We quantitatively investigated the statistical behaviors of semiflexible polymer chains, which are simultaneously subjected to force stretching and rectangular tube confinement. Based on the wormlike chain model and Odijk deflection theory, we derived a new deflection length, by which new compact formulas are obtained for the confinement free energy and force-confinement-extension relation. These newly derived formulas have been justified by numerical solutions of an eigenvalue problem associated with the Fokker-Planck governing equation and extensive Brownian dynamics simulations based on the so-called Generalized Bead-Rod (GBR) model. We found that, comparing to the classical deflection theory, these new formulas are valid for a much extended range of the confinement-size /persistence-length ratio, and have no adjustable fitting parameters for sufficient long semiflexible chains in the whole deflection regime.

Electro-mechanical braking(EMB) which represents development direction of autonomous and intelligent braking plays very useful role on enhancing the braking response performance and intelligence level for mine underground electric trackless rubber-tired vehicle (ETRV). However,there is no Electro-Mechanical Brake system applied practically in coal mine UTRV until now.The accurate control of braking clamping force can determine the length and precision of braking distance of mine ETRV.In addition,because of poor working conditions in underground coal mine tunnel ,braking clamping force sensor may be easy to occur failure,which may cause vital accident.Therefore,A cascaded three-closed-loop EMB system with a positive clamping force sensor or force estimator built for ETRV is established to achieve autonomous elimination and reset of braking clearance and reliable braking force tracking ability via utilizing the electro motor rotor angle displacement and hysteresis effect of mechanical components in this EMB.The results of simulation and experiment indicate that clamping force response is faster than traditional hydraulic disk braking system and proposed force estimator presents good fault-tolerant ability when sensor is fault.This EMB can replace the current hydraulic brake system to enhance automation level of braking control for ETRVs and braking force response performance, reduce oil pollution and cost of maintenance, which is also key technology support for really precise motion control of mine autonomous driving vehicles.

To win a taekwondo competition, more points must be scored, and the key to scoring points is to improve the motor performance of the kick. The wing kick is an offensive and defensive maneuver. Core stability appears to be important for improving athletic performance, but the specific relationship and effect of core stability on athletic performance in the aerial phase of taekwondo is unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between core stability and athletic performance in taekwondo in order to provide appropriate theoretical support for training and to help coaches and athletes to improve athletic performance. A total of 16 subjects (height: 167.34±9.2 cm; weight: 61±8.96 kg; age: 24.7±3.25 years) were studied. Data were captured using 13 infrared cameras at 120Hz, kinematic and kinetic data were captured using a motivated motion capture system, and the data were exported to Visual3D in order to calculate the execution time of the aerial phase, the angular momentum of the left lower extremity, and MVC analysis of the EMG using EMG works. The core stability level of the subjects were measured using the Sahrmann Core Stability Test (SCST) to correlate with the other data, and then the subjects were grouped according to their core stability levels and the data from both groups were analyzed with t-tests. Results During the double fly lifting of aerial segments, SCST levels showed a very strong negative correlation with execution time (r= -0.739) and there was a statistically significant difference in execution time between high and low SCST levels (p < 0.001), and the desired negative correlation was also seen in lower limb angular momentum X-axis (thigh r= -0.6294, shank r= -0.536, foot r= -0.6175), especially in the X-axis. The left rectus femoris (LRF) data had greater activation in the low SCST group(p=0.0019*). Through this experiment, we found that athletes with high core stability had faster execution times, lower angular momentum, and higher core muscle activation. Therefore, we conclude that incorporating core stability training into taekwondo training has the potential to improve kicking performance.

