the E-Supply Chain (Process Control, Interaction with Supplier, Management Support, and Focus on Customers), four key factors for measuring CS (Informing Customers, Attention to Customers’ Needs, Staff Performance Accuracy, and Easy Access to Services), and four factors for measuring the quality of identification services (Assurance, Accountability, Tangibility and Reliability) were selected. The proposed conceptual model was then presented. This model was validated by data collected through a survey of 150 respondents in order to identify customer satisfaction, including that of customers of online websites in Iran. The sample data was analyzed using SPSS21, after which the interrelationships between the model and factors were examined based on the Partial Least Square-Structural (PLS). Model fit indices were then calculated for the dataset. The proposed model was validated using factor analysis and structural equation modeling techniques. The results indicated that E-SCM has a direct impact on CS. The effect of SQ was also confirmed. A positive and significant relationship was identified between E-SCM and CS, E-SCM and SQ, as well as SQ and CS (P> 0.05). The first limitation was to convince respondents to cooperate with the researchers. The second one was the lack of research-related background due to the subject being relatively new. This study, to the best of the authors’ knowledge, is the first empirical analysis on the CS assessment of SQ of E-Supply Chain in online shopping. This important link to online shopping has rarely been explored. It is expected that by filling this gap, this study will help in strengthening online shopping, which needs a change in the marketing area.

This paper outlines a new methodology for developing strategy for supply chain integration of Autonomous Electrical Vehicles (AEV) to the Internet of Things (IoT). The methodology consists of external architecture and internal design that anticipates the business strategy in the development process. The methodology is designed to anticipate the impact of developments in new road transport technologies, such as Tesla Truck or Tesla Pickup. Since the methodology is designed to anticipate the impact of non-existing technologies, it represents green-field analysis. Green-field is defined as a new and non-existent operation. Green-field strategy architecture in this paper is presented as a process of accepting the world and acting upon that version of the world. The results of the analysis are presented as pathways and outcomes, emerging from the interrelated relationship between AEV and IoT. The emerging methodology is applied through two case studies to evaluate the impact to environment, performance and operationalisation. The methodology proposes architecture and design for integrating AEV and IoT in the supply chain strategy, and a set of new evaluation criteria that promote acceptance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the design process. The main contribution to knowledge is a new methodology for integrating AEV and the IoT to the supply chains. The paper applies interplay between inductive and deductive case study and grounded theory approach to build upon the concept of supply chain architecture and contribute to knowledge to the topic of formulating green-field integrated AEV- IoT supply chain strategy.

This qualitative study investigates the adoption of Lean Principles in Supply Chain Management (SCM), aiming to explore the motivations, challenges, and outcomes associated with Lean implementation across diverse organizational contexts. Through semi-structured interviews and thematic analysis, insights were gleaned from stakeholders involved in SCM processes, revealing the critical role of organizational culture, leadership commitment, and strategic alignment in driving successful Lean initiatives. The findings underscore the importance of fostering a culture of continuous improvement, where employees are empowered to proactively identify and address inefficiencies. Leadership emerged as pivotal in setting the tone, providing resources, and championing Lean initiatives, while strategic alignment ensured integration with broader organizational goals and objectives. Operational practices and processes were central, highlighting the need for customization and contextual adaptation in Lean implementation. Despite the potential benefits, the outcomes and impact of Lean adoption varied depending on factors such as organizational maturity and industry context. The study also revealed broader cultural and organizational changes catalyzed by Lean adoption, fostering innovation, collaboration, and adaptability. In summary, this study contributes to our understanding of Lean adoption in SCM, offering practical insights for organizations seeking to enhance efficiency and competitiveness in today's dynamic business landscape.

