In this way, some approaches are applied to get some sets from (Neutrosophic)n-SuperHyperGraph and after that, some ideas are applied to get different types of super-closing numbers which are called by optimal-super-resolving number, optimal-super-coloring number and optimal-super-dominating number. The notion of dual is another new idea which is covered by these notions and results. In the setting of dual, the set of super-vertices is exchanged with the set of super-edges. Thus these results and definitions hold in the setting of dual. Setting of neutrosophic n-SuperHyperGraph is used to get some examples and solutions for two applications which are proposed. Both setting of SuperHyperGraph and neutrosophic n-SuperHyperGraph are simultaneously studied but the results are about the setting of n-SuperHyperGraphs. Setting of neutrosophic n-SuperHyperGraph get some examples where neutrosophic hypergraphs as special case of neutrosophic n-SuperHyperGraph are used. The clarifications use neutrosophic n-SuperHyperGraph and theoretical study is to use n-SuperHyperGraph but these results are also applicable into neutrosophic n-SuperHyperGraph. Special usage from different attributes of neutrosophic n-SuperHyperGraph are appropriate to have open ways to pursue this study. Different types of procedures including optimal-super-set, and optimal-super-number alongside study on the family of (neutrosophic)n-SuperHyperGraph are proposed in this way, some results are obtained. General classes of (neutrosophic)n-SuperHyperGraph are used to obtains these closing numbers and super-closing numbers and the representatives of the optimal-super-coloring sets, optimal-super-dominating sets and optimal-super-resolving sets. Using colors to assign to the super-vertices of n-SuperHyperGraph and characterizing optimal-super-resolving sets and optimal-super-dominating sets are applied. Some questions and problems are posed concerning ways to do further studies on this topic. Using different ways of study on n-SuperHyperGraph to get new results about closing numbers and super-closing numbers alongside sets in the way that some closing numbers super-closing numbers get understandable perspective. Family of n-SuperHyperGraph are studied to investigate about the notions, super-resolving and super-coloring alongside super-dominating in n-SuperHyperGraph. In this way, sets of representatives of optimal-super-colors, optimal-super-resolving sets and optimal-super-dominating sets have key role. Optimal-super sets and optimal-super numbers have key points to get new results but in some cases, there are usages of sets and numbers instead of optimal-super ones. Simultaneously, three notions are applied into (neutrosophic)n-SuperHyperGraph to get sensible results about their structures. I introduce now for the first time the neutrosophic modal logic. The Neutrosophic Modal Logic includes the neutrosophic operators that express the modalities. It is an extension of neutrosophic predicate logic, and of neutrosophic propositional logic. Two numbers are obtained but now both settings leads to approach is on demand which is finding biggest set which have all vertices which are neighbors. Let NTG : (V,E,σ,μ) be a neutrosophic graph. Then failed independent number I(NTG) for a neutrosophic graph NTG : (V,E,σ,μ) is maximum cardinality of a set S of vertices such that every two vertices of S are endpoints for an edge, simultaneously; failed independent neutrosophic-number In(NTG) for a neutrosophic graph NTG : (V,E,σ,μ) is maximum neutrosophic cardinality of a set S of vertices such that every two vertices of S are endpoints for an edge, simultaneously. In complete-bipartite-neutrosophic graphs, a set of vertices including two vertices from different parts makes intended set but with slightly differences, in complete-t-partite-neutrosophic graphs, a set of t vertices from different parts makes intended set. In both settings, some classes of well-known neutrosophic graphs are studied. Some clarifications for each result and each definition are provided. Using basic set to extend this set to set of all vertices has key role to have these notions in the form of neutrosophic failed-independent number and failed independent neutrosophic-number arising neighborhood of vertices. Some clarifications for each result and each definitions are provided. Using fixed vertex has key role to have these notions in the form of vertex or edge. The value of an edge has eligibility to call quasi-co-degree but the value of a vertex has eligibility to call quasi-degree. Some results get more frameworks and perspective about these definitions. The way in that, two vertices have connection together, open the way to define neighborhood and co-neighborhood. The maximum values in neighborhood and co-neighborhood introduces quasi-degree and quasi-co-degree, respectively. New name is chosen from degree. Since amid all vertices with different degrees, one vertex is chosen. In other words, one vertex is fixed and its degree turns out quasi-degree where two degrees could be assigned to a vertex. Degree of edges and degree of vertices. The number of edges which are incident to the vertex and the number of vertices which are neighbors to the vertex. Degree and co-degree are the notions which are transformed to use in quasi-style. Two neutrosophic values introduce two neutrosophic vertices separately in each settings. These notions are applied into neutrosophic graphs as individuals but not family of them as drawbacks for these notions. Finding special neutrosophic graphs which are well-known, is an open way to purse this study. Some problems are proposed to pursue this study. Many various using of this new-born fuzzy model for solving real-world problems and urgent requirements involve introducing new concept for analyzing the situations which leads to solve them by proper, quick and ecient method based on statistical data. This gap between the model and its solution cause that we introduce nikfar domination in neutrosophic graphs as creative and eective tool for studying a few selective vertices of this model instead of all ones by using special edges. Being special selection of these edges aect to achieve quick and proper solution to these problems. Domination hasn't ever been introduced. So we don't have any comparison with another denitions. The most used graphs which have properties of being complete, empty, bipartite, tree and like stu and they also achieve the names for themselves, are studied as fuzzy models for getting nikfar dominating set or at least becoming so close to it. We also get the relations between this special edge which plays main role in doing dominating with other special types of edges of graph like bridges. Finally, the relation between this number with other special numbers and characteristic of graph like order are discussed.

Some neutrosophic SuperHyperClasses are defined based on the notion, SuperHyperResolving. The terms of duality, totality, perfectness, connectedness, and stable, are added to basic framework and initial notions, SuperHyperDominating and SuperHyperResolving but the concentration is on the “perfectness” to figure out what’s going on when for all targeted SuperHyperVertices, there’s only one SuperHyperVertex in the intended set. There are some instances and some clarifications to make sense about what’s happened and what’s done in the starting definitions. The key point is about the minimum sets. There are some questions and some problems to be taken as some avenues to pursue this study and this research. A basic familiarity with SuperHyperGraph theory and neutrosophic SuperHyperGraph theory are proposed.

Forcing a vertex to change its color is a type of approach to force that vertex to be zero-like. Forcing a vertex which is only neighbor for zero-like vertex to be zero-like vertex but now reverse approach is on demand which is finding biggest set which doesn’t force. LetNTG : (V,E,σ,μ) be a neutrosophic graph. Then failed zero-forcing number Z(NTG) for a neutrosophic graph NTG : (V,E,σ,μ) is maximal cardinality of a set S of black vertices (whereas vertices in V (G) \ S are colored white) such that V (G) isn’t turned black after finitely many applications of “the color-change rule”: a white vertex is converted to a black vertex if it is the only white neighbor of a black vertex. Failed zero-forcing neutrosophic-number Zn(NTG) for a neutrosophic graphNTG : (V,E,σ,μ) is maximal neutrosophic cardinality of a set S of black vertices (whereas vertices in V (G) \ S are colored white) such that V (G) isn’t turned black afterfinitely many applications of “the color-change rule”: a white vertex is converted to a black vertex if it is the only white neighbor of a black vertex. Also, some classes of neutrosophic graphs namely path-neutrosophic graphs, cycle-neutrosophic graphs, complete-neutrosophic graphs, star-neutrosophic graphs, bipartite-neutrosophic graphs, and t-partite-neutrosophic graphs are investigated in the terms of maximal set which forms both of failed zero-forcing number and failed zero-forcing neutrosophic-number. Neutrosophic number is reused in this way. It’s applied to use the type of neutrosophic number in the way that, three values of a vertex are used and they’ve same share to construct this number to compare with other vertices. Summation of three values of vertex makes one number and applying it to a comparison. This approach facilitates identifying vertices which form failed zero-forcing number and failed zero-forcing neutrosophic-number. In path-neutrosophic graphs, the set of vertices such that every given two vertices in the set, have distance at least two, forms maximal set but with slightly differences, in cycle-neutrosophic graphs, the set of vertices such that every given two vertices in the set, have distance at least two, forms maximal set. Other classes have same approaches. In complete-neutrosophic graphs, a set of vertices excluding two vertices leads us to failed zero-forcing number and failed zero-forcing neutrosophic-number. In star-neutrosophic graphs, a set of vertices excluding only two vertices and containing center, makes maximal set. In complete-bipartite-neutrosophic graphs, a set of vertices excluding two vertices from same parts makes intended set but with slightly differences, in complete-t-partite-neutrosophic graphs, a set of vertices excluding two vertices from same parts makes intended set. In both settings, some classes of well-known neutrosophic graphs are studied. Some clarifications for each result and each definition are provided. Using basic set not to extend this set to set of all vertices has key role to have these notions in the form of failed zero-forcing number and failed zero-forcing neutrosophic-number. The cardinality of a set has eligibility to form failed zero-forcing number but the neutrosophic cardinality of a set has eligibility to call failed zero-forcing neutrosophic-number. Some results get more frameworks and perspective about these definitions. The way in that, two vertices don’t have unique connection together, opens the way to do some approaches. A vertex could affect on other vertex but there’s no usage of edges. These notions are applied into neutrosophic graphs as individuals but not family of them as drawbacks for these notions. Finding special neutrosophic graphs which are well-known, is an open way to pursue this study. Some problems are proposed to pursue this study. Basic familiarities with graph theory and neutrosophic graph theory are proposed for this article.