This study presents an innovative analytical method for the detection and quantification of 14 β-agonists in pork using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). The method involves the use of a solid phase microextraction (SPME) probe, consisting of a wooden tip coated with polyacrylonitrile (PAN) and molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP). This probe has been integrated into an automated extraction device, designed in our laboratory to extract the target analytes prior to LC-MS/MS analysis. Compared to the traditional solid-phase extraction (SPE) procedure, the proposed approach significantly reduces the costs related to adsorbent ma-terial and solvent consumption, and shortens purification time, thereby reducing both the tech-nical workload and associated expenses. The methodology has been carefully validated in ac-cordance with the National Standard of the People's Republic of China (GB/T 22286-2008), evalu-ating key parameters including the limit of detection (LOD), limit of quantification (LOQ), matrix effects, linearity, and both intra-day and inter-day precision. The average recovery rates for all β-agonists were observed to lie between 71.6% and 82.2%, with relative standard deviations (RSDs) consistently below 15% for both types of precision. The LOD and LOQ values were found to range from 0.09 to 0.39 μg/kg and 0.27 to 0.99 μg/kg, respectively. In terms of accurate detection of positive samples, the developed method demonstrated a closer approximation to the true value of the sample compared to the National Standard method GB/T 31658.22-2022. Overall, the proposed method exhibits substantial promise for the routine assessment of β-agonists in pork and presents a practical alternative for compliance monitoring in regulatory settings.

Soft pneumatic actuators/robotics have received significant interest in the medical and health fields, due to their intrinsic elasticity and simple control strategies enabling desired interaction. However, current soft hand pneumatic exoskeletons often exhibit uniform deformation, mismatch the profile of the interacted objects, and seldom quantify the assistive effects during activities of daily life (ADL), such as extension angle and joint stiffness predicted. The lack of quantification poses challenges to the effective and sustainable advancement of rehabilitation technology. This paper introduces the design, modeling, and testing of pneumatic bioinspired Segmented Composite Proprioceptive Bending Actuators (SCPBAs) for hand rehabilitation in ADL tasks. The actuator’s soft-joint/rigid-bone segmented structure, inspired by the human finger anatomy, provides a superior fit compared to traditional continuous structures. A quasi-static model is established to predict the bending angles based on geometrical parameters. The SCPBAs also include a quantitative evaluation of joint stiffness and extension angle utilizing proprioceptive bending information. Additionally, a soft under-actuated hand exoskeleton equipped with SCPBAs demonstrates its potential in ADL rehabilitation scenarios.

The cast defects strongly degrade the mechanical properties in cast alloys. The effect of Sn addition on Al-Si alloys was investigated by 3D computed tomography, SEM and TEM. Amorphous Sn oxides are found near the alumina film, cause more shrinkage pores, initiate cracks and deteriorate mechanical properties. This work suggests not adding Sn in various Al alloys used in cast state.

Precipitates are the primary source of strength for the Al-Mg-Si alloy. Aluminum alloy in the peak-aged state mainly contain β'' and β' precipitates. In the past, most of the literature only considered the strengthening effect of β''. Here we develop a single crystal intensity model including both precipitate enhancement effects for the first time. This model was subsequently implemented into a crystal plastic finite element method to model the uniaxial tensile process of a polycrystalline aggregate model of Al-Mg-Si alloy. The simulation results for uniaxial stretching are in good agreement with the experimental results, confirming that the constitutive parameters used for the single crystal strength model with two precipitates are based on realistic physical implications. Furthermore, by comparing the uniaxial tensile simulation results of a peak-aged alloy considering the actual precipitated phase composition of the alloy with those assuming that the precipitated phase is only the β'' phase, the predicted tensile strength of the former is around 5.65% lower than that of the latter, suggesting that the two kinds of precipitation should be considered separately when simulating the mechanical response of Al-Mg-Si alloy. It is highly expected that the present simulation strategy is not limited to the Al-Mg-Si alloys, and it can be equally applied to the other age-enhanced alloys.

