Abstract

This work reports two approaches of Dy diffusion from the surface into the grain of the magnets during vapor deposition process, and three stages of coercivity Hcj enhancement and Dy contents increasement in Nd-Fe-B sintered magnets respectively: from 0 to 4 hours, Hcj and Dy contents increased rapidly; from 4 to 24 hours, Hcj and Dy contents increased slowly; from 24 to 30 hours, Hcj and Dy contents changed scarcely. So extending Dy diffusion duration was without virtual meaning after 24 hours. In the Dy diffusion process, the intergranular grain boundaries became continuous and homogeneous, some grain micro-defects were repaired. As a result, from 0 to 24 hours, Hcj enhanced significantly, remanence Br change barely. The Nd-Fe-B magnet with high performances was obtained: Br: 12. 22kGs, Hcj: 38.9kOe, (BH)max: 36.87MGOe.