Neighborhood has the key role to define this notion. Also, neighborhood is defined based on strong edges. Strong edge gets a framework as neighborhood and after that, too close vertices have key role to define global powerful alliance based on strong edges. The structure of set is studied and general results are obtained. Also, some classes of neutrosophic graphs excluding empty, path, star, and wheel and containing complete, cycle and r-regular-strong are investigated in the terms of set, minimal set, number, and neutrosophic number. Neutrosophic number is used in this way. It’s applied to use the type of neutrosophic number in the way that, three values of a vertex are used and they’ve same share to construct this number. It’s called “modified neutrosophic number”. Summation of three values of vertex makes one number and applying it to a set makes neutrosophic number of set. This approach facilitates identifying minimal set and optimal set which forms minimal-global-powerful-alliance number and minimal-global-powerful-alliance-neutrosophic number. Two different types of sets namely global-powerful alliance and minimal-global-powerful alliance are defined. Global-powerful alliance identifies the sets in general vision but minimal-global-powerful alliance takes focus on the sets which deleting a vertex is impossible. Minimal-global-powerful-alliance number is about minimum cardinality amid the cardinalities of all minimal-global-powerful alliances in a given neutrosophic graph. New notions are applied in the settings both individual and family. Family of neutrosophic graphs has an open avenue, in the way that, the family only contains same classes of neutrosophic graphs. The results are about minimal-global-powerful alliance, minimal-global-powerful-alliance number and its corresponded sets, minimal-global-powerful-alliance-neutrosophic number and its corresponded sets, and characterizing all minimal-global-powerful alliances, minimal-t-powerful alliance, minimal-t-powerful-alliance number and its corresponded sets, minimal-t-powerful-alliance-neutrosophic number and its corresponded sets, and characterizing all minimal-t-powerful alliances. The connections amid t-powerful-alliances are obtained. The number of connected components has some relations with this new concept and it gets some results. Some classes of neutrosophic graphs behave differently when the parity of vertices are different and in this case, cycle, and complete illustrate these behaviors. Two applications concerning complete model as individual and family, under the titles of time table and scheduling conclude the results and they give more clarifications and closing remarks. In this study, there’s an open way to extend these results into the family of these classes of neutrosophic graphs. The family of neutrosophic graphs aren’t study deeply and with more results but it seems that analogous results are determined. Slight progress is obtained in the family of these models but there are open avenues to study family of other models as same models and different models. There’s a question. How can be related to each other, two sets partitioning the vertex set of a graph? The ideas of neighborhood and neighbors based on strong edges illustrate open way to get results. A set is global powerful alliance when two sets partitioning vertex set have uniform structure. All members of set have more amount of neighbors in the set than out of set and reversely for non-members of set with less members in the way that the set is simultaneously t-offensive and(t-2)-defensive. A set is global if t=0. It leads us to the notion of global powerful alliance. Different edges make different neighborhoods but it’s used one style edge titled strong edge. New notion of dimension as set, as two optimal numbers including metric number, dimension number and as optimal set are introduced in individual framework and in formation of family. Behaviors of twin and antipodal are explored in fuzzy(neutrosophic) graphs. Fuzzy(neutrosophic) graphs, under conditions, fixed-edges, fixed-vertex and strong fixed-vertex are studied. Some classes as path, cycle, complete, strong, t-partite, bipartite, star and wheel in the formation of individual case and in the case, they form a family are studied in the term of dimension. Fuzzification(neutrosofication) of twin vertices but using crisp concept of antipodal vertices are another approaches of this study. Thus defining two notions concerning vertices which one of them is fuzzy(neutrosophic) titled twin and another is crisp titled antipodal to study the behaviors of cycles which are partitioned into even and odd, are concluded. Classes of cycles according to antipodal vertices are divided into two classes as even and odd. Parity of the number of edges in cycle causes to have two subsections under the section is entitled to antipodal vertices. In this study, the term dimension is introduced on fuzzy(neutrosophic) graphs. The locations of objects by a set of some junctions which have distinct distance from any couple of objects out of the set, are determined. Thus it’s possible to have the locations of objects outside of this set by assigning partial number to any objects. The classes of these specific graphs are chosen to obtain some results based on dimension. The types of crisp notions and fuzzy(neutrosophic) notions are used to make sense about the material of this study and the outline of this study uses some new notions which are crisp and fuzzy(neutrosophic). Some questions and problems are posed concerning ways to do further studies on this topic. Basic familiarities with fuzzy(neutrosophic) graph theory and graph theory are proposed for this article.

This article presents a new method of segmenting images with gray levels. The method is based on determining several thresholds for separation of gray levels. The determination of these thresholds is done using the certainty of the neutrosophic information. The concept of this method can be stated simply: to choose the local maximums for the neutrosophic certainty.

In this paper, a geometric model is introduced for Neutrosophic data problem for the first time. This model is based on neutrosophic sets and neutrosophic relations. Neutrosophic control points are defined according to these points, resulting in neutrosophic Bézier curves.

Different types of procedures including set, optimal set, and optimal number alongside study on the family of neutrosophic hypergraphs are proposed in this way, some results are obtained. General classes of neutrosophic hypergraphs are used to obtains these numbers and the representatives of the colors, dominating sets and resolving sets. Using colors to assign to the vertices of neutrosophic hypergraphs and characterizing resolving sets and dominating sets are applied. Some questions and problems are posed concerning ways to do further studies on this topic. Using different ways of study on neutrosophic hypergraphs to get new results about numbers and sets in the way that some numbers get understandable perspective. Family of neutrosophic hypergraphs are studied to investigate about the notions, dimension and coloring alongside domination in neutrosophic hypergraphs. In this way, sets of representatives of colors, resolving sets and dominating sets have key role. Optimal sets and optimal numbers have key points to get new results but in some cases, there are usages of sets and numbers instead of optimal ones. Simultaneously, three notions are applied into neutrosophic hypergraphs to get sensible results about their structures. Basic familiarities with neutrosophic hypergraphs theory and hypergraph theory are proposed for this article.

This article presents a new method of segmenting grayscale images by minimizing Shannon's neutrosophic entropy. For the proposed segmentation method, the neutrosophic information components, i.e., the degree of truth, the degree of neutrality and the degree of falsity are defined taking into account the belonging to the segmented regions and at the same time to the separation threshold area. The principle of the method is simple and easy to understand and can lead to multiple thresholds. The efficacy of the method is illustrated using some test gray level images. The experimental results show that the proposed method has good performance for segmentation with optimal gray level thresholds.

Neutrosophic cubic set is the hybridization of the concept of neutrosophic set and interval neutrosophic set. Neutrosophic cubic set has the capacity to express the hybrid information of both the interval neutrosophic set and the single valued neutrosophic set simultaneously. As newly defined, little research on the operations and applications of neutrosophic cubic sets appear in the current literature. In the present paper we propose the score, accuracy functions for neutrosophic cubic sets and prove their basic properties. We firstly develop TODIM method to solve multi attribute group decision making in neutrosophic cubic set environment, which we call NC-TODIM. Also, we solve a MAGDM problem using the proposed NC-TODIM method to show the applicability and effectiveness of the developed method. We also conduct sensitivity analysis to show the impact of ranking order of the alternatives for different values of attenuation factor of losses for multi-attribute group decision making problem.

Neutrosophic cubic set (NCS) is one of the important family members of neutrosophic hybrid sets. Neutrosophic cubic set has more strength than other family members of neutrosophic hybrid sets to express incomplete information due to the presence of interval valued neutrosophic set (IVNS) and single valued neutrosophic set (SVNS) in its structure. Cross entropy measure is one of the best way to calculate the divergence of any variable from the priori one variable. In this paper we first define a new cross entropy measure under NCSs environment which we call NC- cross entropy measure. We investigate the basic properties of NC-cross entropy. We also propose weighted NC-cross entropy and investigate its basic properties. We develop a novel multi attribute decision making (MADM) strategy based on weighted NC-cross entropy. To show the feasibility and applicability, we solve a MADM problem using the proposed strategy.

A set is alliance when two sets partitioning vertex set have uniform structure. All members of set have different amount of neighbors in the set and out of set. It leads us to the notion of offensive and defensive. New ideas, offensive alliance, defensive alliance, t-offensive alliance, t-defensive alliance, strong offensive alliance, strong defensive alliance, strong t-offensive alliance, strong t-defensive alliance, connected offensive alliance, connected defensive alliance, connected t-offensive alliance, and connected t-defensive alliance are introduced. Two numbers concerning cardinality and neutrosophic cardinality of alliances are introduced. A set is alliance when its complement make a relation in the terms of neighborhood. Different edges make different neighborhoods. Three types of edges are applied to define three styles of neighborhoods. General edges, strong edges and connected edges are used where connected edges are the edges arising from connectedness amid two endpoints of the edges. These notions are applied into neutrosophic graphs as individuals and family of them. Independent set as an alliance is a special set which has no neighbor inside and it implies some drawbacks for this notions. Finding special sets which are well-known, is an open way to purse this study. Special set which its members have only one neighbor inside, characterize the connected components where the cardinality of its complement is the number of connected components. Some problems are proposed to pursue this study. Basic familiarities with graph theory and neutrosophic graph theory are proposed for this article.