Consumer trust in supply chain certifications plays a pivotal role in shaping contemporary consumer behavior and marketing effectiveness. This qualitative research investigates consumer perceptions of supply chain certifications and their impact on purchasing decisions and brand loyalty. Through semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions with 30 participants, the study explores themes such as credibility, transparency, perceived value, and the influence of certifications on consumer trust. Findings reveal that consumers value certifications that signal ethical sourcing practices and sustainability commitments, viewing them as assurances of product quality and social responsibility. Credibility and transparency in certification processes emerged as critical factors influencing consumer trust, while perceived benefits such as environmental sustainability and fair labor practices positively influenced purchase intentions. Moreover, certifications were found to enhance brand loyalty by aligning with consumers' ethical values and beliefs. However, the study identifies challenges including high certification costs, complexity in compliance, and consumer skepticism, which hinder broader adoption and effectiveness of certifications. The implications of these findings suggest that businesses can enhance consumer trust and market competitiveness by investing in rigorous certification standards, clear communication strategies, and sustainable practices. Addressing barriers through improved transparency and consumer education is crucial for maximizing the impact of certifications on ethical consumption. Future research directions include longitudinal studies on certification impacts and comparative analyses across industries and global markets to further enrich understanding of consumer behavior and certification influences.

This study explores the barriers to adopting green supply chain practices from the perspective of industry leaders. By conducting qualitative interviews with key decision-makers in various sectors, the research uncovers the complexities and challenges faced in integrating sustainable practices into supply chain operations. The findings highlight significant obstacles such as cost implications, lack of regulatory support, technological limitations, and resistance to change within organizations. This study investigates the pivotal role of leadership in driving sustainable supply chain initiatives (SSCI), highlighting the multifaceted ways through which leaders influence the successful integration and implementation of sustainability practices within supply chains. Using a qualitative approach, the research involved semi-structured interviews with leaders and managers from diverse industries, complemented by document analysis and thematic analysis to capture the complexities of leadership in SSCI. The findings reveal that visionary leadership, characterized by a clear and compelling sustainability vision, plays a crucial role in aligning organizational goals with sustainable practices, inspiring collective action, and fostering a shared commitment to long-term environmental and social objectives. Stakeholder engagement emerged as a critical factor, with leaders who prioritize open communication and collaboration successfully building trust, leveraging expertise, and co-creating innovative solutions to sustainability challenges. Additionally, the study highlights the importance of fostering a culture of innovation, where leaders support experimentation, risk-taking, and the adoption of new technologies and processes that enhance sustainability. Ethical leadership, emphasizing integrity, transparency, and accountability, is identified as essential for gaining stakeholder support and reinforcing the legitimacy of SSCI. Furthermore, the integration of sustainability into organizational culture, driven by leadership, is crucial for aligning individual and organizational behaviors with sustainability goals. The ability of leaders to navigate challenges, adapt to global supply chain complexities, and utilize robust sustainability metrics is also emphasized as key to sustaining SSCI. The study concludes that effective leadership is integral to the success of SSCI, offering valuable insights for organizations aiming to enhance their sustainability performance and contributing to the broader understanding of leadership’s role in sustainable supply chain management.

With the increased global attention to environmental protection, social responsibility and corporate governance (ESG) standards, integrating ESG into supply chain management (SCM) is becoming a strategic requirement for companies to achieve competitiveness and sustainable development. This study reviews the impact factors of ESG practices on supply chain competitiveness, and empirically examines the mechanism of ESG performance on supply chains through a questionnaire survey with a sample of Chinese SMEs. It was found that normative pressure, coercive pressure and imitative pressure in SMEs have a significant positive effect on cognition and attitude and perceived behavioral control; good corporate cognition and attitude, perceived behavioral control and corporate pressure also enhance the level of ESG practices. Further analysis shows that cognition and attitude and perceived behavioral control play a mediating role in the impact of ESG practices, and ESG performance promotes sustainable development of SMEs. The article puts forward the following suggestions: (1) close supply chain partnerships to enhance green innovation; (2) the government should give more resource support to ESG-invested enterprises and support the development of advantageous enterprises; (3) improve the corporate disclosure mechanism and strengthen the supervision; and (4) strengthen the training of professionals in supply chain ESG management.

