Online artificial intelligence (AI) tools have recently gained in popularity. So-called “generative AI” chatbots unlock new opportunities to access vast realms of knowledge when being prompted by users. Here, we test the capabilities of two such AIs in order to determine the benefits for plastic surgery while also assessing potential risks. Future developments are outlined. We used the online portals of OpenAI’s ChatGPT(version 3.5) and Google’s Bard to ask a set of questions and give specific commands. Results provided by the two tools were compared and analyzed by a committee. For professional plastic surgeons, we found that ChatGPT and Bard can be of help when it comes to conducting scientific reviews and helping with scientific writing but are of limited use due to the superficiality of their answers in specific domains. For medical students, in addition to the above, they provide useful educational material with respect to surgical methods and exam preparation. For patients, they can help when it comes to preparing for an intervention, weighing in risks and benefits, while providing guidance on optimal post-operative care. ChatGPT and Bard open widely accessible data to every internet user. While they might create a sense of “magic” due to their chatbot interfaces, they nonetheless can help to increase productivity. For professional surgeons, they produce superficial answers - for now - albeit providing help with scientific writing and literature reviews. For medical students, they are great tools to deepen their knowledge about specific topics such as surgical methods and exam preparation. For patients, they can help in translating complicated medical jargon into understandable lingo and provide support for pre-operative as well as post-operative care. Such AI tools should be used cautiously as answers are not always precise nor accurate and should always be used in combination with expert medical guidance.

This paper examines the potential of large language models, specifically ChatGPT, BingChat, and Bard, in enhancing the work of teachers in various educational settings. These models, powered by cutting-edge artificial intelligence, offer a wide range of applications that can aid educators in curriculum development, personalized instruction, student engagement, and administrative tasks. By harnessing the capabilities of these language models, teachers can not only streamline their workload but also improve the overall quality of education. This paper explores the ways in which these models can empower educators and revolutionize teaching practices.

1) Background: When women receive a diagnosis of a gynecologic malignancy, they can have questions about their diagnosis or treatment that can result in voice queries to virtual assistants. Recent advancement in artificial intelligence (AI) has transformed the landscape of medical information accessibility. The Google virtual assistant (VA) outperformed Siri, Alexa, and Cortana in voice queries presented prior to the explosive implementation of AI in early 2023. The efforts presented here focus on determining if advances in AI in the last 12 months improved the accuracy of Google VA responses related to gynecologic oncology. (2) Methods: Previous questions were utilized to form a common basis for queries prior to 2023 and responses in 2024. Correct answers were obtained from the UpToDate medical resource. Responses related to gynecologic oncology were obtained using Google VA, as well as the generative AI chatbots Google Bard/Gemini and Microsoft Bing-Copilot. (3) Results: The AI narrative responses varied in length and positioning of answers within the response. Google Bard/Gemini achieved an 87.5% accuracy rate, while Microsoft Bing-Copilot reached 83.3%. In contrast, the Google VA’s accuracy in audible responses improved from 18% prior to 2023 to 63% in 2024. (4) Conclusion: While the accuracy of the Google VA has improved in the last year, it underperformed Google Bard/Gemini and Microsoft Bing-Copilot so that there is considerable room for further improved accuracy.

This primer brings all the main concepts into a single digestible document. Topics covered include text tokenization, vocabulary construction, token embedding, context embedding with attention mechanisms, artificial neural networks, and objective functions in model training. The primer also explores state-of-the-art methods in training large language models to generalize on specific applications and to align with human intentions. The growing dependence on large language models (LLM)s highlights the urgent need to deepen trust in these technologies. Regular, rigorous validation of their expertise, especially in nuanced and intricate scenarios, is essential to ensure their readiness for clinical applications. Our study pioneers the exploration of LLM utility in the field of cardiology. We stand at the cusp of a transformative era where mature AI and LLMs, notably ChatGPT, GPT-4, and Google Bard, are poised to influence healthcare significantly. Recently, we put three available LLMs, OpenAI's ChatGPT-3.5, GPT-4.0, and Google's Bard, to the test against a significant Polish medical special-ization licensing exam (PES). The exams cover the scope of completed specialist training, focusing on diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, excluding invasive medical procedures and interven-tions. In our analysis, GPT-4 consistently outperformed the others, ranking first, with and Google Bard and ChatGPT- 3.5 following, respectively. The performance metrics underscore GPT-4's no-table potential in medical applications. Given a score improvement of over 23.5 % between two AI models released just four months apart, clinicians must stay informed and up-to-date about these rapidly evolving tools and their potential applications to clinical practice. Our results provide a snapshot of the current capabilities of these models, highlighting the nuanced performance dif-ferences when confronted with identical questions

The rapid proliferation of information in the digital era underscores the importance of accurate historical representation and interpretation. While artificial intelligence (AI) has shown promise in various fields, its potential for historical fact-checking and gap-filling remains largely untapped. This study evaluates the performance of three large language models (LLMs)—GPT-3.5, GPT-4, and Google- BARD—in the context of predicting and verifying historical events based on given data. A novel metric, "Distance to Reality" (DTR), is introduced to assess the models' outputs against established historical facts. The results reveal a substantial potential for AI in historical studies, with GPT-4 demonstrating superior performance. This paper underscores the need for further research into AI's role in enriching our understanding of the past and bridging historical knowledge gaps.