Single valued neutrosophic set has king power to express uncertainty characterized by indeterminacy, inconsistency and incompleteness. Most of the existing single valued neutrosophic cross entropy bears an asymmetrical behavior and produce an undefined phenomenon in some situations. In order to deal with these disadvantages, we propose a new cross entropy measure under single valued neutrosophic set (SVNS) environment namely SN- cross entropy and prove its basic properties. Also we define weighted SN-cross entropy measure and investigate its basic properties. We develop a new multi attribute group decision making (MAGDM) strategy for ranking of the alternatives based on the proposed weighted SN-cross entropy measure between each alternative and the ideal alternative. Finally, a numerical example of MAGDM problem of investment potential is solved to show the validity and efficiency of proposed decision making strategy. We also present comparative anslysis of the obtained result with the results obtained form the existing solution strategies in the solution.

The concept of neutrosophic number is a significant mathematical tool to deal with real scientific problems because it can tackle indeterminate and incomplete information which exists generally in real problems. In this article, we use neutrosophic numbers (a + bI), where a and bI denote determinate component and indeterminate component respectively. We explore the situations in which the input information is needed to express in terms of neutrosophic numbers. We define score functions and accuracy functions for ranking neutrosophic numbers. We then define a cosine function to determine unknown criteria weights. We define neutrosophic number harmonic mean operators and proved their basic properties. Then, we develop two novel MCGDM strategies using the proposed aggregation operators. We solve a numerical example to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed two strategies. Sensitivity analysis with variation of “I” on neutrosophic numbers is performed to demonstrate how the preference ranking order of alternatives is sensitive to the change of “I”. The efficiency of the developed strategies is ascertained by comparing the obtained results from the proposed strategies with the existing strategies in the literature.

The paper investigates some similarity measures in interval bipolar neutrosophic environment for multi-attribute decision making problems. At first, we define Hamming and Euclidean distances measures between interval bipolar neutrosophic sets and establish their basic properties. We also propose two similarity measures based on the Hamming and Euclidean distance functions. Using maximum and minimum operators, we define new similarity measures and prove their basic properties. Using the proposed similarity measures, we propose a novel multi attribute decision making strategy in interval bipolar neutrosophic set environment. Lastly, we solve an illustrative example of multi attribute decision making and present comparison analysis to show the feasibility, applicability and effectiveness of the proposed strategy.

Sometimes, it’s useful to have some degrees of determinacy, indeterminacy, and neutrality to have more precise model which in this case the model is called “neutrosophic”. In the future research, the foundation will be based on the caner’s treatment and the results and the definitions will be introduced in redeemed ways. A basic familiarity with SuperHyperGraph theory and neutrosophic SuperHyperGraph theory are proposed.

Bipolar neutrosophic set is an important extension of bipolar fuzzy set. This set is a hybridization of bipolar fuzzy set and neutrosophic set. Every element of a bipolar neutrosophic set consists of three independent positive membership functions and three independent negative membership functions. In this paper, we develop cross entropy measures of bipolar neutrosophic sets and prove its properties. We also define cross entropy measures of interval bipolar neutrosophic sets and prove its properties. Thereafter, we develop two novel multi-attribute decision making methods based on the proposed cross entropy measures. In the decision making framework, we calculate the weighted cross entropy measures between each alternative and the ideal alternative to rank the alternatives and choose the best one. We solve two illustrative examples of multi-attribute decision making problems and compare the obtained result with the results of other existing methods to show the applicability and effectiveness of the developed method. In the end, the main conclusion and future scope of research are summarized.

Along with the economic growth, the companies must contribute to social progress and promote environmental sustainability in equal harmony. Sustainable human resource management (SHRM) strategies make it possible to attain the economic, social and environmental goals of a firm. In this regard, a survey method is discussed using the literature review and online questionnaire to identify the main factors/indicators during the SHRM evaluation of manufacturing firms in India. Uncertainty is commonly occurred in the assessment of SHRM factors. As a generalized version of fuzzy sets, single-valued neutrosophic set (SVNS) has been demonstrated as a valuable tool to illustrate the indeterminate, inconsistent and uncertain data of realistic decision-making problems. Considering the idea of SVNSs, this study develops a hybrid multi-criteria group decision-making (MCGDM) approach for assessing the SHRM of manufacturing firms under uncertainty settings. For this purpose, an SVN-alternative ranking order method accounting for two-step normalization (AROMAN) is proposed based on VIFI-score function-based decision experts’ (DEs’) weighting tool and integrated criteria weight-determining model to solve the MCGDM problems with fully unknown DEs and criteria weights. In this regard, we develop new SVN-distance measure to compute the degree of difference between SVNSs. Some examples are presented to demonstrate the efficacy of developed measure over the existing ones. In addition, new criteria weight-determination model is presented with the integration of objective weights through IVIF-distance measure-based model and subjective weights through ranking comparison (RANCOM) tool on SVNSs. The proposed ranking method is applied to an empirical study of SHRM assessment for manufacturing firms in India, which shows its applicability and feasibility. In this study, the evaluation criteria are characterized into social, environmental and economic aspects with DE’s opinions. Comparative and sensitivity analyses are made to show the strength and steadiness of presented approach. This study provides an innovative MCGDM analysis framework, which makes a significant contribution to the SHRM assessment problem under indeterminate, inconsistent and uncertain setting.

We investigated the effect of lepidocrocite-type layered titanate, which we have been using to reduce brake-particle emissions in an environmentally friendly manner. The effect of titanate on reduction was evaluated using a small-scale inertia brake-material-friction-test dynamometer. We suggested that brake-particle emissions are related to the microphysical structure of the pad surface, such as the uniformity of friction film and secondary-plateau formation, and that friction materials containing titanate contribute significantly to the reduction in both particle mass (PM) and particle number (PN) emissions of brake particles for both non-asbestos organic (NAO) and low-steel (LS) pads. In our experiments, the PM- and PN-emission levels of brake particles from LS pads with the addition of titanate were comparable to those of NAO pads.

This study aims to evaluate the impact of the Intervention Model on improving community knowledge, attitudes, and behavior related to ecotourism accessibility for people with disabilities in Ternate City, with a focus on addressing gaps in understanding and support through educational services and distribution of educational materials in the form of brochures with a participatory approach. The research design used a quasi-experiment involving 4,964 residents, where 287 participants were randomly selected through Cluster Random Sampling. Three tourist destinations were chosen as research locations, namely Sulamadaha Beach, Tolire Besar Lake, and Batu Angus Geotourism in Ternate City, North Maluku. The results showed that the intervention significantly improved community knowledge, attitudes, and behavior related to ecotourism accessibility, with a significance value (Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000 <α = 0.05) indicating a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group after community-based interventions were carried out. In conclusion, this model has been proven effective in improving community knowledge, attitudes, and behavior towards ecotourism accessibility and can be used as a reference for similar programs in other locations to improve ecotourism accessibility globally.

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) play a crucial role in the European economy, yet their ability to sustain coopetition networks—collaborative arrangements between competitors—remains underexplored. This study addresses the gap by developing a reference model and an instantiation methodology for coopetition networks explicitly tailored to the needs of SMEs, grounded in the Service-Dominant (S-D) Logic framework. The reference model provides a structured approach for SMEs to coopetition throughout their entire lifecycle, from initiation to dissolution, focusing on value co-creation and resource exchange. To validate the model, a Proof-of-Concept (PoC) was conducted in the Portuguese ornamental stone sector, demonstrating significant improvements in manufacturing effectiveness and confirming the model’s practical applicability. The findings highlight the potential of coopetition networks to enhance the competitiveness and performance of SMEs. While the reference model successfully addresses key challenges SMEs face, the study acknowledges certain limitations. It suggests areas for further research, particularly regarding the long-term sustainability of these networks and the role of interpersonal dynamics.

Background/Objectives: Congenital Myasthenic Syndromes (CMS) are caused by variants in >30 genes with increasing numbers of variants of unknown significance (VUS) discovered by next generation sequencing. Establishing VUS pathogenicity requires in vitro studies that slow diagno-sis and treatment initiation. Recent protein structure prediction softwares, AlphaFold2/ColabFold, have revolutionised structural biology; such predictions have also been leveraged in AlphaM-issense which predicts ClinVar variant pathogenicity with 90% accuracy. Few reports, however, have tested these tools on rigorously-characterised clinical data. We therefore assessed ColabFold and AlphaMissense as diagnostic aids for CMS, using variants of the CHRN genes that encode the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR). Methods: Utilising a dataset of 61 clinically-validated CHRN variants, (1) we evaluated the pos-sibility of a ColabFold metric (either predicted structural disruption, prediction confidence, and prediction quality), that distinguishes variant pathogenicity. (2) We assessed AlphaMissenses’ ability to differentiate variant pathogenicity. (3) We compared AlphaMissense to existing patho-genicity prediction programmes, AlamutVP and EVE. Results: Analysing variant effects on ColabFold CHRN structure prediction, prediction confi-dence, and prediction quality, doesn’t yield any pathogenicity-indicative metric. However, Al-phaMissense predicts variant pathogenicity with 63.93% accuracy on our dataset – a much greater proportion than AlamutVP (27.87%) and EVE (28.33%). Conclusions: Emerging in silico tools can revolutionise genetic disease diagnosis – however, im-provement, refinement, and clinical validation is imperative prior to practical acquisition.