Oral cancer ranks sixth among Taiwan's top 10 cancers, and most patients with poor prognosis acquire metastases. The essential fatty acid alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) has been found to diminish many cancer properties. However, the anti-cancer activity of ALA in oral cancer has yet to be determined. Migration and invasion assays confirmed OSCC cells' EMT capabilities, whereas flow cytometry and Western blotting identified the molecular pathways. ALA dramatically reduced cell growth in a concentration dependent manner, according to the findings. Low concentrations of ALA (100 or 200 μM) inhibit colony formation, expression of Twist and EMT-related proteins, expression of MMP2/-9 proteins and enzyme activity, as well as cell migration and invasion. Treatment with high concentrations of ALA (200 or 400 μM) greatly increases JNK phosphorylation and c-jun nuclear accumulation, then upregulates the FasL/caspase8/caspase3 and Bid/cytochrome c/caspase9/caspase3 pathways, leading to cell death. Low concentrations of ALA inhibit SAS and GNM cell migration and invasion by suppressing Twist and downregulating EMT-related proteins, or by decreasing the protein expression and enzyme activity of MMP-2/-9, whereas high concentrations of ALA promote apoptosis by activating the JNK/FasL/caspase 8/caspase 3-extrinsic pathway and the Bid/cytochrome c/caspase 9 pathway. ALA demonstrates potential as a treatment for OSCC patients.

BACKGROUND Studies demonstrate that T cells secrete interleukin and other cytokines to promote the growth and activation of B cells, and B lymphocytes release antibodies that attach to the PLA2R and THSD7A surface antigens on podocytes to create immunological complexes that are deposited beneath the glomerular epithelium, which damage the filtration barrier and trigger proteinuria.The combination regimen of Calcineurin inhibitors（CNIs）and rituximab(RTX) could simultaneously inhibit the proliferation of T and B lymphocytes and reduced the production of immune complexes.This kind of therapeutic method for idiopathic membranous nephropathy may achieve better clinical results and less complications. METHODS Fifty-eight patients who were diagnosed as idiopathic membranous nephropathy（IMN）through a biopsy suffering from nephrotic syndrome (NS) were recruited, and were divided into RTX treatment group(RTX group), CNIs combined with RTX treatment group(CNIs+RTX group) and CNIs combined with glucocorticoids(GC) treatment group(CNIs+CG group) according to their treatment background. All patients in 3 groups were followed up for at least 12 months. Clinical composite remission(including complete or partial remission) at 12 months was the main result; safety and the incidence of adverse events were the secondary outcomes. RESULTS The PLA2R antibody level of RTX+CNIs group at the baseline much higher than RTX and CNIs+GC groups (240.30(84.56,386.99)RU/ml vs. 44.94(11.48,143.94)RU/ml, 7.72(2.00,102.68) RU/ml, respectively, p=0.006). The PLA2R antibody concentrations among the three groups become comparable at the end of 3 months(36.80(2.10,88.05) RU/ml vs.14.32(2.00,47.98)RU/ml, 2.60(2.00,24.50) RU/ml, respectively, p>0.05). At 12 months, all patients in the CNIs+GC group achieved immune remission, and the PLA2R-ab concentration was less than 14RU/ml. At 3 months, 33of 58 patients(56.90%) had a composite remission(complete or partial remission), including 4 of 14 patients (27.85%) in the RTX group, 11 of 17 patients(64.71%) in the CNIs+RTX group and 18 of 27 patients (66.67%) in the CNIs+GC group (p=0.048). At 12 months, 51 of 58 patients(87.93%) had a composite remission, including 12 of 14 patients (85.71%) in the RTX group, 15 of 17 patients(88.24%) in the CNIs+RTX group and 24 of 27 patients (88.89%) in the CNIs+GC group (p=0.957). During the 12-month study, 7 patients did not response for the treatment. 1 patient relapsed during the 12-month treatment with a re-elevation of antibodies. Adverse events occurred in 18(31.03%)patients in the whole study, including 3 patients(5.17%) in the RTX group, 2 patients(3.45%) in the CNIs+RTX and 13patients(22.41%) in the CNIs+GC group(p< 0.05). CONCLUSIONS The combination of CNIs and RTX can effectively alleviate idiopathic membranous nephropathy with nephrotic syndrome in the first 3 months，as well as the combination of CNIs and GC, and the efficacy of both treatment methods for IMN was superior to that of RTX alone at the first 3 months. Furthermore, the RTX+CNIs group had less side effects compared with GC+CNIs group. So CNIs combined with RTX could be recommended as a superior therapeutic method for IMN treatment to shorten remission durion with less complications.