This study investigates how organizations adapt their procurement practices in response to supply chain disruptions, aiming to enhance resilience and ensure operational continuity. Through qualitative research involving interviews with procurement professionals and industry experts, the study identifies key adaptive strategies employed by organizations, including supplier diversification, enhanced inventory management, digital transformation, supplier collaboration, and contingency planning. These strategies are explored in depth, highlighting their implementation challenges and the outcomes achieved. Despite facing obstacles such as financial constraints, technological barriers, and supplier resistance, organizations have demonstrated a proactive approach in leveraging these strategies to mitigate risks and improve supply chain resilience. The findings reveal that adaptive procurement strategies have led to significant outcomes, including strengthened supplier relationships, increased operational efficiency, better risk management, and competitive advantage. These outcomes underscore the strategic importance of agility, technological integration, collaborative partnerships, and effective leadership in responding to disruptions and maintaining competitiveness. The study also discusses implications for practice and policy, emphasizing the need for continued investment in technology, collaboration, and resilience-building initiatives across supply chains. Overall, this research contributes to the understanding of how organizations can adapt and innovate in the face of dynamic supply chain challenges, providing insights that can guide future research and inform strategic decision-making in procurement and supply chain management.

The modern supply chain (SC) is growing in terms of data, devices, users, and stakeholders, which introduced new security challenges and threats, especially with the reliance on centralized servers or cloud platforms. In addition, increased trust among system participants exposes the SC to a higher risk of vulnerabilities which require strong security measures. This article proposes a hybrid security framework for SC systems, BC-DRLzSC, that integrates Blockchain (BC) and Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) designed to operate in a zero trust (ZT) environment. In particular, we propose a decentralized BC-based approach integrated with smart contracts to manage system participant registration and authentication and to control access to system resources. BC-DRLzSC adopts a ZT architecture to reinforce SC security, which can be achieved with an advocate to verify each entity’s trustworthiness before granting or retaining access to system resources. Incorporating the ZT architecture, with BC and DRL, can potentially and significantly bolster SC system security. DRL is employed to develop a proactive attack detection model that continuously monitors the incoming traffic from authenticated nodes within the network and predicts any malicious actions. Finally, we evaluate the performance of our proposed DRL solution using the NSL-KDD dataset.

Ethiopian Airlines is a leading airline in the world. Its supply chain management is one of the most critical aspects in achieving its sustainability objectives. The present study aims to assess the sustainability practices and strategies of Ethiopian Airways in its supply chain, identifying areas for improvement and recommending strategies for enhancing sustainability. The study concentrates on pertinent sustainability concerns within the aviation sector while examining antecedent research on the sustainability of Ethiopian Airlines’ supply chain management strategies. The findings of the study reveal that there are several areas in need of improvement, including the implementation of waste reduction measures, the establishment of a recycling program, and the reduction of single-use plastic usage. It is suggested that promoting responsible tourism embodying sustainable practices is imperative, particularly within the airline context.

This qualitative study explores the influence of ethical supply chain practices on brand equity from the perspective of consumers. In-depth interviews were conducted with 30 participants to examine their attitudes, perceptions, and behaviors towards brands that emphasize ethical considerations in their supply chain operations. Thematic analysis revealed several key findings. Transparency and authenticity emerged as critical factors influencing consumer trust and perceptions of brand integrity. Participants valued brands that communicated clearly and honestly about their ethical sourcing practices, viewing transparency as indicative of reliability and ethical commitment. Ethical considerations significantly influenced consumer purchase decisions, with participants emphasizing the importance of factors such as fair labor practices, environmental sustainability, and responsible sourcing in shaping their perceptions of product quality and brand value. Brands that integrated these ethical principles into their supply chain management were perceived as offering higher-quality products, which enhanced consumer willingness to pay a premium and bolstered brand reputation. The study also highlighted varying levels of consumer awareness and engagement with ethical supply chain practices, underscoring the importance of effective communication and consumer education. Ethical supply chain practices were found to foster brand loyalty and trust, with brands perceived as ethical and socially responsible enjoying stronger consumer relationships and loyalty. Overall, the findings suggest that ethical supply chain practices play a crucial role in enhancing brand equity by aligning business operations with consumer values and expectations. The study contributes to existing literature by providing empirical insights into the mechanisms through which ethical considerations influence consumer perceptions and behaviors towards brands.