Histomorphological studies were conducted to evaluate the effects of NS-Oil (NS) on ovarian toxicity induced by cyclophosphamide in female rats. The research aimed to assess the histological changes in ovarian tissue and correlate these findings with alterations in serum gonadotropin levels. The experimental design involved three (3) experimental groups treated with cyclophosphamide, NS-Oil oil, or a combination, with control group for comparison. Histological assessments of ovarian sections were performed to analyze structural integrity, follicular development, and toxicity signs, while serum samples were analyzed for estradiol, progestin levels.Cyclophosphamide administration significantly disrupted ovarian architecture, reducing follicle count and causing follicular degeneration. Conversely, NS-Oil oil treatment exhibited protective effects, restoring normal histological features and improving gonadotropin levels. Image J software, calibrated with a table micrometer, was used to measure diameters of follicles, follicular cells, and oocytes. Primary, secondary, and tertiary follicles were classified according to Oktay et al. (2017). Body weight showed no significant difference across groups, but ovarian weight decreased in cyclophosphamide-treated groups compared to controls (p < 0.05). However, ovarian weight increased dose-dependently in NS-Oil-treated groups (p < 0.05).Cyclophosphamide reduced ovarian cortex and medulla volumes (p < 0.05), while NS-Oil treatment increased these volumes (p < 0.05). Pre-antral and antral follicle counts decreased with cyclophosphamide but increased following NS-Oil treatment (p < 0.05). Atretic follicle counts decreased in both cyclophosphamide and NS-Oil-treated groups (p < 0.05). The diameters of pre-antral and antral follicles, as well as follicular cells, decreased with cyclophosphamide but increased post NS-Oil treatment (p < 0.05).These results suggest that NS-Oil may offer a therapeutic strategy to mitigate ovarian damage associated with cyclophosphamide treatment, highlighting its potential role in preserving reproductive health in patients undergoing chemotherapy. Further investigations are warranted to elucidate the underlying mechanisms of action and the efficacy of NS-Oil in clinical settings.

This paper focuses on CEOs, who are considered the strategic leaders of corporations because of their crucial role in making important decisions. This research paper examines how female CEOs influence green innovation (GI) in Asian industrial sector. Its main objective is to answer the following research questions: Are there differences in GI endeavors between Asian industrial firms with female CEOs and those with male CEOs? Does the size of the industrial firms have a positive moderating effect on the relationship between CEO gender and GI? Based on our research questions, the size of firms is likely a determining factor in the GI of female CEOs. This research employs rigorous econometric modeling to analyze a substantial dataset of Asian industrial listed companies spanning from 2013 to 2022. It has been proven that industrial firms led by females CEOs are more inclined to have environmentally friendly practices. Furthermore, the size of the industrial firms amplifies the beneficial influence of female CEOs on the firm's chances of engaging in GI initiatives. Our outcomes stay robust to endogeneity issues using two-step GMM estimators. This study proposes that stakeholders, particularly in Asian countries, should promote the increased representation of females in CEO roles, particularly within large corporations. This is because women-led companies demonstrate superior performance in GI endeavors. Thus, regulators need to implement policies that promote the inclusion of women in CEO positions within large-scale enterprises. These policies may potentially strengthen the private sector’s capacity to foster sustainable innovation.

Researchers are often interested in the effects of change in one variable on change in a second variable, requiring the repeated measures of two variables. There are several multivariate statistical methods appropriate for this research design, including generalized estimating equations (GEE) and latent growth curve modeling (LGCM). Both methods allow for variables that are not continuous in measurement level and not normally distributed. More recently, researchers have begun to employ area under the curve (AUC) as a viable alternative when the nature of change is less important than the overall effect of time on repeated measures of a random variable. The research showed that AUC is an acceptable alternative to LGCM with repeated measures of a continuous and a zero-inflated Poisson random variable. However, less is known about its performance relative to GEE and LGCM when the repeated measures are ordinal random variables. Further, no study to our knowledge has compared AUC to LGCM or GEE when there are two longitudinal processes. We thus compared AUC to LGCM and GEE, assessing the effects of repeated measures of psychological distress on repeated measures of smoking. Results suggest AUC performed equally well to both methods, although missing data management is an issue with both AUC and GEE.

A model based on the fitting of stress-strain data by tensile tests of biocomposites made of a bioplastic (polybutylene succinate, PBS) and spent brewer's grain filler (BSGF) is developed. The model is suitable to describe the elastic-plastic behavior of these materials in terms of two mechanical parameters (tensile stress and tensile stiffness or Young's modulus) depending on the filler concentration. The mechanical characteristics, derived from the fitting parameters, show a good agreement with the experimental data. The mathematical model used here could be an important aid for the experimentation and the manufacturing process as it allows to predict the mechanical tensile parameters of a mixture with different filler concentrations, avoiding the long and complex preparation cycle of bio-composites, as well as the specific mechanical tests. The physical properties required by the objects created with the PBS-BSGF bio-composite by the partners/stakeholders of the research project co-financing this research, can be quite different. Therefore, a mathematical model that predicts some of the mechanical properties in terms of the mixture composition may be useful to speed up the selection of the required amount of BSGF in the mixture.

Hyaluronan has been considered in recent years as a potential naturally occurring modifiable scaffold that has the capability to absorb and release drugs over an extended period of time making it suitable as a chemotherapeutic delivery agent. Considering the limited treatment options available in the treatment of glioblastoma, in this review, we discuss the novel utilization of ultra high molecular weight hyaluronan - originally identified as a mechanism for maintaining longevity in the naked mole rat, as both a protective and extracellular matrix optimising scaffold, and a means to deliver therapy in resected brain tumors. The unique properties of this unique form of hyaluronan indicate potential future use in the prevention and treatment of both proliferative based and inflammation driven disease.

The consumption of contaminated water contributes to the global burden of diarrhea and other water-borne diseases, especially among young children. While the decentralized solar water disinfection treatment system remains a viable option to have safe drinking water, our understanding of the effects of household water treatment before use on willingness to accept and adopt a decentralized solar water disinfection treatment system is limited. In this study, a complementary log-log regression analysis of the compositional and contextual factors that systematically vary with willingness to accept and adopt a decentralized solar water disinfection treatment system in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba (STK) district of Ghana was carried out. Based on our findings, a greater proportion of households’ (97%) are willing to accept and adopt a decentralized solar water disinfection treatment system. Compositional and contextual factors such as age, marital status, education, religion, and geographical location significantly contribute to households’ willingness to accept and adopt a decentralized solar water disinfection treatment system in the STK district of Ghana. Households that treat their water before use (66%, P&lt;0.05) are more likely to accept and adopt a solar water disinfection treatment system compared to those that do not treat their water before use. The findings therefore suggest that scaling up solar water disinfection systems in the STK district is sacrosanct, and highlight the necessity to analyze compositional and contextual factors influencing willingness to accept and adopt solar water disinfection systems. Our findings will inform policies and programs aimed at implementing solar water disinfection systems in the study area to improve the health of communities that must rely on poor quality drinking water sources.

Fragile X Syndrome (FX) is the most common form of inherited cognitive impairment and falls under the broader category of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). FX is caused by a CGG trinucleotide repeat expansion in the non-coding region of the X-linked Fragile X Messenger Ribonucleoprotein 1 (FMR1) gene, leading to its hypermethylation and epigenetic silencing. Animal models of FX rely on the deletion of the Fmr1 gene which fail to replicate the epigenetic silencing mechanism of the FMR1 gene seen in human patients. Human stem cells carrying FX repeat expansions have provided a better understanding of the basis of the epigenetic silencing of FMR1. Previous studies have found that 5-Azacytidine (5Azac) can reverse this methylation; however, 5Azac can be toxic and may limit its therapeutic potential. Here, we show that the dietary factor Ascorbic Acid (AsA) can reduce DNA methylation in the FMR1 locus and lead to an increase in FMR1 gene expression in FX iPSCs and cerebral organoids. In addition, AsA treatment rescued neuronal gene expression and the morphological defects observed in FX iPSC-derived cerebral organoids. Hence, we demonstrate that the dietary co-factor AsA can partially revert molecular and morphological defects seen in human FX models in vitro. Our findings have implications for the development of novel therapies for FX in the future.

