This comparative study aims to investigate environmental awareness, knowledge, and safety among students in Montenegro and North Macedonia, considering the unique socio-cultural and environmental contexts of both countries. A mixed-methods approach involving surveys and interviews was employed to gather data from students in educational institutions across Montenegro and North Macedonia. The study assessed various factors, including students' awareness of environmental issues, their perceived level of knowledge, and their attitudes towards safety measures. A comprehensive series of 400 face-to-face interviews was carried out and these interviews encompassed 200 students from Montenegro and an equal number from North Macedonia, taking place at two esteemed academic institutions: The University of Montenegro in Podgorica and The University of St. Clement of Ohrid, Bitola, Republic of North Macedonia. Our hypothetical conceptual framework proposes that a combination of variables, including gender (H1), age (H2), year of study (H3), and rate of study (H4), significantly influences the attitudes of students from Montenegro and North Macedonia towards environmental awareness, safety, and knowledge. Research findings indicate significant variations in environmental awareness and knowledge perception among students in the two countries. While both Montenegro and North Macedonia face environmental challenges, differences in educational systems and socio-economic factors contribute to distinct attitudes and behaviors towards environmental issues and safety practices. This study sheds light on the importance of understanding regional differences in environmental awareness and knowledge perception among students. By identifying areas of strength and areas needing improvement, policymakers and educators can develop targeted interventions to enhance environmental education and foster a culture of sustainability in both Montenegro and North Macedonia.

After globalization, South Korea’s retail landscape has been saturated with large-scale, corporate type retails. However, recently new commercial districts composed of small retail units are returning and bringing about a change. This study sought to take note of this phenomenon and identify its features and meanings from the perspective of urban ecology. A density-distribution analysis was conducted to investigate how they were forms, and an analysis of traces on the Internet and an analysis on the types of businesses were done to identify sociocultural characteristics. Results showed that they had similar type of locations and growth patterns, that they harmoniously congregated in a form of smaller-individual stores, and that their use of similar names for their stores had an impact of branding their entire districts. It was also noted that a shared culture through social networking services served as a growth boost for their unfavorable location. The spontaneous formation of such commercial districts can be an outcome of an urban ecological process geared toward blank niches burgeoning in the current retail structure of Korea. The causes and conditions found in the cases reveal meaningful policy implications for cities facing the same urban crisis diversity.

Two-dimensional (2D) materials show advantages as surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrate over traditional noble metals, such as chemically inert flat surface and uniform SERS signals. However, due to the low density of free electrons of 2D materials, the enhancement mechanism is mainly restricted to chemical enhancement instead of electromagnetic enhancement, resulting a relatively low enhancement factor. In this work, we reported a sensitive 2D SERS substrate based on chemical vapor deposited MoN nanosheets with electromagnetic enhanced mechanism. The maximum enhancement factor can be 3×105 with a limit of detected concentration of 4×10-8 M, which is comparable to those noble metal SERS substrates without hot spots. The MoN nanosheets show strong surface plasmon resonance in the visible range as evidenced by the UV-vis absorption spectroscopy and first principle calculation. The MoN nanosheets SERS substrates exhibit excellent Raman signal uniformity within the nanosheets. Meanwhile, Distinct thickness dependent sensitivity was observed in the MoN nanosheets, higher sensitivity can be achieved by decreasing the thickness of the nanosheets. Furthermore, the MoN nanosheets SERS substrate also show high thermal stability, which can be annealed in air for more than 300℃ and maintain its SERS activity. The high stability of MoN nanosheets allows it to be reused for 20 cycles without obvious signal decay. The high sensitivity, stability, reusability and Raman signal uniformity, makes MoN nanosheets an ideal 2D SERS substrate for practical applications.