Abstract: Steamed ginseng water (SGW), the by-product generated from the heated processing of red ginseng, with high content of active substances, better skincare activities, and large amount output ineffective utilization, resulted in environmental pollution and resource waste. In current study, UHPLC-Q-Exactive-MS/MS liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry and multivariate statistical analysis were conducted to characterize the compositional features of the repeated thermal-treated SGW. The total sugar content, total sugar content, total reducing sugar content, total non-reducing sugar content, DPPH, ABTS+, Fe3+ reducing capacity, and the hydroxyl radical scavenging abilities were employed to evaluate the gross contents variation connect with anti-oxidant activities during heat processes. The result revealed the SGW content and antioxidant activity were highly correlated, the 7th SGW sample showed the highest content and the strongest ability on anti-aging capacities. 38 significant common differential markers were screened, by the four compared SGW groups (1- and 3-, 1- and 5-, 1- and 7-, and 1- and 9) through OPLS-DA analysis. The current study showed that the thermal proceeding times could be a vital index value during the recycling operation quality control of SGW, which has a huge potential in anti-aging cosmetic raw materials, In the meanwhile, our results provided a green, sustainable, low-cost thinking of rational application on ginseng resource.

Banana wilt caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense tropical race 4 (Foc TR4) is a devastating fungal disease. Biocontrol strategies owned immense potential in inhibiting the spread of Foc TR4. Here, thirty actinobacteria were isolated from soils and screened for their antagonistic activity against Foc TR4. Strain SCA4-21T exhibited broad-spectrum antifungal activity against nine phytopathogenic fungi including Foc TR4. The strain was identified as the genus Streptomyces according to phenotypic characteristics and 16S rRNA gene phylogenetic analysis. Multi-locus sequence analysis based on five house-keeping gene alleles (atpD, gyrB, recA, rpoB, and trpB) revealed that strain SCA4-21T clustered into S. hygroscopicus subsp. hygroscopicus NBRC 13472T with 100% of bootstrap value. Average nucleotide identity and dDDH were 98.49% and 44.30% above the threshold of novel species. Hence, strain SCA 4-21T represented a novel species within the genus Streptomyces, named as Streptomyces luomodiensis sp. nov.. The type strain is SCA4-21T (=GDMCC4.340T= JCM36555T). By the CAZymes analysis, 348 carbohydrate-active enzymes were detected, including 15 chitinases and 8 β-1,3-glucanases. The fermentation broth of strain SCA4-21T showed high activities of chitinase and β-1,3-glucanase, contributing to the antifungal activity. Our results showed an innovative potential biocontrol agent for managing plant fungal diseases, specifically banana fusarium wilt.

We monitored the water quality and hydrological conditions of a horizontal subsurface constructed wetland (HSSF-CW) in Beijing, China, for 2 years. We simulated the area rate constant and the temperature coefficient with the first-order kinetic model. We examined the relationships between the nitrogen (N) removal rate, N load, seasonal variations in the N removal rate, and environmental factors, such as the area rate constant, temperature, and dissolved oxygen (DO). The effluent ammonia (NH₄⁺-N) and nitrate (NO₃⁻-N) concentrations were significantly lower than the influent concentrations (p<0.01, n=38). The NO₃⁻-N load was significantly correlated with the removal rate (R²=0.9566, p<0.01), but the NH^₄+-N load was not correlated with the removal rate (R²=0.0187, p>0.01). The area rate constants of NO₃⁻-N and NH₄⁺-N at 20 °C were 27.01±26.49 and 16.63±10.58 m∙yr⁻¹, respectively. The temperature coefficients for NO₃⁻-N and NH₄⁺-N were estimated at 1.0042 and 0.9604, respectively. The area rate constants for NO₃⁻-N and NH₄⁺-N were not correlated with temperature (p>0.01). The NO₃⁻-N area rate constant was correlated with the corresponding load (R²=0.9625, p<0.01). The NH₄⁺-N area rate was correlated with DO (R²=0.6922, p<0.01), suggesting that the factors that influenced the N removal rate in this wetland met Liebig's law of the minimum.