Background and Objective: Prostate cancer is the leading cancer affecting males. The treatment is radical prostatectomy, with its main complications being urinary incontinence and erectile dysfunction. Various studies demonstrate that exercises targeting the pelvic floor muscles help improve these complications, although sometimes, these exercises are not performed correctly, rendering the effort ineffective. To avoid this circumstance, a study comparing a group with biofeedback‐guided learning led by a nurse expert in the technique against another without this learning method is designed. Methods: Randomized clinical trial with two arms; the study group underwent two biofeedback sessions prior to surgery for the identification of the muscles to work on, compared to another group where no prior learning of the muscles was done. These fifteen‐minute sessions involved the placement of electromyography sensors for muscle contraction detection. Both groups followed the same care process where the protocol for reinforcing the perineal muscles after the removal of the urinary catheter was explained. Data were collected through validated questionnaires. Key Findings and Limitations: The results obtained show a clear improvement in the prevalence of urinary incontinence and erectile dysfunction in patients who underwent two biofeedback sessions prior to surgery, as well as a high rate of adherence and satisfaction with the care received in both the control group and the study group, regardless of whether they experienced urinary incontinence and/or erectile dysfunction. Conclusions and Clinical Implications: Biofeedback is a safe method that helps reduce complications after prostatectomy.

and reduced functionality. Recent studies support the possibility of providing Extracorporeal Shock Wave Treatment in patients suffering from osteoarthritis. Shock wave biostimulation may be able to modulate joint inflammation and stimulate chondorocytes in a reparative sense. The aim of the study is to investigate the clinical effects of shock wave treatment in patients suffering from arthritis of the first finger. Methods: A prospective clinical study was designed, in which seventy-two patients suffering from rhizoarthrosis were randomized to treatment with shock waves or exercises; in both groups an immobilization brace of the first finger was used. At recruitment and at 1, 3 and 6 months, patients received assessments of pain (VAS), functionality (FIHOA), disability (DASH); furthermore, the perception of improvement was monitored during follow-ups (Roles and Maudsley Score). Results: In both groups there was a significant improvement in all scores in the comparison between recruitment and 6 months; this improvement was confirmed for VAS, FIHOA and DASH in the comparison between individual time points in both groups, except for the comparison between 3 and 6 months for all scales in the exercise group and for FIHOA in both groups. The perception of improvement was statistically better in the shock wave group than in the exercise group at 1, 3 and 6 months. The regression analysis showed that the reduction of VAS and DASH are statistically influenced by shock wave treatment (p<0.001). Conclusions: Both shock waves and exercises, together with the use of the brace, are effective in managing pain, functionality and disability in patients suffering from arthritis of the first finger. The shock wave treatment ensured further improvement at 6 months.

Urban Heat Islands (UHI) are a growing concern in rapidly urbanizing regions, leading to significant ecological and public health challenges. This study investigates the spatiotemporal dynamics of UHI intensity in Mbombela City, Mpumalanga Province, South Africa, from 2008 to 2023. Using Landsat satellite imagery and geospatial analysis techniques, the research quantifies changes in land cover and their impact on Land Surface Temperature (LST) and UHI intensity. The results show that built-up areas increased by 86.67% over the study period, while vegetation cover decreased by 22.22%. Mean LST rose from 28.3°C in 2008 to 30.1°C in 2023, indicating a significant intensification of the UHI effect. Statistical analyses reveal strong correlations between urbanization metrics and UHI intensity, highlighting the role of human activities in exacerbating this phenomenon. This research contributes valuable insights for urban planning and climate adaptation strategies, particularly in secondary cities like Mbombela, where rapid development is creating new environmental challenges. The findings underscore the need for green infrastructure and nature-based solutions to mitigate the negative impacts of urbanization.

In recent years, the "3-30-300" concept by Professor Cecil Konijnendijk has been gaining popularity, outlining what makes a city "green" and what we should strive for. This concept suggests that from every apartment, at least 3 trees should be visible, 30% of the city's surface should be covered with greenery, and the nearest park or forest should be no more than 300 meters away. However, the lack of detailed guidelines makes the implementation of this concept a significant challenge. The goal of the research presented here was to adapt this concept for Warsaw (Poland) and assess whether it can be considered a green city. I defined parameters such as the maximum distance for visible trees as 20 meters and determined what counts toward the 30% green areas. The results showed that 57.82% of apartments in Warsaw have a view of at least 3 trees, while only 5.44% do not meet this criterion, and the rest meet it only partially. Parks and forests cover 19.95% of the city, while all green areas combined cover 42.01%. Additionally, 45% of buildings are located within 300 meters from a park or forest. Ultimately, full compliance with the "3-30-300" concept applies to 22.19% of buildings, while only 12.66% meet the criteria when considering only parks and forests. This indicates that, while Warsaw is relatively green, not all of its areas fulfill these criteria.

We examined changes in skeletal muscle protein lactylation and acetylation in response to acute resistance exercise, chronic resistance training (RT), and a single endurance cycling bout. Additionally, we performed in vitro experiments to determine if different sodium lactate treatments affect myotube protein lactylation and acetylation. The acute and chronic RT study (n=12 college-aged participants) consisted of 10 weeks of unilateral leg extensor RT with vastus lateralis (VL) biopsies taken at baseline, 24-hours following the first RT bout, and the morning of the last day of the RT bout. For the acute cycling study (n=9 college-aged participants), VL biopsies were obtained before, 2 hours, and 8 hours after 60 minutes of cycling. For in vitro experiments, C2C12 myotubes were treated with varying levels of sodium lactate including LOW (1mM for 24-hours), HIGH (10mM for 24 hours), and PULSE (10mM for 30 minutes followed by 1 mM for 23.5-hours). Neither acute nor chronic RT significantly affected nuclear or cytoplasmic protein lactylation. However, cytoplasmic protein acetylation was significantly reduced following one RT bout (-15%, p=0.002) and chronic RT (-16%, p=0.006). Cycling did not acutely alter post-exercise global protein lactylation or acetylation patterns. Lastly, varying 24-hour lactate treatments did not alter nuclear or cytoplasmic protein lactylation or acetylation, cytoplasmic protein synthesis levels, or myotube diameters. These findings continue to support that exercise induces changes in skeletal muscle protein acetylation but not lactylation.

This study proposes a simplified and fully renewable energy system, composed of two intermittent energy sources (wind and solar) and a long-duration energy storage technology using pumped hydro storage. The impact of intermittency on the medium- and long-term design of the energy matrix is evaluated using the OSeMOSYS model. The findings indicate that omitting intermittency results in a significant underestimation of costs and an inability to manage the variability of renewable energies effectively. Incorporating intermittency, although increasing the installed capacity and the amount of wasted energy, enhances the system's reliability. The inclusion of energy storage demonstrates the need to redistribute installed capacity in favor of solar energy to meet higher daytime demand. The study concludes that considering intermittency and storage is crucial for improving the accuracy of energy models, reducing losses, and optimizing operational costs in renewable energy-based systems.

This article examines the pressing challenges facing Industrial Organization (IO) in the contemporary economic landscape, with a particular focus on merger analysis. The rapid pace of technological advancement and emergence of novel business models have strained conventional analytical frameworks. We explore how the rise of digital platforms, data as a competitive asset, and multi-sided markets have exposed gaps in our understanding of market power and consumer welfare. Through an examination of empirical methodologies, including structural models and difference-in-differences approaches, we highlight the limitations of current techniques in accurately predicting merger outcomes. The paper argues for a disciplinary reinvention of IO, drawing upon insights from behavioural economics, network theory, and data science. We posit that an interdisciplinary approach is essential for developing more robust analytical tools capable of navigating the complexities of modern markets and informing effective antitrust policy in an increasingly interconnected global economy.

Land use and cover change (LUCC) is a key factor influencing global environmental and socio-economic systems. Many long-term geospatial LUCC datasets have been developed at various scales during the recent decades owing to the availability of long-term satellite data, statistical data and computational techniques. However, most existing LUCC products can not accurately reflect the spatiotemporal change patterns of LUCC at regional scale in China. Based on these geospatial LUCC products, Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), socioeconomic data, and statistical data, we developed multiple procedures to represent both spatial and temporal changes of the major LUC types by applying machine-learning, regular decision tree and hierarchical assignment methods using the northeastern China (NEC) as a case study. In this approach, each individual LUC type was developed in sequence under different schemes and methods. The accuracy evaluation using sampling plots indicated that our approach can accurately reflect the actual spatiotemporal patterns of LUC shares in the NEC, with an overall accuracy of 0.82, Kappa coefficient of 0.77 and regression coefficient of 0.82. Further comparisons with existing LUCC datasets and statistical data also indicated our approach and dataset can more accurately and comprehensively represent the spatiotemporal patterns of all LUC types at subpixel level. Our approach unfolded the mixed pixel issue and integrated the strengths of all LUCC products through the fusion process. The analysis based on our developed dataset indicated that forest, cropland and built-up land area increased by 17.11×104 km2, 15.19×104 km2 and 2.85×104 km2, respectively during 1980-2020, while grassland, wetland, shrubland and bareland decreased by 26.06×104 km2, 4.24×104 km2, 3.97×104 km2, and 0.92×104 km2, respectively. The temporal change patterns of all these LUC types were consistent with the provincial inventory data. Our developed approach can be widely applied in the entire China and worldwide, and our data products can provide accurate data supports for studying the LUCC consequences and making effective land use policies.