Most of the literature on the optimization problem of transportation in supply chain networks (SCN) considered fixed costs (FC). However, in the practical applications of this problem it is important to study the effect of FC. This paper examines the impact of fixed cost increase as well as the variable cost on the optimization of a Two-Stage SCN. To do so, two mathematical models for mixed-integer nonlinear programming are developed. The first model optimizes fixed and variable costs in addition to the opening cost, whereas the second model only optimizes variable and opening costs. To evaluate the effect of considering FC on the optimization supply chain problem, four groups of instances are randomly generated, and solved using Lingo. The results of the two models are compared utilizing the average percentage deviation. In addition, sensitivity analysis is performed to determine the impact of changes in opening and variable costs on the considered optimization problem. The computational results and the sensitivity analysis show that the first model with minimized FC outperforms the second model, which does not consider the FC in minimization and FC affect the optimization.

In terms of marketing implications, the study underscores the importance of cultural sensitivity in crafting effective strategies. High-context cultures require marketing messages that resonate emotionally through implicit communication and cultural symbolism, while low-context cultures prefer clear, direct messaging focusing on product benefits. The study concludes by advocating for cultural competence as a strategic imperative for global businesses, enabling them to leverage cultural diversity for innovation and competitive advantage. It emphasizes the need for continuous adaptation to cultural nuances and market dynamics to foster inclusive collaboration and achieve sustainable growth in a globalized economy.

Drawing on semi-structured interviews with a diverse group of supply chain professionals, the study identifies key themes including difficulties in achieving visibility beyond immediate suppliers, data fragmentation and inconsistency, barriers to technology adoption, regulatory compliance, cultural and organizational factors, impacts on supplier relationships, and the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic and sustainability goals. The findings highlight the complex nature of these challenges and the need for collaborative, multi-stakeholder approaches to address them effectively. Despite the challenges, the study also reveals the potential benefits of transparency and traceability for enhancing supply chain resilience, sustainability, and stakeholder trust. Moving forward, companies must leverage technological innovations, establish clear communication channels with suppliers, navigate regulatory complexities, and foster a culture of transparency and accountability within their organizations. Future research should focus on practical strategies for implementing transparency and traceability initiatives, as well as evaluating their impact on supply chain performance and sustainability outcomes.

The research applies a case study from China to demonstrate the application of resilience bonds in funding infrastructure projects that aim to enhance the sustainability and resilience of supply chain networks. The study examines the market mechanisms and valuation models of resilience bonds, assessing their potential to mitigate risks associated with transportation failures and to reduce economic losses from unexpected disruptions. By applying empirical data, the research quantitatively evaluates the impact of resilience bonds on the sustainability and reliability of transportation systems. The findings show that resilience bonds can significantly contribute as a sustainable solution to enhance supply chain resilience and sustainability, offering insightful alternatives for financing resilient infrastructure projects. Data synthesis incorporates qualitative and quantitative analyses to distill key themes and patterns. Findings: The review unveils the pivotal role of information visibility in fortifying supply chain outcomes, emphasizing the need for a dual investment strategy encompassing technological solutions and a collaborative organizational culture. Regional variations in supply chain practices, insights from humanitarian supply chains, and the influence of environmental factors on agility broaden the understanding of Industry 4.0 implications. Research Limitations/Implications: The study acknowledges limitations in the geographical focus of the included studies and the evolving nature of Industry 4.0 technologies. These considerations prompt a call for ongoing research to capture emerging trends and global nuances.
