In WPA3 secure connection is executed in two sequential stages. Firstly, in authentication and association stage a pairwise master key (PMK) is generated. Secondly, in post-association stage a pairwise transient key (PTK) is generated from PMK using the traditional 4-way handshake protocol. To reduce the heavy computation of the first stage PMK caching can be used. If client and AP are previously authenticated and has PMK cache, client can skip the first heavy stage and reuse the cached PMK to directly execute the 4-way handshake. But PMK caching is a very primitive technology to manage shared key between client and AP and there are many limitations; AP has to manage stateful cache for multiple clients, cache lifetime is limited, etc. Paired token (PT) \cite{LZ} is a new secondary credential scheme that provides stateless pre-shared key (PSK) in client-server environment. Server issues paired token (public token and secret token) to authenticated client where public token has the role of signed identity and secret token is a kind of shared secret. Once client is equipped with PT, it can be used for many symmetric key based cryptographic applications such as authentication, authorization, key establishment, etc. In this paper we apply the PT approach to WPA3 and try to replace the PMK caching with the one-time authenticated key establishment using PT. At the end of the authentication and association stage AP securely issues PT to client. Then in reassociation stage client and AP can compute the same one-time authenticated PMK from PT in stateless way and compute PTK using the traditional 4-way handshake protocol. Using this kind of stateless reassociation technology AP can provide high performance service to huge number of clients.

Transport Layer Security (TLS) is a cryptographic protocol that provides communications security between two peers and it is widely used in many applications. To reduce the latency in TLS handshake session resumption using pre-shared key (PSK) had been used. But current methods in PSK mode handshake uses a fixed session key multiple times for the lifetime of session ticket. Reuse of fixed session key should be very careful in the point of communications security. It is vulnerable to replay attacks and there is a possibility of tracking users. Paired token (PT) is a new secondary credential scheme that provides pre-shared key in stateless way in client-server environment. Server issues paired token (public token and secret token) to authenticated client. Public token represents signed identity of client and secret token is a kind of shared secret between client and server. Once client is equipped with PT, it can be used for many symmetric key based cryptographic applications such as authentication, authorization, key establishment, etc. It was also shown that it can be used for one-time authenticated key establishment using the time-based one-time password (TOTP) approach. In this paper we apply the PT and TOTP approach to TLS to achieve stateless one-time authenticated session resumption. Server executes full handshake of TLS 1.3 and issues PT to authenticated client. Then client and server can execute one-time authenticated session resumption using PT in stateless way in server side. In every runs of session resumption distinct session keys are established that the same PT can be used safely for longer lifetime. If anonymous PT is used with renewal issuing, user privacy, untraceability and forward security can be achieved easily. It will provide a huge performance gain in large-scale distributed services.

Background: Identification of cancer biomarkers that are differentially expressed (DE) under two biological conditions is an important task in many microarray studies. There exist several methods in the literature in this regards and most of these methods designed especially for unpaired samples, which does not satisfy the requirements of paired samples where the gene expressions are taken from the same patients before and after treatment. Furthermore, the traditional biomarker identification methods based on either p-values or fold change (FC) values. However, sometimes, p-value based results do not comply with FC based results due to the smaller variance of gene expressions. There are some methods that combine both p-values and FC values to solve this problem. But, these methods also show weak performance for small-sample case in presence of outlying expressions. To overcome this problem, in this paper an attempt is made to develop a hybrid robust SAM-FC approach by combining rank of FC values and rank of p-values based on SAM statistic using minimum β-divergence method, which is designed for paired samples. This method introduces a weight function known as β-weight function. This weight function produces larger weights corresponding to usual/normal expressions and smaller weights for unusual/outlying expressions. The β-weight function plays the significant role on the performance of the proposed method. Results: The proposed method uses β-weight function as a measure of outlier detection by setting β=0.2. We unify both classical and robust estimates using β-weight function such that maximum likelihood estimators (MLEs) are used in absence of outliers and minimum β-divergence estimators are used in presence of outliers to obtain reasonable p-values and FC values in the proposed method. We examined the performance of proposed method in a comparison of some popular methods (t-test, SAM, LIMMA, Wilcoxon, WAD, RP and FCROS) using both simulated and real gene expression profiles for both small-and large-sample cases. From the simulation and a real spike in data analysis results we observed that the proposed method outperforms other methods for small-sample case in presence of outliers and it keeps almost equal performance with other robust methods (Wilcoxon, RP and FCROS) otherwise. From a head-and-neck cancer (HNC) dataset the proposed method identified 2 genes (CYP3A4, NOVA1) that are significantly enriched in linoleic acid metabolism, drug metabolism, steroid hormone biosynthesis and metabolic pathways. The survival analysis through Kaplan-Meier curve revealed that combined effect of these 2 genes has prognostic capability and they might be promising biomarker of HNC. Moreover, we retrieved the 12 candidate drugs based on gene interaction from glad4u and drug bank databases. Conclusion The identified drugs showed statistical significance and critical role of the proteins indicate that these proteins might be therapeutic target in cancer. Thus, elucidating the associations between the drugs identified in the present study require further investigations.

High-entropy alloys (HEAs) are of great interest in the field of materials science and engineering. Unlike conventional alloys, which contain a maximum of two base metals, this new category of materials consists of multi-principle elements and the possible number of alloy compositions, in case of HEAs, is outstandingly higher than that for conventional alloys. Here, a review on the high-entropy alloys, has been provided, on the issue whether the earliest definition of High- Entropy alloys, proposed in 2004^{[2, 4]}, is consistent with one of the four-component equiatomic Compositionally complex alloys exhibiting a “High-entropy” effect.