Cancerous stem cell (CSC) is capable of initiating tumor growth and metastasis and stem cell marker are known to used by scientists to isolate and identify certain stem cell.This study aims to describe the stem cell markers CD44, CD73 and CD 105 in meningioma among Sudanese patients and to isolate cancerous stem cells (CSCs) from meningioma tissues samples and test its in-vivo growth in Albino-Wister rats Material and methodsThis is a prospective cross-sectional experimental study done at the National Center of Neurological Sciences (NCNS) Khartoum, from 2019 to 2021. All established cranial meningioma patients were included. Tumor specimens were processed for RNA extraction and PCR. Tumor specimens were processed for RNA extraction and PCR. Twelve tissue samples were further processed for stem cells isolation and identificationTumor genesis of the isolated CSCs was tested through in-vivo application of the cells on brains of Albino Wister rats. The animals were sacrificed 3 months later and slices of the fixed brains were stained with H&E and studied microscopically for histopathology verification of the growing cells and further confirmed by immune-histochemistry using epithelial membrane antigen and progesterone receptor as specific cell markers for meningioma.ResultsA total of 23 meningioma cases were enrolled in the study. All sample expressed CD44, but CD73 and CD 105 expression was variable not on the different subtype, but within the same type .Successful isolation of cultured cells with cardinal features of mesenchymal stem cells was obtained. The implanted cells showed tumor growth consistent histologically and immune-histochemicaly with meningioma.

The failure of immunotherapies in cancer patients is being widely studied due to the complexities present in the tumor microenvironment (TME), where regulatory T cells (Treg) appear to actively participate in providing an immune escape mechanism for tumors. Therefore, therapies to specifically inhibit tumor-infiltrating Treg represent a challenge because Treg are distributed throughout the body and provide physiological immune homeostasis to prevent autoimmune diseases. Characterization of immunological and functional profiles could help to identify the mechanisms that need to be inhibited or activated to ensure Treg modulation in the tumor. To address this, quantitative in-silico approaches based on mechanistic mathematical models integrating multi-scale information from immune and tumor cells and the effect of different therapies have allowed the building of computational frameworks to simulate different hypotheses, some of which have subsequently been experimentally validated. Therefore, this review presents a list of diverse computational mathematical models that examine the role of Treg as a crucial immune resistance mechanism contributing to the failure of immunotherapy. In addition, this review highlights the relevance of certain molecules expressed in Treg that are associated with the TME immunosuppression, which could be incorporated into the mathematical model for a better understanding of the contribution of Treg modulation. Finally, different pre-clinical and clinical combinations of molecules are also included to show the trend of new therapies targeting Treg.

Jararhagin-C (JarC) is a protein from the venom of Bothrops jararaca consisting of disintegrin-like and cysteine-rich domains. JarC shows a modulating effect on angiogenesis and remodeling of extracellular matrix constituents improving wound healing in mice experimental model. JarC is purified from crude venom and the yield is less than 1 %. The aim of this work was to obtain the recombinant form of JarC and to test its biological activity. For this purpose, the bicistronic vector pSUMOUlp1 was used. This vector allowed the expression of the recombinant toxin JarC (rJarC) in fusion with the small ubiquitin-related modifier (SUMO) as well as the SUMO protease Ulp1. After expression, this protease was able to efficiently remove SUMO from rJarC inside the bacteria. rJarC free from SUMO was purified at the expected molecular mass, and recognized by polyclonal anti-Jararhagin antibodies. In terms of biological activity, both the native and recombinant forms showed no toxicity to the HUVEC cell line CRL1730 and were effective in modulating cell migration activity in experimental in vitro model. These results demonstrate the successful production of rJarC and the preservation of its biological activity, which may facilitate further investigations into the therapeutic potential of this snake venom-derived protein.

In a systematic explorative study of genetic patterns on chromosome 19, we discovered a pattern comprised of 23 SNP alleles that is significantly associated with late-onset Alzheimer’s disease (AD). This association is validated using two independent data sets. The pattern includes THOP1, which has a long and disputatious relationship with AD. It also spans SLC39A3 and SGTA and is upstream from DIRAS1. We utilized population data to observe the frequencies of this genetic pattern for 11 different ancestries and note that it is highly common for Europeans and relatively infrequent for Africans. This research provides a distinct genetic signature for AD risk as well as insights into the complicated relationship between this disease and THOP1.

Anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) is considered to be one of the most virulent, treatment refractory, malignancies. Recent molecular insights into the biology of thyroid cancer have transformed ATC management and BRAF/MEK targeted therapy is now incorporated into guideline based multidisciplinary care. We report visceral perforation in the setting of an extreme response to such therapy in a patient with a mixed papillary thyroid carcinoma and ATC. Molecularly targeted therapy afforded a dramatic, but life-threatening, response to treatment. This report highlights the complexities of care for the patient and treating clinicians.

Background/Objectives: Successfully weaning patients with prolonged mechanical ventilation (PMV: ≥21 days) from ventilators is a challenging process, and proper nutritional support is a crucial factor in this process. Previous studies have highlighted the significance of higher albumin levels and increased daily protein intake in predicting successful weaning among PMV patients. However, the importance of calorie intake in patients with PMV has remained unclear. Methods: This retrospective study included 1,038 adult patients (age >18 years) who underwent endotracheal intubation or tracheostomy and required mechanical ventilation for >21 days. Baseline characteristics, nutritional variables, disease severity, management factors and patient outcomes (hospital stay and duration of ventilator use) were analyzed between the weaning-failure and weaning-success sub-cohorts and factors associated with successful weaning were identified. Results: The participants had mean APACHE II score of 18 and a Day 1 SOFA score of 4.9 and the successful weaning rate was 70%. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that higher albumin and hemoglobin levels, the absence of shock, less positive fluid status, and higher calorie intake were associated with a higher successful weaning rate; an average calorie intake higher than 25 kcal/kg/day during respiratory care center (RCC) stay predicted better successful ventilator weaning. Conclusions: Higher daily calorie intake in the RCC is associated with more successful ventilator weaning, and an average intake exceeding 25 kcal/kg/day is recommended for optimizing the weaning process.

This study presents an optimized design for a Segmented Sinusoidal Parameter Winding with Magnetic Wedge Variable Reluctance Resolver (SSPWMW-VRR), addressing challenges like winding asymmetry and harmonic distortion in conventional designs. By integrating Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) for winding design, Magnetic Equivalent Circuit (MEC) analysis for leakage flux, and machine learning techniques (XGBoost and Multi-Layer Perceptron), the stator slot shape was fine-tuned for improved accuracy. XGBoost outperformed MLP in prediction accuracy with a Mean Absolute Error (MAE) of 0.1172. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulations and experimental validation demonstrated a reduction in position errors from ±30’ in conventional VRRs to ±5’ in the optimized design, along with significant harmonic reduction.

We assembled and annotated the complete mitochondrial genomes of Lycalopex vetulus (hoary fox), Cerdocyon thous (bush dog), Tayassu pecari (white-lipped peccary), and Tadarida brasiliensis (Brazilian free-tailed bat). The mitogenomes exhibited typical vertebrate structures, containing 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, two ribosomal RNA genes, and a D-loop region. Phylogenetic reconstruction using the 13 protein-coding genes revealed robust relationships among species within Carnivora, Chiroptera, and Artiodactyla, corroborating previous studies. Secondary structure analysis of tRNAs and ribosomal genes showed slight variations among species of the same order. This research highlights the importance of mitochondrial genomics in understanding the evolutionary relationships and genetic diversity of Cerrado mammals, contributing to conservation efforts for this unique ecosystem.

The mining industry is a fundamental pillar of economic development in Peru, but mine tailings can generate contamination by toxic heavy metals such as Hg, As, Pb, Cd, and Zn, affecting health, flora, and fauna. This research aimed to characterize the physical, chemical, mineralogical, and toxicological properties of active and passive tailings in the Arequipa region of Peru to identify and quantify the presence of these heavy metals. Analytical techniques, such as granulometry, ICP, TCLP, SEM, and EDS were used to obtain detailed information about the characteristics of the tailings. The results showed significant variability in particle size distribution, as well as differences in mineralogical composition, including the presence of valuable and potentially toxic minerals. This study will allow corrective actions to be taken to prevent, minimize, or remediate potential negative impacts in the region.

Background: Short after the detection of the COVID virus in January 2020 the US Government introduced and enforced a series of restrictions to protect the elderly from a “deadly virus” and the “pandemic of the century”. Persons who disagreed were silenced and punished. Objective: In the 15^th month of COVID epidemic (April 2021), we have access to sufficient statistical data and methods to better understand the nature, origin of the COVID pandemic. It is now possible to reliably evaluate the effectiveness of the restrictions and the human factors / driving forces behind this drastic limitations of our natural freedom in this country. Methods: Publicly available epidemiological and population parameters were collected and analyzed using the ‘political score’ and ‘restriction ranking’ of 50 states and evaluated by simple and usual statistical methods, mainly correlation analyses. Results: This study revealed, that 1) restrictions reduced the number of viral infections, but 2) they totally failed to reduce the number of supposedly COVID related deaths, 3) they increased (SIC!) the mortality of coronavirus. The grade of restrictions were/are strongly associated to the 4) left/right political ratio of the States, there States with more democrat citizens practiced more restrictions. It was found that race, religion and Medicare spending have significant influence on politic as well as on the grade of restriction orders. Factors moving States toward the political left and harder COVID restrictions have 5) larger ‘non-white’ population, 6) larger number of ‘non-protestant’ believers, 7) larger Jewish population, and 8) more generous Medicare spending. It was not possible to see any influence of the size of the 9) senior (65+) population [i.e. those who are allegedly the most vulnerable and are mostly in need of protective restrictions] neither on the States politic nor on the restrictions Conclusions: The conclusion is that COVID restrictions are primarily politically motivated, they are ineffective to reduce COVID related mortality and they provide no extra health benefit for the so called “vulnerable” minority (elderly).

Biomolecular detections of Helicobacter pylori(HP) were compared using specially modified sensors and fluorine immobilized on a carbon nanotube (HFCNT) electrode, which yielded sensitive results. Handheld voltammetric circuits were used for optimization. An anodic voltammogram of HP molecular oxidation was obtained at 0.0 V (versus the Ag/AgCl/KCl) in a 0.1M NH4H2PO4 electrolyte solution. Under optimized conditions, the analytical working range was 2.98x103-22.127x103 CFU/ml HP using square wave (SW) stripping voltammetry, precision of R2 =0.9857 (SWSV), the detection limit approached to 2.5x102 CFU/ml HP (S/N=3).The developed techniques have been applied to diagnosis of early-stage HP infections using stomach tissue from healthy humans and gastric patients.

Solar ultraviolet (UV) is among the most important ecological factors shaping the composition of biota on the planet surface, including upper layers of waterbodies. Inhabitants of dark environments recently descending from surface organisms provide natural opportunities to study the evolutionary losses of UV adaptation mechanisms and better understand how those mechanisms function at the biochemical level. Ancient Lake Baikal is the only freshwater reservoir, where deep-water fauna emerged, and its diverse endemic amphipods (Amphipoda, Crustacea) now inhabit the whole range from highly transparent littoral to dark depths of over 1600 m, which makes them a convenient model to study UV adaptation. Here we show that adults of deep-water Baikal amphipods Ommatogammarus flavus and O. albinus indeed have high sensitivity to environmentally relevant UV levels in contrast to littoral species Eulimnogammarus cyaneus and E. verrucosus. The UV intolerance was more pronounced in deeper-dwelling O. albinus and was explainable by lower levels of carotenoids and carotenoid-binding proteins. Signs of oxidative stress were not found but specifically UV-B seemingly led to accumulation of toxic compounds. Overall, the obtained results demonstrate that UV is an important factor limiting distribution of deep-water amphipods into the littoral zone of Lake Baikal.

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the potential of poplar-type propolis for wound healing by analyzing its phytochemical profile and biological effects. Methods: The phytochemical characterization included specific colorimetric assays to estimate the total phenolic and flavonoid contents and the triterpenoids content. Some of the main components of poplar propolis (pinocembrin, pinobanksin, CAPE, chrysin, galangin) were analyzed using HPLC-DAD. Scavenging activity and total antioxidant capacity were assessed through DPPH and ORAC assays, respectively. Biological in vitro assays used keratinocyte, fibroblast, and monocytic cell lines. The direct wound healing properties were tested through scratching assays and ELISA kits for the assessment of the production of growth factors (FGF-7, Latency Associated Peptide - LAP), while the indirect effects were evaluated through the estimation of the levels of MMP9, IL-1β, IL-8 and TNF-α using ELISA kits together with a cell-free test on the inhibition capacity on collagenases. During the study, the Network Pharmacology analysis was employed to further explore possible mechanisms of action of propolis on the healing process. Results: The analyses confirmed the high phenolic content of poplar propolis, dominated by flavonoids, and terpenes. Propolis exhibited significant antioxidant activity and interestingly, propolis showed indirect wound-healing properties by mitigating inflammation and remodeling (reduced IL-1β and MMP9) and potentially modulating the immune response (upregulated IL-8). In vitro studies confirmed these effects, demonstrating decreased MMP9 production and collagenase inhibition when cells were co-treated with propolis and a stressor. Propolis also suppressed IL-1β release in fibroblasts, although its impact on TNF-α was inconclusive. Notably, co-treatment upregulated IL-8 in monocytes, suggesting a potential immunomodulatory role. Conclusion: poplar propolis may not directly stimulate cell proliferation during wound healing, while its anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties could suggest an indirect contribution to the process.

Aluminum-based hybrid nanocomposites, particularly Al6061 alloy, have gained prominence in the scientific community due to their unique properties, such as high strength, low density, and good corrosion resistance. The production of these nanocomposites involves incorporating reinforcing nanoparticles into the matrix to improve its mechanical and thermal properties. Al6061 hybrid nanocomposites were manufactured using powder metallurgy. Silicon carbide (SiC) ceramic nanoparticles and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were used as reinforcements. Characterization of the Al6061 hybrid nanocomposites involved analysis of their mechanical properties, such as hardness and tensile strength, as well as their micro and nanometric structures. Techniques such as optical microscopy (OM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) were used to study the distribution of nanoparticles, the grain size of the microstructure, and the presence of defects in the matrix. The results showed that adding reinforcing nanoparticles can significantly improve the properties of Al6061, depending on the amount and type of nanoparticles. However, the agglomeration of the nanoparticles and the difficulty of uniform dispersion remain challenges in manufacturing these nanocomposites. The microstructural evaluation revealed significant grain refinement and improved homogeneity in the hybrid composites, resulting in enhanced mechanical performance. Tensile tests demonstrated that the hybrid Al6061/CNTs/SiC composite exhibited the highest tensile strength of 104 MPa, compared to 63 MPa for the unreinforced Al6061 matrix.

Introduction. Mexico confirmed its first COVID-19 case in February 2020. Since then, it has been important to describe the presentation and data of critically ill patients with ARDS caused by SARS-CoV-2. Objectives. To determine the survival of critically ill patients with ARDS due to SARS-CoV-2. Secondary objectives are to identify factors associated with mortality in these patients and to evaluate 90-day survival based on these risk factors. Materials and Methods. This observational, retrospective study was conducted in an ICU at a tertiary hospital in Mexico City (March 2020 - March 2023). It included patients over 18 years old with COVID-19 confirmed by PCR, excluding those with negative PCR, those who died within the first 24 hours, or those without invasive mechanical ventilation. Demographic, clinical, and treatment data were collected. Descriptive statistical analyses, logistic regression, and Kaplan-Meier analyses were performed. The study was approved by ethical committees and did not require informed consent. Results. A total of 157 patients with COVID-19 were studied, with a mean age of 62.8 years and a male predominance (74.5%). ARDS was severe in 68.2%, and acute kidney injury (AKI) developed in 70.1%. The mortality rate was 58.6%, with a 90-day survival of 33.1%. Factors such as AKI (OR = 3.4), hemodynamic failure (OR = 6.5), and elevated lactate (OR = 0.201) were independently associated with mortality, with their impact on survival confirmed by the log-rank test. Conclusion. In critically ill patients with ARDS due to COVID-19, the 90-day survival rate was 33.1%. AKI, hemodynamic failure, and elevated lactate were associated with reduced survival, especially when AKI was combined with hemodynamic failure (26.7%).

The discovery that vitamin D2 is being generated by anaerobic microbial metabolism in the alimentary tract, raises the question whether such a source of vitamin D could contribute to vitamin D supply for the animal hosting this microbial production system. In ruminants, this microbial generation in the forestomach allows vitamin D2 to be readily absorbed when it reaches the small intestine, contributing to vitamin D2 and 25-hydroxyvitamin D2 [25(OH)D2] found in their tissues. In monogastric animals like humans, the microbial generation of vitamin D2 is occurring in the large intestine. There is evidence that vitamin D hydroxy metabolites, delivered to the lumen of the colon can be absorbed. However, the parent vitamin D is more lipophilic than its metabolites, and like lipophilic vitamin K2 being produced by bacteria in the hindgut, may be poorly absorbed by the colon mucosa. It is now apparent that colon mucosal cells have the proteins megalin and cubilin in their basal membrane. These glycoproteins perform endocytosis of circulating proteins including vitamin D binding protein [DBP]. Inside the cell, DBP binds to cytoplasmic actin and thus provides an array of high affinity binding sites for vitamin D and its functional metabolites. Any traces of vitamin D2 that may diffuse into the colon mucosal cells from the lumen would thus be retained and accumulate on the DBP-actin. It would then be a substrate for functional hydroxylase metabolism for local endocrine action in these cells, and subsequent delivery of 25(OH)D2 by diffusion to apo-DBP in the circulation.

Modern organizations have migrated from localized physical offices to work-from-home environments. This surge in remote work culture has exponentially increased the demand and usage of Virtual Private Network (VPN), which permits remote employees to access corporate offices effectively. However, the technology raise concerns including security threats, latency, throughput, and scalability, among others. These Newer generation threats are more complex and frequent, which makes the legacy approach to security ineffective. The research paper gives an overview of contemporary technologies used across enterprises including VPN and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), Proxy Servers, Secure Shell (SSH) Tunnels, Software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN), and Secure Access Service Edge (SASE). This paper also presents a comprehensive cybersecurity framework named Zero Trust VPN (ZTVPN), which is a VPN solution based on Zero Trust principles. The proposed framework is aimed to enhance IT security and privacy for modern enterprises in remote work environments and addresses concerns of latency, throughput, scalability, and security. Finally, the paper demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed framework in various enterprise scenarios, highlighting its ability to prevent data leaks, manage access permissions, and provide seamless security transitions. The findings underscore the importance of adopting ZTVPN to fortify cybersecurity frameworks, offering an effective protection tool against contemporary cyber threats. This research serves as a valuable reference for organizations aiming to enhance their security posture in an increasingly hostile threat landscape.

In an attempt to replace corroding mild steel components in aggressive mine water environ-ments, nickel-chromium-iron (Hastelloy® G30), copper-nickel-tin (ToughMet® 3), and co-balt-chromium-tungsten (Stellite® 6B) hard alloys were selected due to their excellent corrosion resistance, but they remain challenged in many acidic environments. The corrosion behaviours of these alloys were compared and investigated in synthetic mine water with varying pH levels (6, 3, 1) using potentiodynamic polarisation. Microstructural, hardness, and XRD analyses were conducted. Stellite® 6B exhibited superior corrosion resistance across all pH values, outperform-ing both Hastelloy® G30 and ToughMet® 3. With the lowest corrosion rates and comparable high hardness, Stellite® 6B emerges as a promising choice for replacing mild steel pump components in aggressive mine water environments.

All-dielectric metasurfaces offer a low-loss alternative to plasmonic metasurfaces. We proposed the configuration for high-reflectivity all-dielectric metasurfaces based on single-crystal diamond (SCD) resonators on fused silica substrate and conducted simulations to optimize and analyse such configuration via FDTD solver. We utilized GMR as design principles to select the configuration and the substrate material, and analyzed the scattering properties of a single SCD resonator by multipole decomposition. Then we have demonstrated that both the cylindrical resonators in square lattice and frustum-shaped resonators in hexagonal lattice can achieve near-unity reflectivity (> 99.99%) and ultra-low absorption (< 0.001%) at 795 nm, the typical alkali-metal laser wavelength. Additionally, we have demonstrated that such design is quite tolerant to fabrication errors and further supports its potential for realistic applications. To expand the functionality of such devices across multiple wavelengths, a dual-band high-reflectivity meta-surfaces at 744 nm and 828 nm has also been designed. Our work is quite useful for designing diamond-based highly reflective mirrors, paving the way for low-loss all-dielectric reflective metasurfaces in high-power laser applications.

Carcinoid syndrome (CS) is a rare condition associated with neuroendocrine tumors (NETs), particularly those originating in the gastrointestinal tract, which secrete bioactive substances like serotonin. The management of CS requires a multidisciplinary approach due to its complex clinical manifestations, including flushing, diarrhea, bronchospasm, and carcinoid heart disease. Optimal care involves collaboration between several professional figures like oncologists, endocrinolo-gists, gastroenterologists, surgeons, and dietitians. Currently, a wide range of treatments are available focused on both symptom control and tumor burden reduction. Somatostatin analogs (SSAs) are the first-line therapy for symptom relief. Still, in patients with progressive disease or refractory CS, other options include targeted therapies, peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT), liver-directed therapies, and surgical resection when feasible. Furthermore, management of complications related to prolonged serotonin release and malnutrition as a result of exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, post-surgical conditions, vitamin deficit, and chronic diarrhea often re-quires early detection to mitigate symptoms and improve the quality of life in these patients. The complexity of CS necessitates individualized care and continuous coordination among specialists to optimize outcomes and enhance patient well-being.

Child labor remains a predominant issue in Pakistan, despite the country’s existing policies and frameworks aimed at abolishing it. Through this study, we investigated the child labor distribution across Sindh and examined the factors that shape the regional patterns. We analyzed the data available through the 2018-19 Sindh Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys, MICS 6, from 20,030 households with 40,633 children in the 5-17 age bracket. By applying prevalence statistics, chi-square tests, and regression modeling to these data, we investigated the trends in child labor prevalence, identified the correlation between child labor and various socioeconomic and geodemographic variables, and finally mapped the geospatial patterns of child labor across districts in Sindh, enabling us to identify and prioritize the districts in need of immediate intervention. The findings revealed that about 20 percent of the children in Sindh are engaged in child labor, with a high prevalence among males and in the 15-17 age bracket. Moreover, poverty and rural dwellings raise this issue. Other socioeconomic and geographic factors reinforcing this issue are lack of education among children, mothers or caretakers, and mothers’ or caretakers’ functional difficulties. However, children’s functional difficulties lower their prevalence in labor. Among the 29 districts across Sindh, Kambar Shahdadkot has the highest prevalence of child labor.

Lymphadenomegaly is well described in dogs with neoplastic diseases, but it can also reflect in-flammation. However, its role in assessments of inflammation is little reported in the veterinary literature. Lymph nodes are most easily assessed superficially through palpation, but computed tomography (CT) enables evaluation of deep lymph nodes. Accordingly, we investigated associ-ations between maximal lymph node diameter and plasma concentrations of C-reactive protein (CRP), a sensitive inflammatory marker, targeting three deep lymph nodes (sternal, cranial me-diastinal, and internal iliac). We evaluated data from small dogs with non-neoplastic diseases that underwent synchronous CT and blood biochemistry at our institution. BACKGROUND. Invasive aspergillosis (IA) is a deadly fungal lung infection. Antifungal resistance and treatment side effects are major concerns. Iron chelators are vital for IA management, but systemic use can cause side effects. We developed nanoparticles (NPs) to selectively deliver the iron chelator deferasirox (DFX) for IA treatment. METHODS DFX was encapsulated in poly(lacticco‐ glycolic acid) (PLGA) NPs using a single emulsion solvent evaporation method. NPs were characterized by light scattering and electron microscopy. DFX loading efficiency and release were assessed spectrophotometrically. Toxicity was evaluated using SRB, luciferase, and XTT assays. Therapeutic efficacy was tested in an IA mouse model, assessing fungal burden by qPCR and biodistribution via imaging.RESULTS DFX‐NPs had a size of ~50nm and a charge of ~‐30mV, with a loading efficiency of ~90%. Release kinetics showed DFX release via diffusion and bioerosion. The EC50 of DFX‐NPs was significantly lower (p<0.001) than the free drug, and they were significantly less toxic (p<0.0001) in mammalian cell cultures. In vivo, NPs treatment significantly reduced Af burden (p<0.05). CONCLUSION The designed DFX‐NPs effectively target and kill Af with minimal toxicity to mammalian cells. The significant in vivo therapeutic efficacy suggests these NPs could be a safe and effective treatment for IA.

Drug–targeted integrated nanofiber development is a current research trend. Potential materials for the development of such systems include Poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and chitosan (CS) nanofibers, which are traditionally fabricated by electrospinning aqueous solutions of these polymers with acetic acid. To improve drug integration, the binary-solvent system was converted into a multi–solvent system by the adding of ethanol. This caused noticeable shifts in the solvent system's solubility parameter, the interaction of the various component forces, and optical and rheological properties of PVA-CS solution. The results show that solution containing 4% PVA, 3% CS, 15% ethanol and 45% acetic acid is optimal for the increasing of manufacturing productivity, improving the morphology and diameter of PVA–CS nanofibers, without changing in chemical bonding composition. The XRD spectrum revealed that the alterations in the crystal lattice and diameter of the PVA–CS nanofibers leaded to the variation in their thermal and tensile properties.

Introduction: Persistent hypophosphatasia (pHPE) can be an expression of hypophosphatasia (HPP), a rare disorder of bone metabolism resulting from ALPL gene pathogenic variants. The aim of this study was to identify the role of auxiliary general biomarkers to verify low ALP serum activity as an alert parameter for an ALPL gene pathogenic variants. Material: A retrospective analysis of adult patients with at least one reduced ALP value of less than 21 U/L was performed. 88 patients had a temporary HPE (tHPE group). 12 out of 20 patients with persistent HPE agreed to a genetic analysis. 11 patients had a pathogenic ALPL gene variant (ALPL group). Hemoglobin [HB], alanine aminotransferase [ALT], aspartate aminotransferase [AST], gamma-glutamyl transferase [GGT], calcium, phosphate, thyrotropin [TSH], albumin, total protein, and C-reactive protein [CRP] levels) represented basic biomarkers. Because of safety concerns associated with the use of liquid electrolytes and electrolyte solutions options of non-liquid materials like gels and polymers used as ion conducting electrolytes have been explored intensely. The low ionic conductivity of hard and soft solid materials was too low for practical applications in supercapacitors which require low internal reistance of a device and consequently highly conducting materials. Even if an additional separator may not be needed when the solid electrolyte already ensures reliable separation of the electrodes the electrolytes prepared as films or membranes as thin as practically acceptable resistance may still be too high. Recent developments with gel electrolytes sometimes approach or even surpass liquid electrolyte solutions in terms of effective conductance. Reported studies are reviewed, material combinations are sorted out, trends are identified.
